A lovely, idyllic caravan and camping site in a woodland setting beside the River Tay. The facilities are utterly spotless, the site owners are welcoming and helpful. Dunkeld is a few minutes woodland walk away, a charming historic town, as is The Hermitage which was designed from root-up (pun intended ;) to be a woodland garden and utterly splendid for Autumn walks. There are many woodland walks and mountain bike trials right on your doorstep and wonderful scenic driving routes around Aberfeldy and Pitlochry. During October, Pitlochry hosts the Enchanted Forest event, which is an awe inspiring spectacular and really shouldn’t be missed.
All the usual caravanning facilities are available and in good condition and they have full recycling facilities. I can’t comment on TV reception because I don’t have one but mobile phone signals were OK, though mobile Internet was very slow (2.5G GPRS).
I would recommend this site to anyone.

Great site - will stay here again for sure, although maybe not in the busy season looking at other reviews. We visited in September and it was fine.
Facilities - excellent, really clean.
Staff - friendly but not in your face.
Location - great in terms of closeness to some fantastic walks, towns and views. We only discovered the area in last 3 days of holiday so will have to return for another holiday to see everything! Dunkeld is about a miles walk away - along a track and then either through a nice wood, or you can go along road part if dark. We did it several times both in the day and night and felt very safe.
Dogs/children - we were here with our 2 dogs and it was great in terms of dog friendliness - loads of walks nearby with plenty of dog waste bins. Dunkeld is one of most dog friendly places we have been. Don't have kids but would say we didn't see any kids on site and wouldn't think it was that child friendly but could be wrong.

Having read some reviews of this site we were not convinced if we should visit or not.
We are glad that we did as this site is beautiful.
The facilities are clean and tidy with plenty hot water. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the location is ideal for touring the area.
We would recommend this site to everyone who likes well run, quiet sites.
Dunkeld is within walking distance and it is worth the walk.
We will 100% go back.

We found this campsite very clean and tidy, the shops were a very short walk away via underpass, lovely area to do a bit of site seeing, perth itself is a lovely town. I would definitely not visit the campsite again as the pitches were to close together, weekends were a nightmare due to the amount of people that were allowed on site, we nicknamed it the greedy site. Dunkeld is a quaint little town not much there but the butchers sell good quality meat and the co-op stays open until late. There was a nice little swimming pool in the next village caravan park which the kids enjoyed. Nice to visit pitlochery, there is the fish ladder and brewerys also some good pubs and cafes.

Return visit, Easter so cold that our water pipes froze. But the toilet block was spotlessly clean & toasty warm. We hadn't realised how many walks are available from the site along the riverbanks - over a long weekend, we took the dog on a different long walk each day.
I'd read the review below before coming, and out of curiosity I paced the distance between hook-ups, which you are told to centre on. Around the perimeter of the site, it's 9 metres: this gives the 6 m between units that CCC uses (a caravan awning would bring people closer). However, the central grass island opposite the bins has 4 EHUs and you can be squeezed much closer here when the site is busy. We were given the option of where to pitch and would have no hesitation in returning. At £17, we thought it good value.

Its a nice site with good clean facilities, however the pitches are very cramped!
It's close to the town of Dunkeld which is lovely
I wouldn't return simply because the pitches are so cramped, we had a motorhome parked at the back of us less than 2 metres away. so close it stopped our satellite signal
I just don't find being so cramped in relaxing we could actually here the conversation in the next unit!

Can't add much to what's been said. It's a well run site that's been with the same family for decades, and they live on site so our late arrival wasn't a problem.
As a motorhome, and able to move easily, we were on two different pitches for our two nights as the site was totally full midweek. First pitch by the river was very pleasant, second one in the middle felt very exposed to view. Both had views up to the hills.
Recycling of everything except plastic.
Toilets were fresh, but only three showers for a fairly big site - they struggled to cope at peak time (I was third in the queue, but there are benches to sit on while you wait). All grass pitches and they stood up well to the rain. Can't speak for any of the other facilities.
Dog walk nearby was not part of the site and we picked up after several other dogs as well. Don't miss walking to the Hermitage - salmon were leaping up the waterfall on our visit. And as others have said, Dunkeld is very much worth a visit.
I'd come back to this site again, though I'd request a riverside pitch if possible next time.

Booked last minute but no problem here. Arrived at about 8. 30 and were warmly greeted and shown to our pitch by the riverside, with what looked like its own little patio area down two steps with built in seats and BBQ space.
Lovely flat pitch. The sun was just setting so just enough time to cook dinner and watch it go down over the old farm buildings.
Showers and toilet block were exceptionally warm and free! Nice quiet site with lots of walks and the possibility of good cycling around the area.
Short walk under the A9 to Dunkeld itself where there are a number of pubs and shops highly recommended
Nb don't know about digital reception but we couldn't get the satellite to work

Just back from our last camp of the year, we are 3 adults with 2 dogs, the tent area is at one end of the site behind an old barn next to the river, pitches were generous and even. The toilets/ showers/utility room are accessed through 2 gates and across a smaller caravan area. The showers are kept clean, the cubicles have a bench as well as a hook so easier to get sorted after your shower! which are hot and no 20p needed!
Site is just off the very busy A9, a footpath will take you to the Hermitage within 5 mins where there are lovely walks in the woods up to the waterfalls, and reputed to be among the tallest Douglas Fir trees in Europe! Walk into Dunkeld along a path by the river (maintained by the forestry commission} will take about 15 mins. Atholl Arms Hotel does a good pub lunch and provides water and bowl for the dogs! I will return here, the great out doors, magnificent scenery and the away from it all ambiance is just right.

Spent two nights here, very nice/clean site. Our pitch looked onto the river, easy access with steps down to it, small sandy area. Tents, caravans & campers are all in separate areas. All level grass pitches. Re-cyling centre. Enclosed area for dish washing.
Toilets are the cleanest we have seen. Three showers would be better if there was more as queue both mornings.
No shop on site, but an ice cream van did come round twice in 1 day. Also through the week fish/butcher vans that visit the site.
Short walk into town. Chip shop is very good & friendly staff. We had drinks at The Taybank bit ruff & ready, food did look good though. The Royal Dunkeld Hotel is a very nice pub with beer garden, although if you drink Rosie wine be prepared to spend £5.50 per glass! Butchers are very helpful great meat.
Lovely walk to river tay, feed ducks & play park.
We will definitely return to this site & recommend it to friends & family. This site definitely deserves to be 4+ star.
