I don't know what other people think but this camp site is fantastic value for money.
You get what you pay for, that's why I am going back time and time again, each time is different the weather wont spoil it for me or the family, the area has fantastic views of the loch long and the arrochar alps.
Admittedly the camp site is very basic not much there but as stated, scenery is great, I and the family will be back there in august and we will enjoy every day we are there no matter what,
local shops are friendly towards us strangers, and so are the pubs, there are a few local pubs, but I really love the ben arthurs bothy
very warm and friendly with great views over looking loch long, excellent food, and freezing cold ales.

Read previous reviews but as it was a couple of blokes, with not very high standards, camping to do a bit of walking thought it would be ok. How wrong was I! Arrived about 5pm, nothing open but was directed up to 'big house'.
Could see stove on through door but no answer. Took walk round back were we saw 'toilet and shower block'. It was beyond description and the dog waste at the door swung it for us.
There is a new shower block connected to a snack bar at the front but this was locked. Overall the site looked shabby, grass not cut, statics moss covered etc.
This was two weeks before Easter weekend so season may not have started yet but regardless of the beautiful location Arrocher looking a bit tired. Ben Arthur Bothy, nice lounge, good food, decent Guinness.

I spent 9 days at this site, yes its very basic, but for only £4 per person per night its good enough.
There is a new toilet / shower block, but its not yet completely finished, it will be great when it is finished as its clean and modern.
The old toilet / shower block is very rundown (converted outbuildings) and have no heating.
There is a very good snack shop on site next to the petrol station, where you can get a full breakfast for £3.50, or Bacon & Egg rolls for just £1.50 plus other rolls and drinks (they make a lovely cup of tea).
There is a small shop about 100 yards up the road where you can get basic foods and newspaper, lottery.
There is also a small post office/ shop about 200 yards from the site.
There are several guest houses and Hotels all within 500 yards who's restaurants / Bars are open to non-residents.
I did several stunning walks from the site, I think you could do a different walk every day for a week without even using your car, so if you like walking and don't mind very basic facilities, then this could be ideal for you.
They don't allow groups only family's and couples.

Stayed at this site overnight to break up long journey from Harrogate to Morayshire. Arrived fairly late and drove into site that had various static caravans in a wide range of conditions, from pretty reasonable to derelict! Called owner to double check we were at the right site which she confirmed, asked her where we could camp and she said anywhere we wanted. Site was very wet but managed to find a suitable pitch. Facilities were basic, and old and not in a good state of repair. To get to toilet area was a bit of a walk, very dark and as children pointed out far too creepy as it was situated around the back of a 'scary' house. In dire need of modernisation!
In the morning however we were allowed to use the toilet / shower block at the back of the takeaway owned by the owners daughter which was new, clean and a million times better than the site facilities, hopefully this will be used full time soon! Site only had 1 other tent on, otherwise seemed to be used by long term statics. Very strange site, though can't fault owner who was friendly though we never met her face to face!
Lovely location, 50 yards from the top of Loch Long, beautiful!

At £4.00 a night, this is the cheapest campsite I've ever stayed on, but unfortunately as they say, you get what you pay for. The facilities at the site were easily the most run down I've ever seen, and are in need of modernisation. I suspect that the site is more set up for static caravans, which seemed to take up most of the space. There was one shower in the gents' toilets, and there wasn't any hot water coming out of it on the first evening. To be fair, when I mentioned this to the owner she said she was having problems because she had builders in and lent me a key to another toilet block. This looked a lot newer, but as it was further from my tent and there was hot water on the second evening I never went in it. The site has a little snack bar at the bottom by the road and to be honest I could have had breakfast from there for cheaper than I could have made it myself! The site is well located, being only a short walk from Arrochar. I went to the Ben Arthur's Bothy pub in the evenings for a drink. Don't let appearances fool you - it looks quite run down from outside but is actually more like a bar you'd get in a city inside, and has great views over the loch. There is also a general store and a fish and chip shop about 5 minutes walk from the site. The location of the site made it very useful as a base for walking in the area, but I don't think I'd go back there because of the run down facilities.

We have been to this site for three years on the trot, and we wouldn't want to go anywhere else. The owner is very friendly with her lovely dog. The amenities are very basic but that's what you pay for. I hope the prices don't rise to much because it will put people of going. I love the place, the scenery is fantastic, the walks are breathtaking, and the pub grub in Ben Arthurs bothy is fine and cheap. The ale is cold and the view of the loch is amazing. Well done the owners of this site for keeping it basic and I look forward to my next visit

Very friendly, great location, very quiet at night
Lovely scenery, loch long is fantastic.
Camp site run by family, and very good cooks at their little shop. Five minutes walk away from the local shops ,and if by chance you go for a meal I personally would recommend Ben Arthurs Bothie, food was fantastic. At the back of the shops, there is a walkway that can go for miles if you want it to. Breathtaking scenery of ben lomond, and a clear view of loch long from at a height.
Back to the camp site, what a very lovely site this is, and I personally will go back again, even though the weather was very cold in October. I am going back in the July of this year and I hope the weather is warm, if not I will still enjoy the campsite.
