We've stayed here several times in the past. The views over Loch Lomond, to Ben Lomond, are superb. But we probably won't come back. The price has gone up significantly.

The motorhome pitches have been moved to the very back of the site - you still get a good view but not as good as in the past.

There aren't enough shower or toilet cubicles for the number of people staying here.

If I was a local, though, I'd be very tempted to purchase or rent one of their lovely static units.

PS the little shop is nice and the staff are polite and friendly.

Nice site, but not as good as it used to be. !

Its beautifully situated on the banks of Loch Lomond, and ideal for watersports as it has its own slipway and easy access for launching boats (although we didn't).

We visited this site several times with our touring caravan in 2007, 2011 and 2012 and loved the way the touring pitches were at the front of the site, fairly close to the waters edge, whilst the cabins and static 'vans were all further along or behind the touring pitches, thus giving us an unobstructed view of the loch from the caravan.

However the site has grown since our last visit, more cabins have been built on the prime spots where the touring pitches used to be, and now the touring pitches are at the back of the site, further away from the Loch. The site is quite steeply sloped (pitches are level though!) and so being further back also means you are higher up, so you do still have a view of the loch, although it is a bit further away and is now viewed through trees.

Facilities are good - the touring pitches (there's only about 12 now, the site is mainly cabins and static 'vans) are all fully serviced, and the toilet block is very clean and modern although small - only 1 shower each for male and female. The reception area has a decent shop, and also a public lounge area with TV (TV reception on the pitches is non-existent probably due to the geography of the area).

So, a good site and worth visiting, but we liked it better the way it used to be. !

We stayed here on a Saturday night on our way up to the North of Scotland. We arrived late (21:30) and had informed the owners that that would be the case and were greeted with a friendly welcome and a smile.

Travelling in a camper van we had requested a pitch with electric hookup and that was fine. The toilet block was new and very clean and smart.

In the morning we walked our dog along the Loch before heading off.

This place was ideal for what we needed and the owners are obviously spending a lot of time and money in improving the site. We would definitely stay here again!

We decided on this 'holiday park' final night & stop off point to our recent yearly anniversary roadtrip, we wish we hadnt.

£25 for a small fully serviced pitch is a tad expensive, but given that most of the services were missing, damaged, disgusting and dangerous things need addressing !

All service pitch posts had components missing, this in itself didn't spoil our stay but when being charged for such feel a bit cheated.

OK, onto the major points :

1. Only 1 working pot washing area and even this only had COLD water, dirty and disgusting to be expected to clean dishes or prepare food in only cold water, to carry a kettle up the gravel bank is dangerous and unacceptable, especially given the fact that the pot washing area lighting was broken so having to do any task in the pitch black of night was again not unacceptable.

2. There was no lighting outside to toilet/shower cabin, coming out of the bright lights of the cabin into the dark was again dangerous, my wife took a tumble down the decking stairway.

3. The dog walk area was through what can only be described as a scrap yard of trailers, unlit and very dark. There is a boat storage yard so why these trailers are not stored in there is beyond me?

4. Chem toilet disposal area, dirty and disgusting, old toilet paper remnants and stale excrement peppered across the place and no way of swilling your waste down. There was news papers in there from 1990's, the main disposal hole had no safety or cover on, considering this is right next to a childs play and made to look like a little shelter, dangerous to a child looking for adventure.

Great location by the side of the loch, amazing view, but certainly a lot of room for improvement.

Lots of the facilities and walking areas are certainly not disabled friendly.

Certainly would never return, place seemed more interested in the hire homes/statics/cabins.

My wife and I stayed here as part of a 2 week break in Scotland. We were really looking forward to our stay at this site on the banks of Loch Lomond. We ended up being very disappointed, as we had taken a our bikes and looking on their website this looked like the perfect place for cycling, however when we got to the site we discovered that unless you are a very experienced cyclist you would not cycle straight from the site (very busy narrow national speed road) The nearest place to cycle safely is 3. 5 miles away.

As mentioned in previous reviews the pot wash on had 1 sink working and no hot water, when I raised this with reception I was told 'they were getting a new pot wash', this was not going to happen during our stay and no resolution or refund was offered. The pitches are very small we have a motorhome and awning and that left no room on the pitch for anything else, there is also a charge for the awning, which I object to on a hardstanding pitch as this is the space I hire for my stay. Over all the views across the Loch were lovely and the facilities were OK but at £26 per night I feel this is very over priced and would not stay here again. There are better sites in the local area.

Please remember if you do go to this site you need to take plenty of cash, as it is remote and there are no really local (less than 15 miles) cash points. The nearest one in the post office in Arrochar does not work most of the time.

In summary this is too expensive and the pitches are too small.

This is a very convenient place to spend a night when driving further north in Scotland. We stayed here last year and came again this year. The staff (very friendly) seem to have changed, and the reception/shop area has been upgraded and refurbished. The showers and toilets are fine, and although accessed with a code, this was not a problem as (unlike previous reviews had reported) there was light on the keypad during the night. However the light in the hall and in the loos, once you had entered, had been switched off and was hard to find at night. (Automatic sensors necessary!). The views across the loch are superb, although it's not possible to walk anywhere off site.

However it is very expensive (comparatively), and of the two washing up sinks one had no water at all, and one had only cold water, no hot. We had to bring a kettle of boiling water to the sink from our motorhome. The staff when this was pointed out to them offered no help or suggestions, did not arrange repair, and offered no compensation.

Near our pitch, one of the static lodges had a hen party, and a hot tub on their front verandah. The hens kept us awake (and we assume, many others) until they ran out of steam at 3am. Nobody from the site management can have thought to ask them to quieten down.

Lastly, it was intrusive and unnecessary for the cleaners to clean the showers and loos at 9am.

We'll find another stopover next time.

Was very disappointed with this site. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights. Yes the views are lovely of the loch. However the pitches are very small and all hardstsnding there is just enough room to get a small awning next to motorhome but no where to sit outside. It felt like you were on a street front no privacy from people walking by. There was no hot water in the pot washing area and like previous review no solution or refund was offered when mentioned. At £26 a night we felt this rather expensive given the points mentioned. We took bikes but could not use them from the site as the road is too unsafe. Very little to do if like us you like to leave the motorhome on the pitch. Would definitely not return.

Stay for 3 nights at Loch Lomond Holiday Park. The price of £25 per night is above average for off peak. The pitches where the touring caravans are placed are a bit awkward for reversing your van on to the pitch, the road is not wide enough and has a steep drop should you not get it right you would damage your vehicle. This is not just our view other caravanners had the same problem and spoke about the issue! The shower/toilets were good. The scenery is fantastic. Would not stay here again only because of manoeuvring issue! Motor homes and campers would be fine they pitch in a different place!

Pulled on to this site and left in half hour, cost £23 to park up as no refund. We have an old dog that I mentioned when booking in and then we find we are on the pitch furthest away fro the dog walk, even though there was only one other tourer on site. Also the pitch wasn't long enough for our motorhome.

You can not get a TV signal without a sky dish as there is no digital signal coverage for this area.

They stress dogs on leads at all times, yet one of the people out of a static walked her dog all around the site with no lead on it.

Rest of the site was ok, but expensive site that you are paying for the views.

Also has a very nasty gateway in and out as its right on a bad bend on a steep hill.

The Park was in a dream setting, right by the Loch.

It has a clubhouse and a shop managed by staff who were friendly.

The site was split into three separate areas comprising statics, lodges and touring pitches. Only the front pitches had views of the loch, the back ones being screened by a hedge.

If you wanted a pitch with a view, you had to pay an extra £3, which brought the price up to £25 per night, making this the most expensive site out of eight that we had visited in three weeks.

The pitch had electric hook-up, however the TV cable had no connection. On enquiring about this, we were told that it wasn’t worth (the money) to upgrade from Analogue to Digital so the TV connections had been removed, but DVDs were available for sale instead!

The toilets and showers were in the clubhouse which was accessed with a pin number. These badly needed updating as the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, there was no loo paper in one cubicle and the hand drier was blowing cold air.

There was a lot of rubbish on our pitch and around the site generally. The security lighting at night was poor and, without a torch, the pathway could be hazardous due to tubs and steps on the route to the clubhouse. The entry code could not be read without a torch.

We were very disappointed in this site. With careful planning and TLC there’s the opportunity to transform it into a top UK site. Perhaps then, the high prices would be justified.
