We spent the bank holiday weekend here this year. It is about fifteen minutes walk to Cayton Bay (loads nicer than Scarborough).
The owner was very nice and offered a cup of tea on our arrival. The site is very tidy, and the lawn is kept short. She had spaces marked out as she said it was going to be busy as it was BH weekend - 'got to make the money now while I can'.
Indeed. We had a small campervan and even though the C&C website says £12-£15 a night, we were charged £17 and our friends in a caravan £20 a night. Hey ho, cheaper than a lot of places in the area.
The site is meant to be a CL, I could be wrong, but I'm sure that means up to 5 carvan/campers. There was at least 7, maybe more and about 20 tents and they had a handful of tents pitched on their own garden. As such, the facilities were inadequate.
The toilet / shower 'block' is a basic wooden structure with three very cramped toilets. There are three tiny sinks to match and three showers. Which were cold, and I mean freezing . I actually got brain freeze it was that cold. I asked the owner when they would be hot again and she said in the morning as she puts the immersion (?) on in the morning and that two families had used up the hot water earlier in the morning. I pressed home that the showers were baltic and all I got was 'Oh, that's a shame'. Considering there was a good hundred people on site this weekend I thought that was a bit of a lame reply!
I did manage to get a luke warm shower the next day, but our friends had 3 kids and a toddler to wash and they ended up washing them in their washing up bowl each night.
Thats because there is nowhere to wash up. Why a sink couldn't have been stuck onto the side of the hut I don't know. As a result there was people using the tiny handbasins and the drinking water tap to wash up in.
I'm sure it is a lovely place the rest of the year when there are fewer people, but a bit more attention to detail would go down a treat. Instead of garnering points by offering a cup of tea on arrival, perhaps some coat hooks in the shower where people can hang their clothes instead of leaving them on the wet floor, some vinyl mats or something so your feet don't freeze on the cold concrete, toilet roll holders in the toilets and some mirrors.

If you want a genuine no frills camping holiday this is perfect for you. You get a pitch in a field close to the sea. Perfect! The site is on a slight slope. There are a couple of porta loos at the bottom of the field. The owner is lovely and really can't do enough for you. This is a totally relaxing, chilled out site popular with campers, caravanners and motor homes. If you like the tranquillity that comes with having no swimming pool, no bar and no entertainment, then this is where you should stay. There is a great bar at the end of the road though, serving cheap food and has kids and adult rooms. If you need a shower, you can use the ones attached to the Cayton Bay surf shop close by, or pay to use the larger local campsite's facilities. Rebecca (the owner of The Paddock), is looking to add showers soon, which will make this site just perfect for people like us who don't want the fuss of the bigger sites.

Just got back from a great 3 day break here with my wife and 3 young children, the site was very easy to find just off the main road although you couldn't hear the road itself. On arrival the owner greeted us and suggested a couple of different spots where we would be best suited to pitch up, also offered us tea or coffee whilst we pitched up which is a first for us, the site is small and well kept and is on a slight slope but not enough to cause us or any of the other tents/caravans problems. Site had a gate on so we could let kids run about without worries about them getting out. There were 2 portaloos that were kept clean and stocked and a tap separately for clean drinking water. Nice views of the surrounding fields also. The nearby beach at Cayton Bay is lovely and good for surfing and is about a 10-15 minute walk from the site. It's also accessible by car. Local pub is a 2 minute walk from site and is great for kids with an indoor and outdoor play area, food there is nice and reasonably priced. Local spar/garage is opposite the pub. Just next door to the site is a farm shop which is well worth visiting also. Would highly recommend this site to anyone who doesn't mind not having some of the larger more commercial sites amenities such as shower block although there is the 'flower of may' down the road that allows use of theirs for a small fee. Will be visiting again as we and the kids really enjoyed it.

Just back from a brilliant weekend with our caravan at the paddock. Easy access of the main road and convenient for Scarborough, Bridlington or Filey. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
A slightly sloping field, chocks needed in certain places if in a caravan. Fabulous views with lots of walking available and all paths explained to us.
The farm shop was an added bonus with lots of goodies even a hog roast on Sunday which we partook in. We will be returning in September or sooner if possible as this site suited our needs very well with plenty of peace n quiet

Just had a lovely 2 night stay on this site with family - a party of 2 campervans and a tent
The owner was lovely extremely welcoming
The site itself is no frills but clean and peaceful with lovely country views and in a great location for surfing at Cayton bay - a short walk away. Facilities available are simply a toilet and running water
Nearby there are a couple of family friendly pubs, a swimming baths ( at which you could use showers ) a local car boot site and a great farm shop / cafe, the beautiful Cayton bay and the Cleveland way coastal path to name a few
A gem of a find if you want a get away from it all break and somewhere we'll definitely be returning to hopefully soon

Prior to our visit my husband spoke with the owner of this site and stated how lovely she was on the telephone, sadly we were not greeted to the same hospitality. On arrival the site was tiny, It states it is an acre however the Paddock itself is smaller than a football pitch. We expected just a port a loo as described but these had not yet been delivered. We were greeted by two caravan couples who were cross as they had no hook up. We set up in the far corner as requested to do so over the phone. We were told our price included hook up. The electricity was provided by internal extension leads covered with black sacks, all tents and caravans appeared to be fed off one 4 gang extension lead. We were told we could have an extension lead if we moved the whole tent (after we had finished putting it up) and was then told we had not been charged for hook up. As a party of four we were told we would be set up together this was not the case as tents separated the group. We were told there was a gate on the site as we had young children with us, when asked about this Rebecca stated they should be one and that was the end of that. We were asked to move our car as some cars had damaged the grass, even my friend with a mobility disability was asked to move hers this was to make room for more campers in my opinion. The pitches on the second night was over crowded and appeared to exceed the amount stated on the website. I have never been camping and asked to remove my car, we had made no damage to the grass and some people had moved their cars and surrounded the lovely older couples caravan at the bottom of the hill. The site is not on a slope it's on a hill, every caravan that arrived was asked to drive up the hill yet nobody could get up there with a caravan which was why all the grass was damaged. My husband and I are not people who complain but we will never return to this site. We enjoyed our holiday as we had paid to take our children away however got the impression as long as you had paid the owner wasn't interested. We have paid less else where with much better facilities and people who actually care. The owner appeared to make no effort to solve anyones problems and on the last night the electric cut out for our friends and those with electric and she failed to answer the door. I was fully aware the facilities were limited as this was stated. I feel strongly that I pass this information on as I appreciate this may be some peoples only holiday and what a disappointment. The farm shop next door was lovely and there was local facilities that suited us and our family.

We drove up to the coast from Nottingham without having booked somewhere to stay, thinking that we would have no problem finding somewhere as it was half term. We were wrong! However the owner saved us and despite not having her campsite in use at the time she allowed us to stay on her front garden! Dog and all! She was so welcoming with cups of tea and made us feel very comfortable! Hope to go back when campsite is in full use, thank you
As the situation was I can't make an evaluation on the facilities therefore have rated neutral but overall and under the circumstances I was impressed!

NOT happy. Firstly, due to the recent weather we were unable to get on the small field (no 4x4) which despite being told the contrary, was sloping and very soft.
An invitation to use her (small) front garden instead was totally inappropriate with a 7m 'van and a narrow entrance- nearly got stuck. No other choice than to pitch up on verge outside house. Had to use owners house for electric - the fact it was disconnected at one point only added to the nightmare. The offer to use the owners toilet in her house (none on site) was bizarre, but necessary - who wants to go in someone's house !? The owner was pleasant, however naive to the needs of a 'van owner, she really is not a 'caravanner' and I feel should not be offering pitches under these circumstances. We did get a partial refund, however will not be returning.

On arrival we were welcomed by the site owner Rebecca offering tea/coffee and cake while we set up. As we hadn't booked we weren't given a choice of pitch due to others per-booking, we were happy with our given pitch. The facilities were water tap for drinking and 2 toilets which was clean. Bins on site. Information on this web site says cafe etc on site however it is next door or down the road but was all walking distance. The owner had mentioned putting in a shower and toilet block for next year which would be better. We only stayed for 2 nights so didn't need a shower but others on the site used other local sites or swimming pools facilities. The site is centre to Scarborough and Filey ideal for long coastal walks or a short drive. Just 15 mins walk to Cayton bay. The main road is close however we couldn't hear cars. The site was ideal for us as it was small and quiet however it did get busy the 2nd night but not too busy to upset our stay. We didn't have a time to be off by which offered us a relaxed pack up. Owner was very helpful and offered a mobile number if not around but wasn't required. Overall our stay was great and we would recommend to others.

Stayed for the august bank holiday weekend, last minute booking. The owner managed to kindly squeeze us in but with plenty of room around us for privacy. The owner was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us to make us feel welcome. Although there are no shower facilities there is a pool at the mayflower camp site open to non residents with communal showers. There are port a loos on site which are always full stocked. Location is great for scarborough and whitby.
Would definitely return again.
