The best site on Barra, fantastic walking from site and Angus cannot do enough for you. The views are absolutely fantastic and the beach is only a minutes walk away. The new Wind Turbine Road makes fishing more accesable. 2 toilets and showers like your own bathroom, plus kitchen and also new for this year electric hook up. Been staying here since opened and will be back!

As others have said this is an amazing site, with the kindest owner you could ever hope to meet. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here and had almost constant entertainment from the seals singing on a nearby island.
We visited because of the reviews and were not disappointed. Great walks from the site if you are inclined, either on the empty roads or more rugged hills and/or beaches, including one, where if your timing is good, you can watch the planes take off. Don't expect to shop locally but you can stock up in Castlebay.

Probably the best site there is! Seriously, this site is lovely. The location is spectacular, set close to a large white sandy beach. We stayed a week, were spoilt with glorious weather all week, but the site itself is ideal. Free hot showers, always clean and well maintained, a kitchen providing two sinks with ample hot water, a kettle, toaster and microwave, seating and table - particularly useful for those travelling light.
Although site is sloping, Angus John, the lovely owner, provided blocks for those without their own.
The airport café not far from site, serves excellent food - delicious seafood and super sized homemade cakes. Watching the plane land from the café is a real treat.
If you want a well maintained site, where you're free to choose where to pitch, with good facilities, in a beautiful location and at very reasonable price indeed, then this is the site for you.
Will definitely return.

We spent 4 glorious days on this site doing a Hop of the Islands. It is £5 per person and £4 for electric, and worth every penny, the toilet and shower facilities are excellent, a bathroom to yourself, the site is on a slope so levellers are needed, but no marked out pitches, find your own spot. As previously stated the beach is just a short walk from the site. The owner is a very unassuming person, and loves to call on an evening to meet and greet all on the site. It is only a short drive to Castlebay if shopping is needed. If you want to chill out of modern day hustle and bustle and going to Barra, this is the site to stay on.

Stayed here for 2 nights during a Calmac Hopscotch tour. Was met by the owner when I arrived off the ferry and he immediately pointed us in the direction of what he considered the best pitch for a tent on his site. He was not wrong! :))
Wonderful views over the sea and beaches and no-one else close by so complete privacy.
Large and tidy site, toilets and showers immaculate. Well worth the £4 per person per night charge.
50 yards walk to beach from entrance gate and well situated for exploring the island. Well stocked co-op in Castlebay and only 20 mins here from ferry.
Cant wait to visit again.

Easily the best site on Barra, a large field with lots of room. The showers and toilets are immaculate. The beach is a 2 minute walk away and perfectly safe with beautiful white sand and coral seas.
The site overlooks Eriskey and South Uist and is only a few minutes drive from the famous Barra airport - watch the planes land and take off from the beach.
Corncrakes and Skylarks are in abundance and if you are lucky you may see Golden Eagles, White tailed Sea Eagles and Otters.
The site owner - Angus John Morrison is the most kind and helpful person you could ever hope to meet.
We have been to the site for the last 4 years and stayed 4 - 5 weeks, absolute bliss. We will be back again next year - can't wait.

Spent one night here and Angus John could not have been more helpful, stunning location with easy access to beach. Next year he should have all his facilities up and running, which even this year were not bad, showers and toilets spotless.
I reckon this site could be very busy next year and is very convenient for the ferry to Eriskay.
Charged us £5 each per night for a medium/large tent, bargain.
Recommend this site will return next year.

Stayed here last 3 years and improvements ongoing. Best camp-site on Barra, quiet and peaceful and very dog friendly. Views to die for and fabulous sunsets. Also a chance to see elusive Corncrakes if patient. Angus John very friendly and laid back, well worth a visit. Not very far to chemical disposal point. Also Cafe at Airport 10 min drive, and Castlebay not too far away with Co-op and other small shops. Also good walking from site.

This campsite overlooks the sea, with uninterrupted views looking towards South Uist and Eriskay. It is a large field, with the facilities in a house at the top of the field. When we were there the facilities were a shower room with WC and a washroom with WC. Angus, the owner, was planning to install another shower and another, separate, WC. He is also planning on installing some electric hook-ups for next year.
The facilities were pretty good, although, as there were quite a few campers on site, there was a bit of a queue to use the facilities in the morning. There is great walking from the site, over the hills and onto the beaches and to the airport.
It is a lovely spot and my only negative comment would be that there was no prohibition on the use of a generator. These are always noisy and could potentially ruin a stay in an otherwise very peaceful place. Hopefully, when hook-ups are available next year, Angus will not allow the use of generators.

Lovely campsite a few metres from the beach, unspoilt beautiful surroundings, about 10 minutes drive from the Airport and about 20-25 minutes from Castlebay.
The toilets and the shower are clean, plenty of hot water, probably the best shower I had during our camping trip in the Hebrides. The site is big enough that even when it operates on full it doesn't get crowded.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming, to his suggestion we went back to the airport by sunset and climbed up the sand dunes opposite to the building arriving to a stunning beach with one of the most amazing sunsets. I hope we will have the chance to go back there.
