We were on this site over the Mayday bank holiday weekend and although the weather was a bit of let down the breathtaking scenery more than made up for it . The view over the Loch was fantastic to wake up to first thing and we were luck enough to see wild seals close to the shore.

The National Trust Gardens close to the site are worth visiting and the village of Poolewe has a good shop that stocks most thing that you may need , there is also a good hotel and coffee shop as well .

The site managers were always on hand and were extremely helpful and friendly a credit to the club . We shall return again in the not to distant future

Lovely little camp site, dog friendly, gorgeous scenery, and to top it off they have lovely chickens roaming around freely! Facilities very clean and tidy, staff very helpful and friendly, would recommend to anyone!

Village has a little shop with pretty much everything you may need, some nice pubs, and places to eat.

And there is the Inverewe Gardens up the road - worth a visit!

I would agree with everything others have said. We had a pitch overlooking the Loch which changed every time we looked at it. Great for wildlife and even saw an otter in the sea round the headland.

Midges were not a problem but then we were probably too late although we even noticed an article in the information room that said the Royal Marines who train in the Highlands have started using an Avon product to keep the critters at bay.

A long way to go but well worth the effort.

Nice clean friendly site. Showers and toilets are immaculate. Lovely views from site across the Loch Ewe.

Great location to do some hillwalking.

Site was quite busy but still very quiet.

Local shops and pub within ten minute walk.

Gairloch is nice place to visit too.

Local gardens are a bit expensive to visit especially if you have a family.

Lovely area to visit stunning scenery.

Would highly recommend this site.

Don't be confident about getting in without booking if you want electrics - we hadn't booked for our one night, and the site was full up for serviced pitches, so we couldn't stay. We weren't late arriving and other folk were being turned away too. The gardens at Poolewe (National Trust for Scotland) are absolutely wonderful, the scenery is lovely. We drove a short way north up the coast to another (much quieter!) site at Laide, which suited us fine.

We have just come back from a 3 night stay at this campsite.

Details that I would like to pass to fellow campers.

1. Toilets - very clean
2. Showers - again, very clean
3. Staff - very friendly and helpful
4. Pitch - Gravel - you will need rockpegs.
5. Ground - Level but grass soggy.
6. Shop - small, holds just a few bits and bobs.
7. Location - although on next to a road, not much traffic.
8. Noise - there were only max of 5 other visitors so very quiet.
9. Views - looks over Loch Ewe, very nice.
10. Dogs are allowed.
11. Disabled facilities
12. Chemical waste disposable point
13. Gas available to buy.
14. Town, small but very nice and very friendly. Check out the local coffee shop.
15. Bus stop across the road.

I would like to recommend this site, very small, quiet and friendly.

The further north you can stay with the camping and caravan club. Very nice site with clean warm showers/loos. Very muddy underfoot when we visited but just a few yards down the road it was dry so it seems drainage on the site may be a problem I certainly would not have wanted to pitch a tent !

Very quiet site and very nice wardens, well recommended for a quiet retreat.

We arrived quite late as we were delayed on the ferry at Ullapool but were made welcome by the warden even though it was after 9pm and we hadn't booked. We parked under the trees at the front of the site overlooking the bay and main road and watched the sunset and although the main road passes between the site and the bay we were not disturbed by any road noise.

The main toilets and showers were as you would expect from a C&CC site but there was 2 additional showers in a separate area near the laundry which our fellow visitors didn't seem to have discovered which allowed us to shower without the pressure of knowing someone was waiting for the showers.

There is a separate area for backpackers and a shelter and indoor cooking area for them.

The motorhome point is next to reception and requires the warden to unlock the gates to it so it's best to try and use this while reception is open in the morning or afternoon.

Maybe we were fortunate but the seemed very few midges around.

The site is a short walk from the village and ideal for visiting Inverewe Gardens which are about 100yards walk from the site.

Found the site to be very friendly, relaxing and quiet, well run and helpful staff. The level pitches seemed well sheltered, with good drainage, pegs were a little hard to drive in. The showers were very nice, water was hot, cubicle's had hooks and kept clean and tidy. Midges did not seem that bad compared to other areas on the West Coast, maybe the gentle sea breeze helped.
In the area there was plenty of easy walks, nice cycle rides many places for sea or loch fishing. The sandy beaches were so empty of visitors and the sea was very clear. Few minutes walk into the village of Poolewe, which even had a local swimming pool, the village hall often had several local fun event's. Our lad of 10 enjoyed it here, with many things to see and do  I found this area of Scotland to be very beautiful, the coastline and mountains, the best of all was the stunning sunsets most evenings.   MalcolmR

Cracking site , as a club site it obviously has all the bits . It's very clean , tidy , well kept etc. Is right on the Loch (Ewe) and despite the road traffic is not a problem, some cracking walks nearby up to Loch Maree, if yer lucky you'll spot Otters and Eagles here as well. We have :). Wardens friendly and helpful.
