Just home from our 3 visit to Achindarroch. Like all other reviews this is a nice quite site always clean etc.

Anne and Dick are really helpful I had phoned prior to our visit cos our friends got married just before we went a I asked Anne if she could decorate their pitch so when we arrived there were balloons and a banner to the surprise of our friends.

It's nice to know that pets are welcome as well cos not many site allow dogs, the campsite has dog toilet and poo bags(although we always carry our own)

We will be back to see you again.

First time at this gem of a site! Pristine toilet block, the owner extremely friendly and helpful, and she won't allow noisy and messy people spoil other campers holidays! Got a huge midge problem though, only to be expected in Scotland - take a good repellent!

Maybe the only downside could be that there seem to be few local facilities, shops etc, but it's quiet, perfect for a relaxing holiday, good area for walking with a dog, beautiful scenery.

Not far from Glencoe, Fort William. Would definitely go back.

Achindarroch campsite is situated in the quiet valley of Glen Duror and is surrounded by picturesque views of rolling hills and mountains that makes Scotland such a lovely place to live / visit and provides this part of the country with the great honour of being the outdoor capital of the UK.

On arrival, we were met by the owners, who presented as being very friendly and helpful and provided us with a tour of the campsite facilities, prior to showing us to our pitch. Also included in this induction was a Welcome Pack with some information on the local history of the area, as well as leaflets on local walks and attractions, etc.

The tent pitches were flat and well drained, despite the heavy rainfall when we arrived and at times during our 5 day stay (But that’s the joy of camping!).

The toilet and free (always a good sign) shower facilities appear to be relatively new and were clean and well maintained by the owners. There is a small camper’s kitchen in the same building, which contains sinks for washing-up, food prep areas and various other items and equipment that can come in handy such as laundry facilities, an electric kettle, microwave, toaster and a fridge freezer.

We were also able to purchase Wi-Fi access at a cost of £5 per week, which is very reasonable, compared to some other campsites we have visited.

The campsite and surrounding village is very quiet, but is good base for touring, with Glencoe, Fort William and Oban, all within easy reach.

There is also a cycle / walking lane towards the rear of the campsite, which when completed (estimated 2014) will link Oban to Fort William, via Duror, and will eventually join up with the Ballahulish and Appin routes.

There are also some good forest walks around the Glen and there are two Munros within 5 miles of the campsite, and of course, Ben Nevis is not too far away either, just outside Fort William.

The main downside relating to the location of this campsite is that there are no shops close by, even to buy essentials such as milk and/or a newspaper. The closest shop to the campsite is a CO OP, located in Ballachulish, and is approximately 7. 7 miles (or around 16 minutes’ drive) from Achindarroch campsite.

Overall, we enjoyed a pleasant time at Achindarroch campsite, which has a lot of potential to become very popular in the seasons to come.

Therefore, all credit to the owners (only in their third season of running this campsite) who work very hard, take pride in what they do and are genuinely trying to make this a good quality camping / touring site.

We have passed through Duror on many occasions but never stopped to explore the area and we are glad we eventually did. Just had three nights at this superb site and we can't wait until we return.

It has been described as a hidden gem and it is perfectly described. Due to it's position at the bottom of a highland glen the campsite is quiet.

The pitches are large and level with a toilet block that is possibly the cleanest we have ever come across with excellent showers and loads of hot water. There are a number of waterpoints around the site with re-cycling facilities in the campers kitchen.

The Campers Kitchen is excellent and a huge bonus with a kettle, toaster!, microwave!and a fridge freezer which is great for keeping that camping essential cold, (wine in case you hadn't guessed)There is also a washing machine and a tumble drier in case you want to or need to do any laundry and ample areas for washing up the dirty dishes.

The owners take great pride in the standard of their campsite and the facilities they provide and it shows in the care that they take to make sure everything is perfect for your stay.

Anne is always easy to find and great for information about the local area, places to go and the excellent walking locally, in fact the site is perfectly placed on the cycle/walking route from Oban to Ballachuilish and is only a few miles north of the Castle Aaargh of Monty Python fame (Castle Stalker).

All in all an excellent place to visit with excellent facilities, loads to do and an excellent host, we will be back soon Anne.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Achindarroch campsite. Stayed in a Pod with grandchildren aged 11 years and 3 years. They just loved it. Ann & Dick can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. They are the perfect hosts.

Facilities are very well equipped, clean and well looked after. Great to have a campers kitchen with sinks, washing machine/dryer, kettle, toaster, fridge and recycling facilities.

Lots to do in the area, we particularly enjoyed local walks, Neptunes Staicase, the Harry Potter steam train, our meal at the Holly Tree at Kentallen and just messing about at the campsite.

The children want to go back again now! We will certainly return.

Lovely little site in a picturesque location.

Lady running site was so helpful & she went out of her way to assist when we had vehicle problems during our stay.

Toilets excellent & some of the best I've seen.

Area wise probably not enough to see or do in the Glencoe area to draw us back, lovely as it is it just lacks that wow factor you get in the lake district.

There was a beach a 5 min drive away, clean but nothing special & other than a few hotels a welcoming real ale pub was a good 10 min drive away.

Absolutely beautiful site with views to match

Stayed here for 4 nights during our tour of Scotland - overlooked by the Monroe mountains part of the Ben Nevis/Glencoe Range - had a lovely rainbow to complete the picture on one evening - a view to remember

A walk of 15 mins or 5 mins drive to see the views of Loch Linnhe at Cuil as recommended by owner of site - a hidden gem

Toilets and showers spotless and site flat so good for a tent

Also took the gondala ride to halfway point of Ben Nevis and walked the couple of easy trails up there weather good that day so views excellent - worth the money for that alone

Took the ferry over to Isle of Mull for another fantastic day out - kids will love Tobermory or as they know it Balamory a quaint village with lots of lovely nooks and crannies to explore

The area was, on reflection following our whole trip, one we would come back to and the site one we would go back to most definitely

Just returned from a wonderful 5 nights at this site. If you are looking for a swimming pool bar or entertainment this is not for you. But if you're looking for peaceful quiet beautiful surroundings then this is definitely the place to be. The owners are very friendly and most approachable and nothing is too much effort for them. Facilities are excellent and always very clean and tidy. Pitches are spacious and well drained. There is even a welcome pack which is full of information on the history of the local area. Also more info in the campers kitchen. We are really looking forward to going back soon.

We stopped here last year. Lovely small quiet site. Exceptional clean toilet and shower block. Also a room for washing pots with a microwave, washing machine, fridge, books and information leaflets. Level pitches which drained very well after down pours. Good value for money, especially the wi-fi. The site was dog friendly. Ann the owner was very friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. Nice walks from campsite, pubs and hotels were driving distance. Will be going back next year.

Great site, very quiet, owners very helpful and friendly.

Good base for touring as Oban, Fort William, Glencoe all within easy reach.

Cycle lane also goes past site which is great for days out, walking the dog or just an easy stroll.

Toilet facilities are excellent as is the campers kitchen. Everything you need and more.

I was also able to buy wifi accesses for the week which meant I could get digital radio.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing break away.

Would like to visit again.
