A great little site, with a superb grassy area for tents next to a stream. A very peaceful gettaway. The purpose built shower block is immaculately clean with a very useful kitchen with fridge, freezer and microwave.

So as with all our reviews the not so good bits.
Well its time to think of some.
Well there isnt much really silly little things more irritating more than bad such as no place to hang wash bag in the shower, and only one shower for the men. In the out of season is fine not sure how it would cope if it was full but we intend to find out.
There is the occasional noise from the road but not much.
Warning: You may well need your levelling blocks or ramps as some pitches definitely require the use of.
Other grip is the cost. Not exactly cheap and so makes for payday weekends only. If your hardened caravanners like us every weekend we couldnt do this place as we just couldnt afford it. There are other sites cheaper with just as good facilities but be assured this is revisitable site for those payday weekends or those more well blessed financially. Is it value for money not sure but it is a good clean site with good facilities, close to local shopping (Welshpool and Newtown) and does make for a good weekend location. For us only once a month I think especially considering it is out of season at this time of year.
However the good bits.
The place is lovely and tidy. Developing bushes and hedges help separate the pitches. The hardstandings are very hardstanding remember your rock pegs ! Some of the grass pitchs are massive (pitch 22) and we mean massive. Crikey get the whole village on them ! and they look well cared for. There are a number of pitchs beside the stream and on a quiet night is nice to hear the trickle of water ! there is sufficent lighting around the site, but is still dark enough if you know what we mean, it is unobtrusive lighting.
There is a separate camping area for those with tents but no EHU on the field which again fits the standard of the caravan pitchs.
The entrance to the site is large and poses no problems for bigger outfits, you stop on route to the pitches to book in with the owners at the barn.
We met the owners briefly and they appear to have they same attitude towards their guests as the campsite appears. Both were pleasant and welcoming and they have certainly made the effort to make the place a 5 star site.
The views from the pitchs are classic welsh views of the mountain ranges and the view at night with a full moon has to be experienced. Trust me bring your camera you wont regret it, it feels like you can touch the stars.
The facilities are spotlessly clean and certainly cleaned daily. The water pressure is excellent in the showers and again my grip push button showers but they are very hot, very pressured and you will come out clean. How they cope on a busy weekend not sure but we intend to find out. The facilities for washing up area included microwave, kettle, fridge and freezer, rack to put your washing up on and a washing up bowl. The owners have put the effort in here for facilities and we as guests should respect that and ensure that we all clean up behind us to ensure that the facilities are ready for the next person. Plenty of bins for recycling items as well.
Overall this is an excellent site. You wont go far wrong here. It is just a tadge too costly for us for most weekends but payday will find us here ! !

We have just returned from a 3 night Bank Holiday stay at this site and we have had a wonderful time. The site has 30 electric hook up pitches and an area at the bottom of the field for campers not requiring EHU. The owners Helen and William are genuine, lovely people and nothing is too much trouble. They are very hands on and are up on the site area several times a day. If you want peace and quiet, then this is the site for you. It has wonderful views and a stream running alongside the camp area. Dogs are allowed. And there were many this weekend due to a Dog show, but they have to be tied up and they were all very well behaved. As previously mentioned, there is one shower and 2 toilets each bathroom and also a disabled bathroom. The site was full over the bank holiday, but we did not have to wait for facilities at all. They were spotlessly clean too. Some of the tourers are pitched permanantly, so there is a real family feel about the place. We met some lovely people this weekend and although you do need a car to get around, everything is very close by. This is only the owners second season, but already they have alot of regular visitors. Rhyd y Groes is by far one of the nicest and friendliest sites that we have found and we will be back again before the year is out.In fact, probably before September is out. 10/10 Faultless.

What a little gem of a site. This is only their second season as they opened last year and the site owners are very friendly and helpful. Marynov has covered a lot of what I was going to say about the surrounding area, but it is also only a half hour drive from Shrewsbury, Newtown or Oswestry so plenty of choice for day trips. The pitches with EHU are spacious, some hard standing and some grass, separated by young shrubs of all sorts of varieties. There is another area without EHUs for tents. Water taps are plentiful and recycling bins are provided. There is a fenced dog walk area where canine companions can stretch their legs without being in danger of getting too close to the sheep in the surrounding fields and there is a small field for children to play ball games etc - it has a couple of goal posts for footie. The campers kitchen is very useful, with microwave, fridge & freezer. Facilities are all spotless. I loved listening to the sound of the brook babbling past my trailer tent.

Lovely peaceful site handy for Welshpool - cinema, pool, shops, takeaways, museum, Offas Dyke, mini steam railway and Powis Castle (NT) to name but a few attractions nearby. Site itself is set in the countryside, easy access off good road, surrounded by woods and fields and a stream (no paddling allowed). 2 toilets, 1 shower in ladies & gents and a great disabled room, all lovely and clean & warm - another shower would make all the difference but it was a busy weekend. Use of campers kitchen is very nice touch - veg preparing area, microwave , kettle, fridge & freezer but only one sink. Shop is 2 miles away with offie and post office and pub 2.5 miles. No kiddies play area but big separate grassed area for football with goalposts. Will def be back!
