I can't wait to go back and visit this site. Only our 5th site to visit and it looked absolutely fab. Great walks, leisure centre close by, Berwick and the beach just on the doorstep. The local Chinese Takeaway will even deliver to the site for you!
Unfortunately, when we went it was only for one night to pack up the van for winter, the weather was bitter and with it being right up on the top of the harbour viewpoint it was extremely cold and very windy. (I thought we were going to blow over in the night!)
We were pitched directly beside the main East Coast line too, but to be honest, barely noticed the noise and the kids loved hearing them and then watching them go over the bridge in the distance. I think it stops at 9pm.
Super clean facilities with a code to get in so you know no off-site beachdwellers can use them.

Wonderful area Berwick is lovely especially the walk along the town walls and watching the Gannets diving by the lighthouse, Baburgh Castle, The Farne Islands and Lindisfarne are all within easy reach. We pre booked train tickets to Edinburgh - don't bother it's cheaper buying them from the Station. If you like Fresh fish like we do go to Eyemouth there's a great fishmongers there and cheap. The site itself is typical CC -well cared for and up to their usual standard. It's right by the East coast main line so you need to like trains. Most pitches have great views of the harbour but not all of them. Watch out for speed humps on the approach road they are a bit severe. All in all a great site in a great area- Enjoy!

Firstly, I have to pass on our overiding first impression; this site is cramped; particularly towards the eastern end where, when the site is full, you'll find yourself tiptoeing between guy ropes and A frames to get yourself onto your pitch. Also I must point out that there are a number of pitches which aren't able to take a unit much over about 4.5 to 5 metres long.
We also didn't find the Wardens particularly friendly or knowledgeable, however given the other comments on here, maybe we caught them on a bad day.
Site facilities are up to usual CC standards, spotless as ever, however the site could possibly benefit from a slightly larger 'family bathroom' (for those of us with very small children)
The site is ideal for Berwick and I would recommend a walk around the old walls. Remember all day parking tickets are valid in all Northumberland CC car parks.
Being in the middle of a council estate doesn't detract from the site, however it certainly made us think we'd taken a wrong turning!
All in all, I'd have to say a little disappointing by CC standards - certainly in terms of space

Arrived around 7pm with no booking - told they had 3 pitches and ok to stay but couldn't pay until next day as they were shut for the evening - therefore couldn't leave before 9am when office opened.
Site immaculate as always for CC. Showers hot and clean. Views from site depend on pitch - the site is on a hill with houses between site and sea. Railway right behind site but didn't cause disturbance.
Great walks in Spittal from site along promenade.
Site very handy for Berwick and Holy Island. Shops in Spittal selling basics.
Good site - very clean.

Site facilities meet the normal Caravan Club high standards. Pitches have views out to sea. The estuary and into Berwick. We could sit in the van and watch the seals swimming in the bay, although binoculars were useful. The railway runs along the back of the site, trains are frequent but were not troublesome as the embankment seemed to provide some sound insulation. We were lucky enough to see steam trains passing.
Walking into Berwick takes 30 minutes and directions are provided with your information pack on arrival. The cliff walk to the north of Berwick is a little boring as it passes through a static caravan site and then is squeezed between a golf club and the cliff edge, this is then replaced by a field of oil seed rape.
The cliff walk to the south is much more interesting with rocky cliffs, vast sandy expanses, dunes, rock pools and views to Holy Island. We cycled to Holy Island on folding bikes using the sustrans route. If you want to do the same it is worth noting that the sustrans route shown on the OS map is now out of date; the signed route leaves the road at Beachcomber camp site and follows what is marked as a footpath on the OS map, this is an off road route and crosses a field on a grassy path, when you reach Seaton Sluice you need to follow the surfaced track and not the footpath around the marsh. The surfaced track is the new Sustrans route and it brings you out at the car park on the landward side of the causeway to Holy Island, this track is only signposted from the car park end and is easy to miss coming from the north. This new route is much shorter than the the previous one shown on the OS maps and is a relatively easy pedal.

This really is a site that lives up to its name - what a great view of Berwick and the sea from your pitch!
This is a lovely site, immaculately looked after, and in a great location. We were even more pleased to find an M&S Simply Food store half a mile away!
The only things that would make this site better would be if it had a children's play area and full service pitches.

Had a brilliant few days. Could not fault the site at all. Toilets and showers were spotless and lovely and warm. Good heating in the shower block. Most pitches were level with some breath taking views of the bay.
Local amenities and shops close by, basics could be bought at the camp site. The wardens were very welcoming.
Good area to explore with some unspoilt bays and lovely walks.
Berwick was five mins away in the car and a walk round the city walls should not be missed.
Overall could not ask for more!

I'll get my complaint out of the way first; after driving for 6 hours and spending the thick end of £60 on petrol it wasn't the best news to be told that the site was full and that only waterlogged grass pitches remained; especially as we had booked on-line at the CC web site way back in May (2 vans arriving later were even told that they couldn't get on despite booking back in January!).
But it shouldn't reflect badly on a great CC site, the wardens were friendly despite the weather problems, (it is the CC rules that I blame for the shortage of pitches, not the wardens). The views were lovely, although most of the site has restricted views; we had a superb one and it really made for a nice week. The toilet blocks, water points and hardstandings are all to the best standard and should be familiar to CC members.
It is a very sloping site, so make sure the chocks and blocks are in the van; but we loved the site and we loved the area. Berwick is very nice, Holy Island and Bamborough castle are worth a visit; but we spent a day letting the train take the strain from Berwick to Edinburgh and would highly recommend leaving the car on the site and going to the Scottish capital by train for a great day out. It's a fair trek up to the most northerly English site but definitely worth it.

Agree with all of the above regarding the toilet/shower block area. We stayed for 3 nights and had a very enjoyable time, however if your a 'tenter' beware as they only permit small tents on site and seem to have only 6 or 7 tent pitches at £13 a night for 2 adults. It is quite exposed but as the tent pitches are next to a dry stone wall there is an element of shelter provided. We found it an excellent place to explore the Northumberland coastline and I can recommend a trip to Seahouses and the Farne Islands, also Edinburgh is within easy reach by car or train. As for Berwick it is an interesting town and about a 20-30 minute walk away. It has a lovely Italian restaurant on the high road bridge, I can also recommend the Barrels Alehouse at the north end of the lower bridge. Avoid the Weatherspoons though as The Leaping Salmon is not the nicest or friendliest pub in the town and there are far better about. I would definitely revist this site and would whole harteldy recommend it even if it is not a site designed for us teneters ;)

We stayed here over the Easter weekend and despite a gale and no electricity on the first night and ice and snow on the following two nights, the site is rather exposed, I would highly recommend this site.
On a steep hillside overlooking Spittal Beach, the pitches are level and tiered, so most pitches have a good view of the sea, a good road services the site so there are no problems getting onto your pitch. The toilet / shower block was clean and very warm, much needed in the arctic conditions we experienced, with about five shower cubicals, private wash rooms and clean toilets. A plate wash area, chemical disposal points and a laundry are all available.
Ideal as a base for exploring the coast to Holy Island, Seahouses, Craster and it's Castles. Berwick is an interesting town with it's fortified walls and Georgian houses well worth a visit.
I would return to this site.
