Just returned from Radnors End campsite and I think it was amazing for our needs. I have been camping for 40 plus years and this site is very well kept and appears to be very well organised too. When you visit or stay at a campsite it's like entering someone else's home. Its never going to be as you would like it to be! Run by a very obliging and helpful family this site is clean and tidy, has fantastic views over Hay and surrounding countryside with lots of places to eat and drink. I recommend this site to people who appreciate small and homely, nicely laid out with good pitch sizes and ample facilities.

Lovely campsite situation with nice view over Hay. Very convenient - 5 min walk into the town.
Owners very helpful and friendly. Mostly used by walkers in small tents when we were there - with a medium sized family tent we were the largest on site!
Could be crowded if more there - no space for older children to play ball games etc although play area would be an attraction for younger ones.
Toilet facilities small and basic but functional, not the cleanest we have used but OK. Nice quiet site when we were there.
Was some dog mess on the field mind which we avoided.

Arrived 23rd July after journey from IOW, welcoming greeting from host and showed where to pitch. Good facilities and lovely mowed lawn to pitch tents.
My sons and I were on a kayaking/backpacking holiday, owner allowed us to leave car and even gave us a lift to river. HE WAS THE BEST. Views from site are awesome and surrounding area is superb.
Facilities are always clean, we know this as we returned and had a few rest days.
Owner is friendly and very obliging, wish there were more like him.
I shall certainly return
For those with small children there is a lovely small playground on site, excellent for entertaining the young ones.

We have just returned from this lovely site, wonderful views of Hay on Wye. Nicely maintained, relaxing, friendly owner and spacious pitches.
Could benefit from another shower, we were ok as it was not that busy but could be a problem during busier periods. The site is very close to the Offas Dyke path which is convenient for this walk.
We went for a meal at the Baskerville Arms in Clyro, wish we hadn't bothered, the main meals were tasteless, two lasagne's and the Vegetarian option just tasted of tinned tomatoes, we complained and were told that lasagne contains 80% tomatoes, which by my calculation leaves 20% for the meat and pasta. We paid and as we were leaving there was a comments book, my sister in law wrote a comment and the owner said you put what you like but I will remove it when you have gone. We were really upset at his attitude.
It is a short walk into Hay on Wye, there is a very nice ice cream parlour, they are delicious with good selection of flavours.

This was our third stay at Radnor's End. It's a great campsite and a great choice when visiting Hay-on-Wye as it is just a short and very pleasant walk down the hill and over the river into the town. The views from the campsite are splendid.
The site is small which adds to a comfortable feel, and each pitch has plenty of room. Facilities are good with plenty of toilets and showers, which are 20p for a good time - it felt like 5 minutes? Washing up facilities are also good and there is a cabin with additional facilities and a place to sit. Recycling facilities are also good.
We will definitely be back!

We recently stayed at this site as we were starting a canoe trip from Hay on Wye down to Symmonds Yat east.
It is a small well kept site site and its in a great location and as everything you need even a fridge to keep perishables in.
It's close to the town which looks very nice, but because of our short stay we were not able to see it when all the shops were open.
At £5 a head the site offers total value for money and I would stay there again without any hesitation.
Hats off to the gentleman owner of the site who let me keep my car there until I could collect it after the end of the canoe trip, he even drove us and all the gear down to the river. No problems at all thanks for everything.

The campsite was advertised as relaxed, which it was!
The campsite owners live on the site but this did not prevent numerous groups of campers being annoyingly loud until the early hours, which is fun if your part of the party but incredibly annoying if you have plans for the next day!
The campsite is conveniently placed for the town of Hay-on-Wye, and the facilities are fine but the arrangement allows for very limited space between tents/Vans and so it feels convenient rather than an escape from home

A lovely site with great views over Hay which is only five minutes walk away, as is Offas Dyke path and riverside walking.
Really even and very well drained, as we got quite a bit of rain while there but didn't get soggy at all. It's quite a long narrow site, but as cars are parked in the middle away from units there is still plenty of room.
Toilet block/wash facilities are kept very clean at all times. There are two toilets and one shower in both mens and ladies, but I didn't have to queue at all while there despite a big group staying a night.
Owners are very helpful and there is lots of information about where to go, what to do etc.
Hay itself is full of places to eat and shop, and there's a co-op too, as well as LOTS to read of course.
The only regret we had was that we didn't buy any of the owners eggs as we were a bit tight for space.
Really good value for money at £5 a head, and will return hopefully soon.

Absolutely gorgeous, friendly small site in stunning location, and an absolute bargain at £5 per person per night. Geared towards walkers/canoeists/cyclists rather than people wanting lots of facilities. Owners are incredibly friendly, relaxed and non intrusive. Shower and toilet area is spotlessly clean, and more than adequate for the number of people on site, even in a busy sunny weekend in July. The fridge/freezer is a great bonus. I have camped all my life and this is one of the loveliest sites I have been to in many years.

A lovely site in a cracking location with stunning views over Hay on Wye to Hay Bluff beyond at a great price. Adequate facilities if not too busy, but may struggle otherwise.1 x 20p more than enough for a shower bargain!
As for prices in Hay, on the high side for me £3.30 for a pint of Carlsberg in Kilverts. Meals around the place were similarly priced & no offers or competition, same with drinks.
We ate at The Three Tuns, good quality & great service but £9.95 for sausage & mash, others ate at The Black Lion & said the same. A lot of our party stayed in B&B's, also considered pricey but there are some reasonably priced if you look. The Indian got the nod & also the chippy.
