Very large council run site. When we stayed there were very few campers / caravans. Only one toilet block open - but very clean and sufficient for the numbers there.
Lots of noise from motorway - which is minutes away. Food - Toby Cavery is a must - excellent value. For people staying a couple of days and families the theme park looked like it would be very popular (closed when we were there).
All in all a good one night stop over for us on our way further North - not somewhere for peace and quiet - but looks like would be a great fun family place in summer.

The noise from the local roads and also motorways was loud. The attendants were not always around, which left one hanging around when trying to leave, for example.
There is a funny system where you have to leave £10 deposit for a key for the toilets, but when there are 4 of you, all sharing one key, this is insufficient.
The site was cramped and they had crammed in too many motorhomes into too small a space.
That said, the toilets were clean and at only £13.50 for the night one cannot really complain.

We came here last weekend, we had been before and the site had all the usual things small shop hook up hard standing swing park etc etc . Apart from the noise from the Traffic on the M74 and the A 725 it was ok.
But this time what a shock! Toilets were dirty and need a coat of paint, water and waste points needing fixed, new taps etc Electric hook up boxes doors missing all in all the site is very run down .I think the only reason it managed to get 4 stars is because of the theme park next door and its not part of the caravan site. Swing park very poor 2 swings and a bit of grass . One of the wardens very grumpy as he stated He would rather have been in the pub in the pub on a Friday night than doing this ,'wouldnt we all' We have stayed at other council run parks and they have been great Strathclyde park should take a look at some other parks in the area . As for food you can go to the Toby carvery across the road good food but very busy.

Been to this site a few times now when attending events in the park. Clean and tidy site with all grass pitches which are not ideal in heavy rain although perfect in any other weather encountered. Toilets are a little dated but were always clean and tidy. It's next to a busy dual carraigeway but you never hear any road noise. Good location for M&D's for a fun day out and for eating and drinking. Also literally a few steps from the Toby Carvery for food or drink.

We stayed for 3 nights and the park was a pleasant surprise. The site seems to have a very relaxed attitude to where you pitch, lots of space to chose from when we were there.
The toilet blocks were ok, a lot better than I've been used to! They even had hairdryers.
We made a very easy journey to Edinburgh from the site and had a fabulous day there (great city if you haven't already been).
The loch and surrounding area is very pleasant and offers good cycling.
I'd definitely return there again and recommend it.

OK site, lots to do in the country park, fair, loch, cycling etc. It was no where near full so felt quite spaceous, toilet where ok, a large family where in the next bay to us and a few people had radios playing but it was quiet at night. The country park looked nice, large lake (loch) and the theme park to keep kids amused. I can recommend the Toby Carvery, excellent food and with a fish and vegetarian carvery option as well as a seperate menu. 2course £6.95 before 7pm, £7.95 after, it was very popular. We only used it as a stop off on the way home, and after wild camping for 2 weeks it was a bit strange being around people again. I think there are nicer places in the highlands, but this isn't a bad place we'd use it again as a stop over. It depends what type of site you are looking for.

We stayed here for 1 week in august. price wise it was good £95 for 8 nights for caravan with awning and electric. site was large and clean but toilet blocks were not up to much and we were next to the best one (block 2) so the warden said.
There is a reception which sells basics like sweets and cans of soft drinks
There is only a set of swings on the park but a 5 minute walk along the side of the loch and there is a great park with lots of climbing frames etc in strathclyde park itself
Site was ok for a council run site and we would visit again

Returned from this site last week and found it to be very nice. We used this site as it was only 5 miles from where my daughter lives and very handy is just of the M74.
The toilet and showers where clean but in need of updating perhaps, but we use our own. The site is near to Strathclyde Country Park and MDS Leisure Park but you can not here it from the site. The loch is nice to walk around. I would say it would get very busy in the summer. The site has gates on which are locked at night - you have a key. Security men go round the park at night. We will go again later on this year

August 2002 Having stayed at Strathclyde Country Park on numerous occasions, we keep returning year after year to use it as a base for touring Central Scotland. The Caravan and Camping site is set in the country park which has every possible attraction close at hand. Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Loch Lommond are all within easy reach of the park and provide the main tourism locations within Scotland. The Park itself has a warden which covers security on the site and these can both be seen or contacted with ease should any matter arise. The Caravan park is set into 'coves' where both hard-standing and grass pitches are available. There is approx. 6 toilet/shower blocks which are spotless and are cleaned twice a day by an on-site warden who is available from 9am-9pm in the reception, where basic goceries can be bought along with gas supplies should you run out.The showers are open 24hrs and are free, which makes a change from having to wait during certain designated hours which happens on a lot of campsites. Access to the site which has a security barrier is by swipe card which requires £5 deposit which is returnable on check-out. After 9pm at night a lockable gate is in use to which all campers will be issued with a key. The Park itself has every possible sport that can be undertaken including all watersports which can be arranged at the camp reception. The country park would be ideal for any keen mountain bikers. A two minute walk from the site will take you to an Innkeepers Fayre pub (The Strathclyde Park Inn) which serves excellent meals and the usual beers within the public bar, which never gets crowded and has a more selected customer, this is adjoined by The Holiday Inn hotel. I cannot speak highly enough of the facilities that are available within the site and as I earlier stated we return at least twice a year for weekend breaks and stay for 10 days in August for which we have done for the last ten years. The staff on the site are friendly and helpful and with the whole park being run by North Lanarkshire Council it really is kept to the highest standards and if I remember correctly it has 4 stars from the Scottish Tourist board. The Park is easily reached from the m74 motorway at junction 5
