We have just had a wonderful weekend at Cherry tree cottage, family were already pitched up for the week and we went to join them. Welcome packs are placed on the gate for your arrival and all the information you need is in there. There is also a little shed where you can purchase fresh eggs and find out whats going on in and around york, from bus timetables to cycle routes.
Although it rained it did not spoil our weekend. Our 6 and 4 year olds enjoyed feeding the hens, we picked up some leaflets and found Creepy Crawlies, an indoor and outdoor adventure playground for them.
There are restaurants near by and a 24hour co-op and plenty of shopping if that's what you like to do. This site is lovely, clean and peaceful and we will definitely return.

Cherry Tree Cottage, near York is a lovely campsite giving easy access to the city by bus (the stop is 100 yards from the campsite entrance) or car. Well presented the site is a flat field with clearly defined but large pitches.
The owners were very friendly and helpful, giving advice as requested.
Although not far from the ring road around York there was no appreciable noise and the view from our caravan was over a planted field bordered by a hedge of poppies whilst we were there.
This a delightful spot to camp when visiting York.

We stayed at Cherry Tree Cottage over 2 weeks at start of April. Supposed to be to cover School Hols but wife and I ended up having a week each on our own! Good offer on longer stay - this IS how to run a small campsite!
Wonderful little basic site, just what we like. Use your own shower and loo - you've got one in your 'van after all!
Very organised in terms of arrivals and who goes where with rather nifty 'welcome packs' left on the gate etc.
Onsite Eggs are wonderful from the amazing selection of hens.
Great location with respect to proximity to York Park and Ride and alternative bus stop outside direct to/from York.
Small retail park nearby offering restaurants and a Co-op built into petrol station.
I enjoyed some local football games at the community football field across the road.
If there was any downside it was purely down to the British weather and no-one else. The site is quite open so on those windy days the awning/van can flap a bit!
All in all, we enjoyed our stay. Karen & Martin were the perfect hosts. We look forward to seeing you both (& family) again soon.

We stayed for four nights, March 31st-April4th. Delighted to only have to pay for three nights. What a gem of a site, beautiful flat well drained field, helpful site owners and not forgetting the chickens who laid such tasty eggs. Park&Ride to York nearby, 10 minute walk or 2 minutes in the car. Very handy site for travelling north or south .Also N.T. Property about 15 minutes drive. We will be going back in May.

Owners Martin & Karen are extremely welcoming, considerate and helpful, and this continued all through our stay at Cherry Tree Cottage.
The site is managed and cared for to a high standard.
There is an excellent half hourly bus service to and from York just approximately 100 yards from the site entrance.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights extended stay and will be definitely coming back.
Another bonus is the free range eggs, these eggs are of such a high quality and are not available from any regular store.

We stayed for 2 nights, and we could not have been made more welcome. Unfortunately it poured down but the site stayed well drained and puddle free. A nice village pub nearby with good food.York is on the doorstep a short bus or drive away. We went off to Knarsborough again not to far.
We will be staying again and would recommend you give it a try.

We have just returned from spending 2 nights at cherry tree. We had a fabulous stay. The owners were on holiday and was greeted by the owner's Mother. She was very helpful and couldn't do enough for us and I hope he is proud of her. The site is very flat and totally grassed. It is very well drained, we had some very heavy showers and to ground remained firm. As the site is small there was not a long walk to water and chemical disposal. As a new site she advised there is going to be some landscaping. It is a very nice site and I can imagine will only get better with maturity. A good chemical disposal is provided along with 16amp electric hook up and water. There is a small hut which houses information of the local area and a visitor book along with recycling boxes. There is a number of hens along side the site and eggs are available. There is a bus stop 2 minutes walk which took us straight into york
Excellent site alongside a road and railway nearby but despite this we hardly heard them. We will use the site again and highly recommend anybody to stay on this site.

We stayed for 2 nights, very friendly owners. Site is well drained and maintained, fenced off and well spaced, its location is in walking distance to bus route that takes you into York city centre, also there is a park and ride nearby. Different places to eat approx 3/4 mile from the site, a choice of take away or eat in. Good spot for visiting York, don't be put off by it being by a road as this was not a problem.

Well what a wonderful clean and tidy site, they love to recycle, we have stopped many a time since this date, the last being at 2011 at the New Year, since then we have been unable to get in as they have always been full, which is how this wonderful site should be,along with the wonderful laying chickens.
They will help you no-end and they even have extra blocks if you need it and blocks if you need to start a BBQ, extra outside chairs and a clothes line.
It does not have shower blocks like most people want, but this is only a 5 and if you do book make sure you have friends with a caravan.

We stayed on this site for the first fine weekend of the year so far and arrived having not eaten before the journey. We were welcomed by the owners who were very friendly and told us we were their first visitors having just opened. They advised us where to eat locally. There was a fine selection to choose from including Indian,Chinese and also a Fish and Chip restaurant. Plenty of local pubs and villages and plenty to do in the area for all tastes including York which was visible from the adjacent road.
On site there was a good selection of leaflets and information and also a constant supply of fresh eggs from their own free range hens. The eggs were delicious. The site consisted of a field which was beautifully kept and enclosed by secure fencing separating the hens enclosure from the site.
With the limit of 5 units only the site is luxuriously spacious and would provide plenty of room for family games / activities. Although it didn't rain while we stayed the site I was assured was very well draining.
The site was also close to the ring road around York which made it easy to find arrive and depart. The site was well placed for anyone breaking their journey or staying longer and who can resist York and it's delights.
We will definitely stay again, assuming we can get a booking as I envisage this site becoming very well used.
