This was a great site for location, facilities were basic but clean and working, and the ground was pretty flat.

Location:

It took about 2 minutes to walk to the beach, either back out and down the beach road, or through the one gate in the campsite through the dunes. I discovered the joy of walking the dog on the beach while it's deserted. So nice!

Although the beach is soft sand and vast, there was not many little treasures washed up to wander along and spot. I missed that. Don't know if was time of year, or just direction the tides come in. I'm used to other beaches in that region having lots of interesting pebbles, creatures, driftwood etc on.

Drive on beach:

Also unlike other beaches in that area, this beach get extremely busy on warm sunny days! With cars, camper vans, vans, trucks, and shiny cars, jet skis some of which parade up and down. We had to avoid a motor cross bike on one walk which kept driving up and down the crowded beach near the sea. There was a great vibe that weekend, but our autistic daughter struggled with the crowd so we went to the beach that weekend before and after the beach gates opened and shut.

Campsite:

I've already said about the campsite above, but do make sure to bring some really strong and long tent pegs for sandy soil. Our pitch backed on to the dunes which we loved, but that made the grass we were on a bit patchy because the soil was so sandy. When the wind got up I had to keep going round the tent to re do the pegs as they'd pulled out. We used the usual sort of V shaped pegs. Our 4 corner pegs worked fine, they are thick pin like pegs with an eye at the tip, about 12 inches long.

Site owners seemed nice, they had fire pits to hire for £10 per stay, and they sold fuel.

We really enjoyed our stay and will be going back.

When rating this site in stars, it only lost points because although the facilities are clean and functional, there would probably be queuing when busy.

For child friendliness, there was no playground, or lowered sinks. I struggled sometimes with the keypads on the toilet door, I imagine kids would too.

It turned out that this was our second stay here - we had been before 10 years ago!

Easy booking (though not really needed off season, it was very quiet), and a very friendly informative welcome.

Very clean facilities, a little cramped and we wondered how they would cope when it was really busy, but excellent for our stay.

Only annoyance was the need to keep one hand on the shower push button all the time.

We would come back again off season as a lovely location

Beautiful site, basic amenities, but that is just what we wanted.

Very quiet and clean, beach and shopping close by.

Staff at site were very efficient. No noise tolerated!

Keep your eye on the weather!

We were both pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the facilities and the closeness to the beach.

Quiet and peaceful site,

We would return again.

Glan y Mor is all I could wish for in a camp site personally. It was quiet ( midweek, I gather it’s jammed at weekends and school holidays) right by a dog friendly beach and brought back childhood memories of staying there.

I didn’t use any of the facilities as I had my own.

The only difficulty was in booking as they had a problem with their voice mail but I’m sure that will have been fixed now.

 An absolutely stunning, unspoilt location.

The facilities were in very good condition and because we were there during off peak time there was no problem with availability even though only two out of six toilets were open due to COVID restrictions and only one person at a time could use the dish washing area.

However, this would become a problem when the site is full.

Very good site will go again,

Very helpful regarding the use of shower block/toilets as we didn't have facilities in our camper van under the present circumstances.

We love this place we stay here a few times every year, so close to the beach which is absolutely stunning.

The town of Porthmadoc is a lovely little place, it was sad we couldn’t visit our favourite little pub ( The Australian) due to COVID-19.

If your eating outside watch out for the seagulls🤣

This is our second visit and will confirm it as good as our first.

Facilities are spotless, pitches superb with exceptionally friendly and very amenable hosts - Julie and Peter take a bow.

The location is just 20 yards from one of North Wales prime beaches Black Rock and is just amazing.

Thanks guys we will be back soon Neil and Trudi

This site is beautiful, it backs right onto the sand dunes onto the beach! The side of the beach this site is on is dog friendly so ideal if you have dogs. The site was very quiet and spotless, wardens are very friendly and helpful. The shower changing room is communal, although showers are free, you have to keep pressing the button as water only lasts a few seconds. Their sister site is only a 5 - 10 minute walk away and they have a small bar with entertainment, pool table and lovely pizzas! We had a wonderful few days there when the weather was nice and a very blustery few days when it wasn't as even though the dunes are behind you, it is quite exposed. I would definitely return and would highly recommend it.
