The location is about a kilometre from the town centre which is an uphill walk out if on foot. The site is a small camping field which is level and well cared for.

This is a popular campsite and when busy, tents and camper vans are very close together. A nice touch is the the fridge for storing perishable food.

There is also a hot and cold drink machine and a good range of tourism leaflets for use. The toilet block is modern and clean but unfortunately it is far too small with not enough toilets or basins when the site is busy.

This is a small, friendly, well run camp site. The owners have had it for over 35 years and they obviously love their work.

The lady, Mrs Davies, also works in the tourist office and is from that neck of the woods so she's a wealth of information.

It's a stones throw away from the town -well 10 minutes in and 20 back.

It has stunning views over the town and the Brecons. The site is long and narrow and so you are positioned fairly close to one another and it's not by any means secluded from your neighbours.

The mens and ladies have two toilets and a shower each. The shower took 20p and was lovely and hot and ample time for your money. This area also had a coin paid washing machine and dryer and a washing up area.

There's a static caravan with a hot and soft drinks machine and lots of leaflets about the area. Family friendly with a small play area for kids too.

A beautiful campsite with views looking down into Hay and the mountains beyond. This is a small site which seems to attract walkers and cyclists as well as families. The owners are welcoming and the rates very fair.

The site is small (room for about 20 tents) but has excellent facilities. There are separate toilets and shower facilities for men and women which were immaculately clean (a 20p coin is needed to operate the shower which lasted about 5 minutes). The mens facilities seemed a bit smelly but as an all-girl party this did not bother us. Washing up facilities are good with liquid and paper towels provided.

There is an indoor area with information leaflets, table and chairs and a drinks machine as well as an additional washing up area and a large fridge-freezer.

There is a children's play area with a good range of equipment suiting children up to about ten years of age.

The site is very well maintained with the grass and hedges neatly trimmed and clear indications of where to park and pitch your tent.

It is only a 10 minutes walk into Hay which has a good range of cafes, restaurants and take-aways and well as many second-hand book shops. There are plenty of family activities nearby (we enjoyed the Small Breeds Centre near Kington) and National Trust properties to visit.

I would recommend the site to people looking for a peaceful, secluded spot who enjoy decent facilities.

An absolutely stunning little site, with the friendliest owners I have ever come across and as chips too £5 per person and £2.50 for electric hookup. Can get a bit full with tents getting a bit close together, lovely views over Hay on Wye and only a 10 minute walk to this fabulous little village with all the bookshops and general shops you could wish for. Loads of country type pubs, cycling and canoe hire just down the road.
There arent any hardstand pitches so its one to avoid in bad weather, the only downside of the site is the toilet and shower cleanliness, shower curtain was disgusting and the shower area is definitely in need of an upgrade which wouldn't cost a lot, just some new tiles would transform it.

Stayed for 4 nights at this campsite and had a lovely weekend. Tents quite close together but it was Bank Holiday weekend so I guess busier than normal.

Very friendly owners who were very welcoming. Lovely views over Hay on Wye which was about a 10 minute walk downhill. Not a very nice walk in the night though as very dark walking back up - but after a few drinks in the Three Tums it wasn't too bad!

The campsite was clean and tidy with lovely hot water. Shower was lovely and warm with 20p being more than enough for a long shower.

Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

Stayed for 2 nights for £25 which is great value for July on a site where you can easily walk to the town and riverside. The toilet & shower facilities were adequate and clean. Soap always available, water very hot and hand drier worked. Washing up facilities good and a hot/cold drinks machine if you want it. The shower takes 20p pieces but this is only so that water isn't wasted & not a money-making exercise as 20p's worth was ample for a shower.

The views over the town of Hay on Wye and the hills in the distance from this site are absolutely beautiful.

Books, books, books in Hay; there is also a Spar and a Co-op in the town.

The sign isn't very visible if you're approaching from Clyro (downhill).

Will definitely be back.

The campsite has simply wonderful views across the Black Mountains and Hay-on-Wye. It's about a 5 minute walk into the Town of Books, but a 20 minute stroll back up the hill after a few glasses of wine!
The site itself is pretty spacious and well maintained. The facilities could do modernising (and cleaning up a bit) and the shower is coin-operated. However, there is a lounge area to sit in if the weather turns nasty and a hot / cold drinks machine when the fancy takes you.

For anyone who likes to ,bike ,canoe ,fish ,walk or just chill out this site is for you. Site is ideally situated ten minutes from Hay town centre with splendid views over the town. Walks are well marked and start from the adjoining field ,the river walk to the right of the campsite takes you along the river bank with plenty of stretches for you to dip your toes in  ,our dog loved this walk .
Make sure you end the walk at the wine vaults pub
have several glasses of the red dragon ale ,your walk back up the hill will be a dordle
The owners of the site were friendly and helpful , allowing us to leave late on our last day all in all a brilliant  weekend .  i,m thinking should have kept this site a secret to late now , will be back soon .

I have visited this site for some years running for the festival (you need to book for the following year as soon as you arrive, need I say more!). I have always found the owners to be very helpful. They also have a large caravan with fridges/sink and tables in case of really bad weather.

Yes tight for space, but not unduly so, the toilet/showers need updating but apart from that its fine, and the views from the site are stunning! The atmosphere on site is really friendly and relaxed, bookshops only minutes away what more is needed. Rain or shine a great site, and at £4 a night (2005) a bargain.

Excellent location but zero privacy. Tents squished in on top of each other and a view of everyone's car/van parked 3 metres in front of you. Tiny toilet facility. Owner seems to be a bit tight as well. There are freezers for camper's use but he kept coming out and turning them off the minute my girlfriend put something in. He also kept turning out the light in the Ladies while she was in there. "Who pays the electric bills around here?" was his reply. Nice. Unlikely that we'll be back. Pity as it's well located for mucking/staggering about in Hay or walking the nearby hills.
