Found this site via this web site, and pleased we did.
A very well kept site with, the facilities are fairly basic, but very clean and well looked after. Ample hand wash soap, toilet rolls etc. Very hot free showers. There is also a washing machine for campers use. Considering the site fees, you get more than you pay for on more expensive sites. Great when you are on a budget.
The site owners keep the grass down to a tidy length, mowing over when units leave, and the grass is cleared away, so no grassy feet entering your unit.
The site is in a lovely position with most pitches overlooking Corfe Castle. There is a filling station/Spar shop at the top of the road. (which was the cheapest petrol locally)
There is a footpath to Corfe Castle just down the road from the site which we walked several times. The countryside is just beautiful.
If you are into steam trains you are well provided for. The station is a few 100 yards down the road.Great to hear them puffing away and seeing the steam over Corfe.
You get beautiful sunsets from the site.
Lots of places to visit locally and it is beneficial if you are am member of the National Trust as besides the castle there are many car parks to beauty spots owned by the trust so you save a fortune on parking when using these sites.
A jem of a site which we hope to use again in the future.

We have had a great time staying at this very rustic campsite. Anyone looking for a basic and natural peaceful location will not be disappointed.
Wonderful views on the Corfe castle and a gentle whistle from a steam train in the distance adds to the character. Toilets are a fair distance but the facilities are spotless and well looked after.
Location is perfect for exploring magnificent sights- Lullworth Bay and Durdle Door.

Site is in a lovely location in Purbeck with great views towards Corfe Castle. Touring caravan area is at bottom of site so nearest to toilets and facilities. It’s slightly sloping (like the tent fields) so chocks will be required. We had a bit of rain while we were there and it drained very well, lovely mowed grass and easy to get the pegs in!
The owners were very helpful, showing us to our pitch and advising us on local attractions, pubs etc!
Toilets and (free) shower facilities are basic but clean and there are plenty of taps and bins around the site including those for recycling. All pitches in caravan area have EHU and TV signal is pretty good, got plenty of digital channels through my aerial. Children are well catered for with swings and football goals etc. The site only lets people camp on the outside of the tent fields which leaves a huge space in the middle for playing etc which gives the site a very open and un-cluttered feel even when it is full as it was for a time while we were there.
Guy is a van comes around every morning about 8.30 selling papers, milk, bread, doughnuts, sausage rolls (almost everything really) and he was very good!
There is plenty to do around this area without the need to travel far, Swanage is very nice, Studland Bay beach is great and allows dogs which was great for us. The Swanage Steam Railway runs from Corfe to Swanage and the Harmans Cross station is a 10min walk from the site. Corfe Castle is worth a visit, it’s NT so free entry and parking if you are a member. Good pubs in Harmans Cross.

We decided to go to Swanage for the Bank Holiday weekend. As most campsites in the area you don't book for, we turned up on the day, after trying two other campsites. (Swanage Coastal park was full, Herston yards was extremely overpriced, £35pn) So we went to Downshay farm, and were so glad we did!
On arrival it was slightly confusing as to whether we could just drive up to the field and pitch, there were no signs of the owners and no visible instruction signs so we decided to choose a nice spot and set up, then it became apparent everyone was doing the same. The toilets were very good and clean, with plenty of soap and toilet paper. There was a small washing up area and water points, which had signs stating the cost, when the money would be collected (£12pn for a large tent and 2 adults), and how to contact the owners if required. The campsite felt very safe, almost like a little community.
The views from this site are fantastic and it was great to see Corfe Castle and the steam train in the distance. The area is very peaceful having 2 nights perfect sleep however one night was interrupted by a loud group next to us who were up till 5am one morning, but the campsite is awake and buzzing by 8, in time for the man with his van shop to arrive, so I think they regretted it the next morning!
The location of this site is fantastic, near to petrol stations, shops, Swanage town, Kimmeridge Bay, Tyneham Village, Durdle door and the Military range walks, all of which we visited. We will definitely be back, hopefully with better weather next time, and would love to visit this site again.

We have just come back from a lovely bank holiday weekend at Downshay Farm and although we would normally stay at somewhere a bit more well equipped we found this site a pleasant change. A nice quiet location with great views and having the swanage steam railway on your doorstep made travelling around much more exciting for the children and meant that I didn't have to worry about parking. As many others have said the site is all on a bit of a slope but if you are well seasoned campers you wont find it much of a problem.

This was the perfect start to our family camping adventures. With an 11 month old baby and young black labrador we wanted something safe, simple, friendly and clean with the opportunity for walks and other dog and baby friendly activities; we got this and more besides. There is no pre-booking or check-in on arrival, you just turn up, pitch your tent and start relaxing. The friendly farmer comes round each morning to collect fees (currently a daily tarif of £4 per adult, £1 per car and £2, £3 or £4 for a small, medium or large tent respectively); you can pay as you go if you're not sure how long you might stay.
We found both shower blocks and washing up points fine and clean; there are bag fulls of toilet rolls hanging up, plenty of hot water, electric points for hair-driers, freezers for your ice-packs and the showers are free. There are no baby change facilities but this wasn't a show-stopper. The site does not offer electric hook-up and motorbikes are not permitted, however the site does seem to attract mainly family groups rather than adult groups anyway. There is a separate field with hard standing caravan pitches complete with its own shower block. We didn't have need to use the grocery van which visits each morning but this seemed very popular. There is plenty of space for games, a circle of trees was always full of children and a couple of football goals complete with nets were in the top field. The sloping site is absolutely worth it for the stunning views that you get with steam trains regularly passing close by and Corfe Castle in the distance, (the Kirrin Castle of Enid Blyton's Famous Five books).
There is so much to do locally including plenty of walks to suit those with four legged friends. Swanage is a short drive away and we also drove the 15 minutes to Studland and walked to Harry's Rocks for lovely views across the bay to Poole. (Dogs are allowed on the south beach). We also took the steam train from Harman's Cross, which is just 5 mins walk from the campsite, to Corfe Castle. You can buy tickets for the train at a slightly discounted rate from the farm house. As I spent my youth with my head buried in Famous Five stories I found the whole thing rather exciting and it was the first train ride for our daughter and dog! There is even a shop in Corfe Castle village which sells 'lashings of ginger beer' and various Enid Blyton memorabilia.
In summary a fantastic family friendly, relaxing, clean site that we recommend and would definitely return to.

Just returned, site is excellent if you are looking for a basic and cheap site. Old wash block is very dated and cramped, but the new one which looked like it had just opened was nice and clean and with plenty of hot water. The whole site is on a slope, although if you have the chance to drive around before you pitch, you may be able to find a relatively flat bit. A mobile shop came round each morning which sold fresh bread and milk etc, very handy. Great location with fantastic views down the valley towards Corfe Castle, and the Swanage Stean railway.

Great Campsite for Kids. There is an 'den' in the middle of the bottom field that the children played and all met up which was great. Bit of a trek to the toilets, however the views are worth it. New toilet block opened up whilst we were there so there is plenty of facilities around. Even man in the van with his supplies of donuts (and other essentials!) made this campsite value for money and worth another visit.

This was our third visit to this site. Although the whole site is at an angle and camping on a flat pitch is difficult the good points of this site make up for the slight 'roll together' at night. The views are superb, the farmer is friendly and relaxed and the facilities are clean and more than adequate. Last Saturday a new shower/toilet block opened giving 2 more showers and toilets for both men and ladies. Showers are free and there is loads of hot water for washing up in the washing up area. There are no allocated pitches and you just turn up and pitch where you want. The farmer comes around in the morning and collects money. We will definitely return to this site as it has everything we need and is well positioned for some great beaches.

Spent 2 weeks here with my wife and 4 week old baby just love the place. Yes it is a sloping site but if you pick you pitch carefully you wont have a problem. Shower and toilets are basic but spotless. Mr pike the farmer has just turn one off the farm buildings into some more showers they were just finishing them of when we came home. Plenty of walks from there and you can get the train back which is nice. Also the farm house is now selling tickets for the train between 9 and 1030am you get a discount as well.We cant wait to go back. LOVE THE PLACE.
