The site is very spacious and in spite of the road nearby it was very peaceful.
The long grass adjacent to the pitches holds many insects and thus attracted swallows and house martins to fly around.
Different small birds visited the bird feeding station, including a Greater Spotted Woodpecker.
Three mallards spent mornings and evenings beside the pond and one morning a kestrel was around.
A walk around the site takes in patches cut in the long grass for tents or vans without electric, it is all very neat and tidy and the couple running the site were very friendly and helpful!
Although too far to walk into Thornton le dale ( we are in our 80's) the drive isn't far and the car park in T le D is a large one!No real facilities on site but good recycling emptying toilet etc!
A lovely camp site!

Loved the peace and quiet, views of the countryside, little bubbling stream, nature spotting (hares, owls, kestrels, swallows, hedgehogs etc!).
Everything else was great, only downside was the walk to the village. Yes its a 15 minute walk, 25 minutes to the village centre really, but you have to walk along a national speed limit road with no pedestrian footpath, and the traffic can roar past you at speed!
There is a raised grassy bank but its very uneven and difficult to walk on with a stream directly to your left! Best to go by car!

This is a back to basics campsite with 2 toilets, single toilet and sink, plus a single toilet, no showers.
The pitches are large and a long way from your neighbours pitch (a good 2o metres).
The campsite is situated on the outskirts of Thornton Le Dale, voted the most picturesque village in Yorkshire.
This is a great site, adult only, and is very quiet on a night except for the hooting of owls.
At £15. 00 per night for a non electric pitch for 2 adults in a tent it's great value and is highly situated for Malton, Pickering, Scarborough and Whitby.
This was my first visit but will not be my last, I loved it.

A traditional straightforward campsite with plenty of space.
The facilities are basic but scrupulously clean and perfectly adequate for a few nights.
The owners were helpful and friendly. They recommended a local pizzeria takeaway which delivered to the site!
Excellent value for money and we will definitely visit again.

Easy to find just along the road from the beautiful village of thornton le dale
Lovely friendly couple who are running the site very helpful as this was our first outing in our recently purchased motorhome.
The site is still being upgraded which when finished will I think be an excellent site
We look forward to our next trip to this site
