Compact enclosed gated site set in the former Baltic Wharf area on Spike Island in the centre of Bristol. Great location for exploring this vibrant city with its café/restaurants culture in the refurbished docks and marina area, university, and cathedrals, or exploring the relative quiet of the nearby country site and River Avon walks.
The downside of the site is the majority of the pitches are very tight on gravel giving the overall feel of a caravan storage park.
We were very lucky having managed to secure a corner park grass pitch during our stay which made all the difference.

Visited recently for 4 night stay. What a great site in a great location.
Wardens friendly on arrival and got to choose our own pitch. Pitches tight but well positioned. Toilet block clean, no matter what time you visited. Only 3 showers but never had to queue even when site was full.
Able to walk out back gate of site onto the riverside promenade. River taxis take you from there into city centre, for discounted rate if you show your cc membership. Lots of pubs and restaurants along the river.
There's even a pub serving food right next door to the site. The ss Great Britain is only a 5 minute walk away and well worth a visit.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return one day.

What a fantastic site with the friendliest of wardens. The site is in the centre of Bristol and you can step out of the back gates and straight onto the the river with river taxis or lovely walks through the city. The SS Great Britain is very close and well worth a visit. So much to see but take your time wandering along the paths stopping at the various cafes and bars. We don't have children but I'm sure they would find plenty of interest in Bristol. You can also cycle out of the city on the river bank and it was relatively flat. The site is secured in the evening with locked gates and although the pitches are small for a club site we didn't feel overlooked due to clever positioning. Spotlessly clean as are all club sites. Can't wait to return.

We stayed here for four nights over half-term. The site is very well kept with excellent toilet and shower facilities. There were also privacy cubicles.
There are digital TV hookups and the shop sells the cables.
It is a small site and the pitches are fairly tight, some are non-awning pitches, so make sure you book the correct pitch type or you could be dissapointed.
There is some general road noise which is to be expected with a city site. I should imagine this would be lessened in the summer months when there are leaves on the trees to break up the sound.
There is no play area, but given the time of year, and dark evenings, this wasn't a problem.
The site doesn't have a dog walk either.
The best thing about this site is the location. It is only about 15-20 minutes riverside walk to Bristol's harbouside with a number of attractions including M-Shed(a free, hands-on museum), @Bristol which is a science museum, and the Bristol Aquarium; as well as loads of restaurants. We ate at Los Iguanos, a mexican restaurant, and if you order before 6. 30pm you can have the cheaper (and great value) lunch menu. The shopping area and cinema is about another 10 minutes walk further on.
As well as the city there is also the Clifton Suspension Bridge in the other direction. We did the cycle route as shown on the caravan club website with our two children (aged 7 and 9). It was nearly all flat and pretty safe for kids with only one extremely short on-road section. All in all this a great site for a city break. We really enjoyed having so much to do within walking distance and not having to use the car once.

Excellent site.
This was our first visit and it will not be our last.
Great Showers.
Friendly Staff.
Quiet.
Fantastic Location.
Good local pubs. (Dog Friendly)
Walked to Clifton village and over the Suspension Bridge for a pleasant afternoon stroll on day one.
Day two walked into the city which, as previously said, is a very pleasant walk alongside the water.
We had our dog Daz with us, a friendly and very well behaves Bichon Frize, and we were not allowed into the Cottage pub with him.
Therefore to all you dog owners take a walk back to the swing bridge (5-10 mins) and visit the Nova Scotia pub. Great welcome from dog lovers, staff and customers alike and the food is fantastic. Just be sure you are very hungry when you go there. Pub grub, but darned good.
If you fancy posh nosh then take a walk across the bridge to the Pump house, again dog friendly and the food looked fantastic. Did not eat there, that is for next visit, but saw the meals being served. Looked pretty good to me.
All in all an excellent weekend which was enhanced by the welcome we received at the Nova Scotia.

This is our third visit to Baltic Wharf and as usual we were very pleased with the friendliness of the wardens, cleanliness of the shower/toilet block and the overall appearance of the site.
The effort put in with the many hanging baskets is to be praised - they where gorgeous.
Pitches do seem small, but we don't spend long on site. In the evening, it was so warm, we just went and sat on the steps just outside the club gate, watching the boats go by! The pub is good too and we enjoyed a bar meal there.
We walked everywhere, including the Clifton Bridge and village. A bit of an uphill climb but well worth it. Only half and hours walk!
The main gate is locked at 8pm and admittance can only be gained with a security card key.
The smaller gate which is by the river and only has pedestrain access is locked at all times, so you need to carry your key. We felt very secure here. The wardens always seemed to be around at all times too which is very reassuring.
We will be back.

Unique site in that the ferry into Bristol centre (every 15 mins) stops near the back gate. Stops on the way at SS Great Britain. Beautifully clean site which in summer is a mass of flowers.
Book in advance and don't arrive before as noon there is nowhere to park outside the gates. It rained all the time we were there so we ate in the pub next door which was excellent.
If I had a small complaint it would be that the site is pretty tight in summer and we definitely needed the mover.
Those without got a push if they asked.

Perfect site to stay for visiting Bristol, excellent location (book early)
As said in previous reviews right by the harbour side and a pleasant walk into city centre.
Loads to do and see here, plenty of info in shed on site.
Considering city centre site some lovely trees and grass areas. Some pitches a little tight but not a problem as your probably out and about staying here!
We walked the tourist map stopping and starting at various pubs along the way. (Cottage Inn right next door good for beer, ok pub food}Farmers market Wed,(Old City) some v good produce. Can walk every where, very enjoyable in the spring sunshine! Lovely walk up the Avon gorge to the Clifton suspension bridge and then over it, fantastic views. Clifton Village area very nice too.
Would just like to say that Baltic Wharf has the best showers ever! Powerful, hot and controllable, perfect. Also the wardens were friendly and very helpful.

Stayed 4 nights last weekend of March. Friendly and helpful welcome. Wonderful harbourside location with access through pedestrian gate. Many things to visit in Bristol the most notable being Brunel's SS Great Britain which is just 5 minutes walk from the site.
Alternatively you can just sit in the sun enjoying the views of the Georgian terraces in Clifton across the river at the next door pub the Cottage. Next to that is a boatyard at the Underfall which is worth a look. Just across the lock gates is the Pump House another pub. If you walk along by the Basin you have a great view down the Avon Gorge to the Clifton Suspension Bridge
The walk into the City Centre is 20-25 minutes. We got around mainly by using the river ferries which call in just near the Cottage
Excellent location - good facilities - deservedly popular

Excellent site - up to usual Caravan Club standards. A city site so pitches a little 'tight' but as we were visiting in Winter we were sitting inside rather than outside so not a problem. Toilet/shower block clean and warm with radio on. Nice hot shower. Wardens helpful and friendly. No play area - which I see as a bonus as it reduces noise. Traffic noise really hardly noticeable considering location. Can't beat location - 20 minute walk along river to City centre or you can catch the ferry. Welcoming pub right next door serving good 'pub grub' at very reasonable prices. Will be back.
