This has got to be close to my perfect camp site - spectacular location in rural setting just above Abersoch, with amazing sea views. It isn't cheap but there is a strict limit on pitches and occupancy, so you're not camped on top of somebody else. The pitches are well marked out. The washblocks and showers are perfectly adequate, although due to be redeveloped in the near future. Very friendly owners and all the facilities you can think of, including secure access, freezers, local produce, excellent tourist information. I visited with my brother, but this is an ideal site for families and we will be back soon. PS midgies bad at dusk so take some repellent - we found that Jungle Formula was very effective.

Our first trip in our van, so we wanted a good experience, which is exactly what we got!. Very nice owners, friendly and helpful. Site was clean, nice quiet pitches with a wonderful view from the top field.
We were very pleased that we stayed here and will definitely go back soon.
We preferred the pub at the bottom of the hill to the ship though, went in a nobody served us for 5 mins so we walked out?

Lovely site with great views. Owners are friendly and can give lots of tips on local walking. We went in the Easter Holidays and had a field to ourselves (although it was apparently full the previous Bank Holiday weekend). Facilities ok. Site has a hut with lots of local tourist information. Takes longer than you might think to get to the beaches around the peninsula and the tiny roads must be a nightmare in the summer. But very easy to get to Caernarfon and to Llanberis (for Snowdon).

I Can only add to all the very good reviews.

That this Is one of the best campsites we have visited. The owners were always striving to achieve a very high standard. This is a lovely site with beautiful panoramic views which are stunning on clear days. The campsite pitches are very spacious and the grass is well lawned. All facilities on site are very clean and tidy. Miles and Anna make you feel very welcome. And are attentive to everybody's needs. It Is a tranquil area with lots of nice walks and beautiful beach's. A gem of a site. And I would highly recommend it.

We arrived at this site on one of the most seriously windy days of June. We had a friendly greeting from the campsite owners and the offer of assistance to put up our tent was very gratefully accepted! Miles, the owner was a star and almost single handedly put up our 6 berth tunnel tent, even giving us a spare pole for our broken one! The wind was the damaging kind but fortunately our tent stayed intact (I think mostly due to the good shelter provided by the hedging around the tent fields). The site is very high up and takes some strong winds.

The site is very clean, tidy and well kept. Spacious level pitches, gravel paths (no mud and well drained). No hook ups for tents (but who needs it anyway?) There is a card operated barrier that adds to the general air of security. The showers and toilets are NOT basic but are warm and comfortable. There is plenty of mirrors and a hairdrier. Showers and hairdrier cost 20p (I managed to shower and dry my hair for 40p). I read on a previous review about the sinks being too small but personally I didn't find this an issue. There are paper towel and soap dispensers.

The site takes dogs without charge and there are no restrictions except the obvious about tethering, leads and cleaning up etc. (This was a big bonus for us as we have four!) There is a good dog exercise field and bin for bags etc.

There is a cozy little washing up house that has two sinks and a freezer. Hot water for washing up costs 20p. There is also a summerhouse with a tv, and more fridges and freezer. These are really handy and we used the fridge and freezer daily, there is no extra charge. The summerhouse has plenty of printed local information and Anna has compiled a good folder of restaurants, menus, telephone numbers of take aways, local beaches, emergency numbers etc. There is also an abundance of the usual printed info of local attractions. Anna and Miles live on site, are always available and are happy to help out with advice on travel routes, places to go etc. Miles and Anna have obviously put a lot of thought and care into developing this site and a lot of effort into anticipating needs.

The site has clear rules about noise etc. And for us, who wanted nothing more than peace and quiet and to go to bed early after a long day, this was ideal. We were never disturbed and heard nothing other than the sound of the sheep in the next fields (Oh, and the rain and the wind on the tent!)

The site is not within walking distance to any beaches, but is a short drive (5 mins to closest, 10 to Abersoch). There is not really any immediate walks around the site without taking to the roads, which is not really safe with a few dogs or children as the roads are narrow, it's better to use the car and then walk. Nice beaches, mostly dog friendly but don't do as we did and drive all the way to Whistling Sands to find there is absolutely no dogs (very snooty Nat Trust car park attendant).

The site is on a hill so has lovely views on a clear day, but gets very misty and seems to get lost in the clouds on an 'iffy' day. Sometimes it can seem bad weather whilst on site but be quite clear at the bottom of the hill!

All in all, very nice.

Stunning location with fantastic views out over the sea and to the mountains. Anna and Miles couldn’t be more convivial hosts and the location of the site coupled with the quiet relaxed atmosphere makes for an ideal “get away from it all” kind of a place for a holiday or short break.
The facilities are well appointed, exceptionally clean and well maintained. The pitches are level and spacious. There is a local shop within five minutes walk which is well stocked and Abersoch is less than ten minutes down the road (in the car).
Yr Helyg is ideally placed to explore the local area and its locations and, yes, the beaches really are as good as they look in the photos on the web site!
The only disappointment was that we had to come home, but we’ll definitely be back. Thoroughly recommended.

We booked this site as a last minute panic and was a little unsure of what to expect (had exhausted all other options). Any doubts that we had were removed within an hour of setting up camp. The site is beautifully maintained, the staff are most welcoming and facilities spotless.
There is a small charge of 20p for the showers but nothing to complain about (40p is more than enough) and never had to queue - certainly a lot cheaper and cleaner than previous experiences.
We had possibly the best pitch on the site and woke up to breathtaking views each morning. We enjoyed the experience so much that we are currently booking our next holiday and will always check availability at The Willows before any other site in the area.
If you are looking at camping in the area you will not be disappointed.

This was our fist real camping expedition and a high standard was set! We booked for the Bank Holiday and stayed for two nights, with our early departure down to the wet weather and a leaky tent! The booking was based on their website only, and we were not disappointed.
The camp site was extremely well planned out, each plot extremely spacious, all the facilities were well equipped, clean, tidy, and in working order, and the owners were very friendly and welcoming. The site was very secure and we had no concerns about leaving our gear while we went exploring, largely due to the family and couple atmosphere.
The view from the site is breathtaking over Abersoch and the surrounding area and there was enough amenities to be more than comfortable without losing the 'roughing it' aspect that is part of the whole camping experience. We are already in discussions with siblings to go again with the nieces and nephews next time - and a sturdier tent! - Highly recommended.

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay here at The Willows. This is one of the more expensive sites near Abersoch. The site is very well kept, clean & is very tranquil and quiet, but in close proximity to Abersoch (about 5 mins by car).

Facilities are portacabin style and 20ps are needed to heat water for washing up / showers, so we used our caravan facilities. There is a playing field of about 1 and half acres in area where children can play ball games / cycle etc., but N.B. This is not within sight of the touring field. This was an issue for us as our children are young and need watching.

I am pleased to see the owners have updated their website to make this very clear. The owners were very helpful and made us feel very welcome.

The area has many good pubs. We visited The Ship just down the road and had excellent meals here & a takeaway from The Coconut Kitchen Thai restaurant in Abersoch which was very nice. Abersoch has many eateries eg. Italian / Indian / Mexican. Beaches are plentiful. N.B. Part of Abersoch main beach doesn't admit dogs, but dogs are allowed on Abersoch, on the Golf Club side. We will be returning to Abersoch in August. If we can get booked in anywhere!

What can I say, but what a wonderful welcoming experience. We arrived for one night on a Bank Holiday weekend not really knowing what to expect. We found the site extremely well planned out (although the loose stones made it a little difficult for our motorcycles and noisy at night when walking to the toilet block), but the owners were so friendly and welcoming. It was also nice that they came around the following morning to say hello to everyone and have a friendly chat.
We only stayed for one night on this occasion, but are sure to be going back in the near future to enjoy a little longer. The facilities were clean and well equipped - just ensure you have some change for hot water. It was a lovely family site, which we as a family hope to return to again soon.
