Went here for the weekend at the last minute with our 3 grandchildren
An excellent site, well looked after and very friendly staff, even in the shop.
Take away a little expensive, but was worth it, as the quality of food and portion size was excellent.
The two outdoor pools were warm enough even though it was not the hottest of weekends.
Only problem was we had pitch 17 and so were constantly bombarded with tennis balls from the older kids who were playing tennis. Suggest the management puts up a higher net and the caravan pitch end.
The kids play areas were very good, clean and looked to be health and safety concious.
Would definitely return again

Had a great time at this lovely campsite.
The site had all you needed, a shop, a lovely outdoor swimming pool, and freezers dotted around for ice packs etc were a nice touch.
Pitches were of a good standard and size, and fitted our vango diablo 900 no problem.
The surrounding area is beautiful and we visited an ostrich farm nearby, which had a lot more than ostriches, including a off road landrover ride which was great fun.
Will definitely come back to this site again, one of the best.

Just returned from site. Bathrooms really clean and warm. Staff seen in there several times a day cleaning.
Plenty of dog poo bins with bags provided. Dog walks a bit lacking in the surrounding area. There was a footpath but with a notice that dogs were not allowed. Found one walk but the dogs had to be on a lead for most of it but nice little river and enclosed field for them to run.
The sites dog exercise area is a very small field. I asked at reception about local dog walks and was told there was just the exercise area.
Take away was good value and served the usual.
Pool looked ok for kids but didn't go in. Play areas kept my children busy and they enjoyed being able to roam the site. Games room a bit disappointing.
Not sure I would go back mainly because of the weather but definitely one of the cleanest sites we have been to

First ever camping experience and loved every minute of it. Despite the bad weather, we all had a great time. Did visit Beatrix Potter in Windermere and Wildlife Oasis in milnthorpe which was excellent for somewhere to go with an 8 and 3 year old when its wet. Only went into Appleby for a pub meal at the the Royal Oak and found it very disappointing. Bog standard food for a ridiculous amount of money and a very unhelpful member of bar staff. Will not be going there again and will avoid at all cost. But that was the only negative thing we had on that holiday. Will definitely go back to the site again, hopefully the weather will be much better.

This is only the 3rd site we have visited as we are new to carvanning.
Was really impressed with the cleanliness and attention to detail. Every tourer has its own space with neat hedges around, electric hook up, water and drainage alongside and a small grass area. Everything was exceptionally maintained.
We were fortunate to be there for three days during the fantasticly warm weather in July, so this made the holiday. We only have a very young baby so did not try the outdoor pool but the kids there seem to love it.
However we did have a few issues. The first was the restaurant/take away. We arrived 10 mins before closing and were told that they had stopped serving (10 minutes early). The only option we had was a takeaway meal but these are very basic and when you have yourself geared up for a nice meal found this a bit annoying.
We decided to drive to Appleby and had read that if you leave the park and do not intend to come back before 10.30pm you need a pass from reception. As we were not sure how long we would be, we tried to get a pass, only to find reception was closed, and you could not get a pass - This meant leaving the car outside the park all night in an 'after hours' car park.
Secondly, as the park has a lot of gravel on the touring pitches, it made pram pushing almost impossible. That said, the gravel parts are only very short.
Overall the site is very nice and we enjoyed our visit. Would definitely come back.

Final stop on our holiday. Wild Rose is an super site with plenty of amenities. This was our 3rd visit.
Unfortunately the weather changed and we had to leave a day early as the rain got so heavy that our tent eventually leaked. (This has now been sorted)
On site the facilities are excellent, the showers are free and you can have them as hot as you like. We did not use the restuarant, but the take away was very good and the shop is very amply stocked.
On this trip we visited Windermere, Keswick and Rheged and the Alpaca Centre near Penrith are also worth a visit.
I have recommended this site on many occassions and will definitely return some time

Stayed here for 3 nights near end of July, was in a family tent it rained non stop! The site is really nice, nice swimming pool a hit with the children. There is a games room but nothing much in it, could be improved. Toilets, showers are spotless, plenty of dishwashing area. Dog walk is a small field. Only down side to this site is there isnt a pub just to relax in, there is a resturant but cant just get glass of wine without a meal. Overall nice site, would I go back again, yes hopefully with a bit of sun !

We used this site as a stop over on our way up to scotland having hired a a motor home.
The site seems well organised and well maintained, we had booked a pitch and on arrival everything was ready for us to check in, you are given a map of the site and shown the pitch.
Our pitch was excellent we were on hazel heights, the pitch was landscaped with dry stone wall and shrubs it also had a water supply and a grey water drain that we did not expect, we had a view over open counrty side.
The toilet and shower block was very clean and well maintained.
All in all we found it a great place to stay the night.

We have just got back from a weekend at the Wild Rose with two of our children (aged 3 and 6) - the baby stayed with his grandparents on this trip!
To stay for 2 nights cost £44. The pitches were spacious and we got to choose where in the field we wanted to be.
The toilet blocks were warm and very clean.
The play areas were OK, but not great. I think new play areas would be a sound investment for the park. The equipment is quite old and the floor needed resurfacing. A lot more could be made of the available spaces.
The pool was OK, but not really big enough for a park of its size.
The rabbits running around were very cute, and a great source of amusement for our three-year-old.
We did not use the restaurant or takeaway.
My only real issue with this park was the noise. Site rules say there should be no noise after 22:30, however this was not the case. I was kept awake on both nights until around 1am by noise. On both occasions this was caused by groups of (not young) men sitting around a barbecue drinking beer. I do think staff should patrol the site (particularly the tent field) at night to check that everyone is sticking to the rules and being considerate to other campers.

Such a lot of glowing reviews. But just felt I should add one or two things.
The site is very well maintained with the touring areas interspersed between the static caravans. I felt we were a little like sardines in the Egglestone Tiers section and as there is no space for the car at the side of the touring caravans these were parked at squiffy angles on the road which made access a bit difficult.
The pool looked ok but it was too cold and windy for us to take a dip. We didn't eat in the Restaurant and the takeaway menu was the usual fare (we did not try it).
The toilet blocks were huge with rows of toilet cubicles on one side and rows of basin cubicles on the other. There were two or three showers in each block (3 blocks). All very nice and clean.
It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into this site. The pitches were well serviced with water, drainage, electricity and TV connection. The motorhome waste waterpoint was spacious to manoeuvre into with sloping sides to avoid missing. Doggy poop bags are provided next to the dog poop bins and there are plenty of dog poop bins!
The super pitches looked lovely with high hedges and a picnic table. Beware, though, the wigwams (or teepees) are little more than tiny wooden sheds!
We were provided on arrival with a lovely brochure with lots of information about the local area; places to eat and about the local church and railway (but no map).
I would just add that this is not a place to go if you want to explore the area. There are not many public footpaths and one public footpath had a notice that dogs were not allowed even on a lead through the field (due to dangerous cattle with calves). There was a short walk to Great Ormside which was very nice and interesting with the Cross Tree and Church, but there's nothing else there except some very old and lovely buildings.
There are two bridleways which I would have liked to explore but when I asked at the site's reception for a map of the immediate area they referred me to the shop.
This seems to be a site where you can sit back (weather permitting) and relax and let the kids make friends and play on the two playgrounds. My children really enjoyed here, but I would have liked something to do.
