We have been visiting this site for many years and never get tired of the site or Bristol.
Some pitches are a bit small, sometimes its your choice but when the staff are allocating we always seem to be put in a corner or on a small pitch. Facilities are 1st class and always clean and tidy.We like to use the waterside gate and take chairs and a drink to watch whats going on.
Lots of events centered round the water over the year. Harbour Festival is good, even better if it not raining !
Well worth booking early for this site any time of the year.

WOW what a great site, I have to agree with all thats said, we landed as the Bristol Maratime Festival was on and it was fantastic, so much to see and do. The Cottage Pub (left out of gate) has the most tasty Lasagne Ive had in ages, all 5 of us where pleased with our meal. The site is great for a stop over, we booked in January for July, get yourself organized and booked.

Fantastic site, no wonder its difficult to get booked. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Its a smaal site but no feeling of being crammed in. On booking in you will be provided with keys for the toilet block and rear gate. The toilet block is clean and well maintained, although I did have to queue for a shower (only 3 cubicles). There is a dishwashing area and laundry room. There is a well stocked information room. If you turn left out of the main gate, 200 yards down the footpath on your left is a small supermarket selling groceries, newspapers etc (open till 9pm). All pitches seem to be large gravel hardstandings. It feels quite private, with hedge and mature trees. The rear gate opens up onto the riverside with a well maintained esplanade. Its a 25 minute walk to the City Centre or 10 minutes to the SS Great Britain (Well worth a visit, ticket lasts all year and can visit as often as you like, lots for the kids to see and do, displays on all decks, ticket also included entrance to the sailing ship / Galleon the "Mathew" a reconstructed ship as used by Cabot. We walked into the city and got the Ferry back (discounts for Caravan Club members on production of club card). I would recommend the open top bus tour around Bristol, don't forget to ask for a discount voucher from site reception. Ticket lasts 24 hours so you can hop on & off. Had a lovely pint in "The Cottage" pub outside the site, nice meals, sat and watched the river traffic from the patio. This is a great site, will certainly visit again, if I can get booked!

Book early: this site is so popular all year round that without booking well in advance you could be disappointed. We booked two months ahead and still couldn't get the exact dates we wanted. Once you get here, you'll understand why. The location is by far the best of any city-based camping site in the UK. Close to the heart of the city, you step out of your own 'back door' straight onto the harbour wall. Then you can walk or cycle for miles and never get bored. The place is stuffed full of character, charm, interest and stimulation. Next door to the club site is the Cottage PH - the food is good for the price and the location on the harbour wall is superb: boats, activity, shipyards, the lot - we even had a choir rehearsing on the opposite bank. Yet apart from normal city buzz, the site was very quiet. And if you take the open-top bus tour around the city, try to get Pam as the guide. She's quirky, knowledgeable and makes the trip even more fun. Access to the site is easy for both motor homes and caravans. The MH service point is easily accessible and the site has all the usual Caravan Club refinements, including spotlessly clean shower/toilets, small shop, information point and excellent and friendly wardens who actually seem to love their work. Sorry - I sound like an advert for Bristol CC, but this really is one of the best sites winter or summer. We'll be back.

August 2004 Location, location, location, who wants television when you're so close to the wharf and city centre, it's up to the high standards of the Caravan Club and very helpful staff. It did get fairly lively at the pub next dood but who cares when you're on holiday.

Jan 2004 Excellent city centre campsite, with very easy access to Bristol and the Historic docks. Don't expect a view though, campsite is quite small with lots of chippings and not much grass, next to the wharf and a private housing estate. Good ammenities on site and very clean. Site provides you with a key to the gate at the bottom of the site which leads out onto a walk along the wharf and a 20 minute walk into the centre of Bristol. The site has a shed with a VERY comprehensive array of leaflets and information sheets about the area, whats on!, restaraunts take-aways etc and there is also a payphone. No tv reception but you can hook up through a co-axial cable, available on site to BUY only (about £15 for 25m) quite reasonably priced. Enjoy Campers!
