Site is quite big but pitches are not even. We didn't realise that travellers were on site, some looked seasonal.
Toilets and showers are a bit dated but were spotless and pleanty of hot water. Only problem was the push button for water in shower I had to press it about 5 times to get my hair wet, really should adjust the timing of the water.
Only ten minutes walk into the town, Tesco and Aldi next to each other.
We had a meal in the Thia restaurant and the food was excellent you should give it a try.
We would not return to this site as its not for us.

Spacious site close to the beach,
All pitches with hookups. Mostly grass, but sandy soil so firm underneath. Pitches are fairly spacious.
Friendly welcome from the staff.
Facilities aren't new but we'll kept and very clean, showers have a decent blast of hot water.
Easy walk to beach and town and access to NCN1 cycle route.
Cost us £31 a night for 2 and a MH

Can’t fault this excellent, well run site.
Nice spacious park, with good security and a very nice central, large, well maintained facilities block.
Close to the beach and 10 minute walk to Montrose Town Centre.
Very commendable that the local Town Council provides this caravan park - such a pity that other councils don’t do likewise.

Grandparents taking 6 year old and 3 year old grandkids away for a weekend.
Site is well maintained, a bit dated in places but still very clean and functional. When you book online you can actually choose which pitch you want (dependant on availability), never seen that before but it is a brilliant idea and should be more common. Prices are about average with no hidden surprises.
Pitch was massive so kids had plenty of room to play. Onsite playpark wasn't huge but more than sufficient in conjunction with the amount of space around.
Didn't interact much with staff other than booking in but when we did they were pleasant, friendly and helpful.
Outside the park is great for kids with a beach to one side, a very large open grass area across the road (looks like an old golf course) and a brilliant play/activity area with attached "splash" water area 5 minutes walk away. Town is only a couple minutes drive away and has pretty much everything you would need.
Altogether a great visit that will be being repeated in the very near future.

Stayed for 4 nights. It's lovely site - clean, tidy, quiet and the two wardens couldn't have been more helpful.
Tent pitches are nicely situated but the park is geared up more for those who can use the electric hook-ups. For the many tents which don't have electricity a fridge would be a welcome addition.

First time there and I was loving every bit of it. The place is beautiful and I loved the beach every day. I walked the dog along the beach and the water play parks great for kids and the sand dunes and the golf Course. The most loving thing was to be able to sit in your car and look onto the ocean. Only down fall too much noise from people in other tents from the back of 2 in the morning, but just 1 bad thing and a lot of good things.

Didn't have the wow factor when we first arrived. Was put off by the chemical factory on the campsite perimeter and the half finished look of the refurbishment. However, after 4 days there we were sold by the brilliant location next to the beach and the sites proximity to the beautiful town of Montrose. We were there during the Mofest and everyone was friendly and the place is so welcoming. So just don't be put off by first impressions!

Arrived at site but nobody in the office, was in the process of calling the number on the door when an off duty warden turned up (sorry have forgotten your name)and booked us in. The council who have now take over the site and forgot to get somebody to cover the Friday. Not to worry proceeded to our grass pitch in front of the toilet block and set up.
The site itself is in a good location, do not be put off by the back drop of the GlaxoSmithKline factory. There is short walk to beach via an exit gate from the site. Out the main gate a short walk to the sports centre whith its swimming pool etc. A bit further on is the town of Montrose itself with all the usual shops and pubs.
The heated toilet block is kept spotless. It could do with a bit of modernisation but it works and has plenty of hot water.
The granddaughter loved seeing all the rabbits but I think there are too many now and something has to be done to keep there numbers down.
I would hope the local council realise they have a brilliant asset on their door step and spend a little money on upgrading this site.
At the moment there is no children's play park but there is enough room for them to run around.
Will definitely be back.

South Links Caravan Park Montrose
Has re opened and is being run by Angus District Council.
Prices per night 2016/2017:-
Touring Caravan / Motorhome grass or hard standing -pitch rental incl electricity £25. 00 includes awning and dog(s)
Back packer for 1 no car £9. 50
2 -man tent no elect £11. 50,
Large tent no elect £16. 00,
Large tent with elect £18. 00
Camping pod £25 per night
Just back from a 3 night stay in our touring van with awning, on a grass pitch. Site was fully booked for a music festival but there was always showers available ( closed for cleaning 11am - noon. Toilets block and facilities were clean and modern. There is no designated children's play area at the moment but there is a super play park close by Seaside Splash suitable for disabled access with parking, and 2 cafes.
There is wonderful golden sandy beach stretching for miles which can be accessed by steps or further along there is a wooden walkway which was unfortunately damaged so access using a wheel chair or baby buggy would be difficult - until repaired.
Golf links opposite Caravan site, Swimming Pool in sports centre. Tesco and lots of other shops and restaurants. Some of the static pitches are empty so the park wasn't looking its best in May but think it will quickly become popular again due to its position in Montrose. Hubby and I loved it so we are taking grand children during school holidays. If you are a wheelchair user I would suggest you telephone warden before booking as the main toilet block has a keypad entry system which may be out of reach, although it had a disabled toilet sign. There are other blocks which seemed to have a lock and key entry however I do not think they were being used but it is worth checking before hand.
The pods are on a grass sloping in a wooden fenced area not sure if they have electricity. I suggest you take camping chairs as there is only one picnic table although there are a few others near by. Wardens were friendly.

The main thing about this review is to inform people that the site is open and has been taken over by the local council. This was a walk round visit while we where in the area. £25 a night, this includes electric and awning. We intend to book for the end of June. Nice grass pitches, site also has big hard standing. There is statics on the site with the tourers in the middle. Toilet block nice and clean. Nice friendly chat with the couple in the office. Bags of open area for kids to roam about.
