Pro's
Excellent toilet/shower blocks with free hot water and heated towel rails.
Perfectly adequate washing up facilities outside but under cover.
Lots of space to set up where you want with no one on top of you and still plenty of space for the kids to play.
Lovely little lake.
Easy reach of the New Forest and other Dorset attractions with Go Ape/Moors Valley Country Park down the road.
Lovely Pub up the road with great food and a folly opposite if you fancy a nice walk.
Con's
A couple of undesirables on site nicked our cool-box. (I stupidly left it outside the tent in some shade) But to be fair to the warden, he sorted this quickly and asked them to leave.
Hiring of fire pit with wood at £10 a night was far too pricey.
Charged us £1 per freezer block to freeze in a freezer that didn't work properly and never froze the blocks. Total rip off IMVHO!
Overall, would definitely visit again and recommend the site but next time will take our own fire pit and buy a bag of ice-cubes daily.

Owners very helpfully squeezed us in (at short notice) next to friends for the Easter weekend. Very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The pitch size was good and clean and accommodated our bell tent well. The prices were also reasonable for a family of 5. The toilet blocks were outstanding. Very new, kept clean, hot water was plentiful and plenty of loo roll!
The fish and chip van called on the friday night and were delicious and an ice-cream van called daily. There is a pub about half a mile down the road which is walkable (but slightly hair-raising as there are no pavements and the road is pretty bendy!). The food there was very enjoyable and We didn't feel over-priced. You would need a car to stay here to take advantage of Bournemouth, Wimbourne and the New Forest for which it is ideally situated.
My only criticism would be that it probably wasn't the best site for families with children. There is a field where the children can play ball games which we weren't camping in. I think if we had been in that field it would have been a totally different experience for us, but trying to stop the kids playing games next to our pitches (there was a large grassed area between us and the next tent) was hard work! Because cars travel through the centre of the main field kids were discouraged from riding bikes or scooting there. They weren't allowed to climb trees and got told off for climbing on a low wall next to the toilet blocks. Whilst I understand the owners reasons for this, it left us feeling with 6 kids (ages ranging from 2 to 11) that there wasn't a lot for kids to do and we were constantly on at the kids to disappear to the end field to play. We like camping on fairly basic sites without shops, pools and evening entertainment so that the kids have the freedom to run around and make their own fun but this site seemed to discourage that. The site seems much more suitable for caravans and older couples rather than families.
As I say, I can't really fault the site or the owners but would recommend if you camp here with children that you ask for a pitch in the playing field.

Just spent a week at this site. Booked last minute which is quite restrictive for us as we have one huge tent (hence the name) and we wanted hook-up, so all-in-all we couldn't afford to be fussy and didn't expect too much.
The previously-mentioned toilet block opened while we were there. We hadn't had a problem previously as it turned out but obviously going from one shower each for ladies and gents to three each was obviously an improvement along with the extra toilets and washing-up sinks.
All in all this site was great. Uncluttered by unnecessary regulations.
Not many facilities on-site so if it's entertainment you want then this isn't for you.
For anyone worried about the lake it is well out the way and wasn't a problem for us despite having four children (13,10,7,21 months).
Plenty of nice places to go in the area including a nineteenth century folly practically on the doorstep (fascinating). Further afield a steam railway, a castle, an aquarium and plenty of other stuff.
To some up. IF, like us, you just want somewhere to pitch your tent where the pitches are whatever size you need and you have somewhere to shower then this site is great.
If you want entertainment, swimming pool, shop and all the other bells and whistles this isn't for you.

Another very peaceful visit to this lovely site.
Good news is that they are building a new shower block where the gazebo used to be! Looks nearly ready, so worth asking. Barbeque moved to further along the hedge.
They also hire out a camp fire, which gave us a lovely camp fire singsong evening after taking advantage of the friday evening fish and chip van visit.
Love the site.

A nice peaceful site with friendly staff but sadly let down by having to pay to use the shower (I thought this was a thing of the past when you pay a reasonable fee for staying at a campsite.). There was also too few showers for the time of year, coupled with a general need to revamp the toilet block even if just simple as would befit this campsite.
There is an excellent pub just a few hundred yards down the road but the problem is the danger of walking as the road is narrow, bendy, and fairly busy so a very real danger to those on foot.
Sandy, the warden, is a most helpful person, as is his wife who looks after the reception. A real gem who seem to work all hours of the day - and evening!

We have just got back from a weekend at meadow view and had a lovely time. We arrived on friday and were greeted by a very friendly old boy. We were lead to our pitch were our friends were already pitched by a young man who was quite funny. Nothing was any trouble. Although there was only one shower this was not a problem and the toilets were very clean. There was a big lake to walk around but the old boy insisted there was no skinny dipping.
It is a very peaceful and relaxing campsite and we will be returning in the near future.

Nice site, quite spacious pitches, we were in the bottom field by the lake, the middle was kept free for ball games, which meant you only had people either side and lots of room in front, to sunbathe as we did!
Lovely lake, we had a nice little walk around it.
Clean but limited shower and loos (1 shower) we had to wait a lot! outside washing up again had to wait a few times.
Dont normally like to pay for showers but here 20p lasts a long time, my sister and I shared a 20p shower! (the owner told us to put in 40p- but we decided to wait until the 20p had ran out) glad we did as it was long enough for us both!
Nice site would go there again.

We visited this site over the Whitsun bank holiday, the weather was fantastic and we had a lovely weekend. It's a relatively small site, however there is a large field at the bottom end that was used by caravans and tents, and was also used for big family ball games (plenty of room for both).
The location is fairly remote with walking anywhere impossibly dangerous and suicidal, there is a lovely pub less than a minutes drive up the road, they do good food and are very friendly. The nearest shop is about a mile or so away and there are several bigger stores within probably a 5 mile radius.
The wardens were very helpful and friendly too with nothing too much trouble, we were helped with jump starting the car after listening to the radio for too long, they always had 20 pence pieces for the showers and are full of local knowledge.
There is a fish and chip van that visits every Friday night (not that we tried it) and an ice cream van came most evenings causing a stampede in the hot weather.
We took our dog and found the dog walking field at the bottom end of the campsite near the fishing lakes very handy, it's a big field with a path mowed around the edge for easier walking. The fishing seemed to be a popular activity for those that enjoy it.
We only saw the barbecue area being used once, it seemed to attract more children on bikes than anything else.
My one gripe about this site is the lack of toilet facilities - the main block only has one shower and three toilets, and there was always a queue early morning and evening and at busy times it would run out of hot water. Saying that, I discovered at the end of our stay that there was a small one loo / one shower at the top end of the site, no idea how busy this was though.
We would definitely go back to this site and recommend it to anyone.

A very nice clean site. Very helpful owner and warden. Lovely setting close to poole beach and Bournemouth. Would definitely go there again. Very clean toilets and showers. Very well kept grounds. A very peaceful setting just right to relax and recharge your batteries. Thanks to Tim and warden Sandy for making us so welcome. There is a very nice pub not too far from the site and is just right for exploring the Dorset country side.

There is something very special about this place and I cant put my finger on exactly what!. Its certainly not for those who like a large family fun filled spot but its probably a mixture of many things. Were a hard working couple who use the caravan to chill, drink wine, cycle and spend a few hours in a local pub, and we find this place perfect. Its less than an hour from our home but the area itself is very peacful with lovely countryside and cycling that's hard to beat due to the quiet lanes and numerous good pubs. The nearest one is Pricillas which is less than a mile away, but not walkable due to a fast but not busy road at the site entrance which didn't cause us any problem or disturbance as most pitches are far enough away from the road. Toilet Facilities are adequate and clean but not massive. The staff very friendly and helpful. Its in a good central position to discover Bournemouth, salisbury and the purbeck area all of which have thier own charm.
In short I loved the place, Its a simple site which is great for a chill out but has loads within 10 miles if you start getting fidgety. Highly reccomended.
