Didn't take long to find the campsite from the picturesque village of Horton in Ribblesdale an enjoyable 20 minute walk brought us to the farm.
We had a choice of 3 fields to pitch in, the field nearest the toilet and washroom had a few small caravans on and part was reserved for later on that bank holiday weekend.
We pitched in the middle field and although there was not vast areas of flat ground we found a comfortable enough spots, being the first tents pitched.
This is a quiet cheap and cheerful site, although saturday evening was spoilt by some college idiots singing and shouting and getting plastered until the wee hours, lucky for us the winds were howling and blocked off some of the noise. The facilities are basic and when it got busy later on you did have to que to use the one toilet and single washroom, but it was no big effort and we found it quite funny apart from getting there in the middle of the night.
The owner caught up with us on the last day to say hello, we had always been out hiking when he had visited our tent previously and I found him very friendly and courteous and got some good future information from him.
If you don't mind basic facilities at a cheap price £3 per adult per night and a little walk to the village you will enjoy this quite friendly site, the trains going by didnt really bother me or affect my sleep and I will be going back again in the near future.

Had a fantastic bank holiday weekend here with my better half. We had tried to get into the main campsite, but as it was full we were recommended to call here, and I am so glad we did! The other campsite was absolutely packed, yet here we had way too much room! The first paddock up near the farm house contained the tiny toilet and wash room (no showers here I'm afraid!) which were basic (no soap in the loo) and not exactly squeaky clean, and there were a few families with big tents plus one caravan there when we arrived. The kids weren't too noisy however, and the adjoining field is separated by a line of tall trees. We parked up in the adjoining field which was HUGE and on a slope, although we parked at the top by the trees which was at the top of the slope. It was very quiet and the ten or so other campers there were so spread out you couldn't hear them anyway. There was a final bottom field which was full of people who had reserved the field, not sure what for, but again they were so far away you didn't notice them. The village is walkable - the Crown pub is about 10/15 mins walk across fields, although the other pub further into the village is better - and there is a small shop selling all necessities if you've forgotten anything. It rained all sunday and monday so we didn't get much walking done, but there are apparently lots of good walks nearby. There is a cute little cafe in the village which sells walking supplies and maps, and there seems to be a big walking and cycling contigent present, so its obviously a hot spot! Recommended spot for anyone wanting access to the penine way. Yes, it's basic, but you get left alone to do as you please and it's very peaceful. Would definitely go again!

Am in my 30’s and have enjoyed camping for many years. I tend to gather a small group of like minded friends and head out into the wilderness. A small group of us wanted to go camping for the first bank holiday in May. We had left it too late to book anywhere. This was one of two campsites where they didn’t take booking; they worked on a first come first serve basis. I spoke to a lady on the phone who explained they never really get busy and should be fine to arrive on the Friday evening. The campsite was quite large but very basic. There was one toilet for the whole site and no showers. There is 2 washing up sinks and odd water stand pipes dotted around the fields. The site was split between tents and caravans. The caravans are sited closer to the toilet and farm house. The access road is quite long, thin and winding. I am so glad I didn’t have to negotiate the lane with caravan in tow. The site is very cheap £2 per person, per night. But there is a reason for that. Quite close to the camping field is a railway track. Every time a train passes it beeps its horn (something to do with a crossing or bridge). On Friday night the trains were running up to about midnight still beeping. Saturday the last train was about 9pm.The local village is a short 15 minute walk away and has 2 decent pubs and a post office. 15minute drive away and you are in Settle, a small town with a supermarket(Booths), cash machines and few little shops. Anything you need or have forgotten can be bought here. Overall had we enjoyable stay but would class this campsite as a back-up site for when no where else to go.

An accurate description of this site would be a very large field with a toilet and sink + washing up facility (no shower). However, it is priced accordingly (we paid £2 per person per night); walking distance to Horton in Ribblesdale (3/4 mile); and there's plenty of space. We visited on a bank holiday weekend and had ample room. The facilities are basic and could be strained at busy periods. That said, we would visit again and the site is well located for people attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
