Please note we have been advised that the touring site at this location has closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. From 2018 it will only be holiday lodges for hire or sale. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

My family & I stayed here for 1 night in a motorhome in August 2016. This holiday park is located in a lovely scenic area & the grounds were kept very tidy. The park was run by a friendly family & the outdoor swimming pool, chip van & coffee van visit was a nice bonus for our teenagers. We did feel it was geared more for touring vans & not motorhomes though. There didn't appear to be any facilities at all for motorhomes. (drainage, water hose etc. ) I don't know if it was because we were only booked in for 1 night but we were given an electric hook up hard standing pitch in the centre green amongst the tent pitches. That was okay but then we had young children constantly running around the motorhome unsupervised until after dark which worried me silly because they were so close to our electric hook up lead & an accident waiting to happen! The toilets & showers were adequate but could have done with being cleaned more often due to the volume of visitors in at that time. I have mixed feelings about this holiday park but perhaps if we had stayed in the main touring section in low season then my views may have been a lot different. I would return to this park but most definitely not in peak season.

It's three years since we were last here.

We were offered a fully serviced pitch. Smaller than the norm but level and sheltered. Only one tap and drain between two pitches. 10 days later a Y piece was added to the tap. An old one that leaked due a split o ring.

Toilet facilities in the new block are superb. The old block is tired but does the job.

The owners are decent helpful people. Good location.

However there appear to be more Lodges and Seasonals. In fact bar one pitch we were surrounded by them. Not a real issue as they were empty most of the time but there was a feeling of being marooned.

This is still a good place to be and the pricing is competetive.

As before quite a lot of construction work was going on. The noise wasn't too bad as we went out most days but the smell of wood preservers being applied made my wife sick.

I will return but hope the dog walk path is enlarged a bit to enable more easy throwing of the ball.

The nearby St Mabyn has had a major refit. A complete transformation. Sunday lunches are a must. The staff very welcoming.

Visited this site a few weeks ago touring caravan (for 5 nights) we packed up and left on the 4th night, the modern toilet/shower block was not clean, the actual bowls were but certainly not the the areas around them, I decided to mop the shower unit before I used it big mistake, as the mop was so dirty. Also one of the toilets had a cracked seat, definite no no. The old shower block was so much better because hardly anyone bothered to use it. Lovely dog walk on site, the shop was quite good and the lady who ran it was very nice, lovely bonus outdoor swimming pool. We agree with another review on here saying that they cater more for the lodge owners and camping clients. Our next port off call was looe caravan club site, back on track, you know what your going to get. Hate giving negative reviews but guess it was just not for us.

 Very quiet and peaceful site

Play park for children is lacking equipment

Swimming pool full of dead insects, not nice to swim in

Reception rarely open, list of mobile numbers to ring, lucky to get an answer

A bell to ring on the house gate but a while to wait to get any attention

Site ok for a night or two nights but remote otherwise and a fair drive for nearest shops, places to eat, tourist attractions ect

Site more geared to older generation and people who want a lodge than family's sadly

We had 5 days here on a hard standing + grass pitch (Area F). The camper fitted on the hard standing and our large 2-bed awning squeezed on the grass patch with just enough room in front for some chairs. A hedge ran along one edge of the pitch which was nice for privacy - I prefer pitches with full boundaries. The full hard standing pitches looked larger if you require more space.

We had a week of great weather which makes all the difference. The kids enjoyed the pool for a bit each day. It's not supervised, that's down to users. Rules such as 'No Bombing' etc were ignored by all but within reason! It's a nice pool in good condition with some seating around the edges on paved patio area.

The owners have set a new benchmark for showers. Not only is the existing shower block clean with plenty of hot water (none of the coin-pumping meter nonsense that so many are now using, that we always avoid), but they have a new block of bathrooms! Each one has a double-sized shower with glass screen and quality controls, a toilet, a wash basin, a seat, nicely tiled walls and floor with marble-style tiles. They are extremely homely! Other site-owners should visit this to see how great it can be done. They were always clean, a mop and bucket were also installed so users could leave them in an immaculate condition and everyone obliged which makes it even better.

Play areas kept the kids happy and it was safe for them to roam free.

Shop has all the usual bits without being overpriced (2 pint milk for a quid, for example).

We had electric hookup which worked as expected.

Pitches were level. The standard tent pitches didn't have much boundary marking from what I could see, seemed a bit squashed in some parts but not highly - that would be my only criticism but it is a small one, I have seen many tighter pitches than these, but also more spacious too.

We ate at the village pub one night - fair food at average prices (scampi bites with chips in a basket and upwards from there, served on grey slate and wood, someone has been watching Masterchef!) - sounds like the place is about to be done up. At Wadebridge over the bridge near the Travelodge there is a Marstons pub doing their usual '2 for 1' fayre which we also used one night. Busy! Other than that we self-catered.

We hired bikes for the Camel Trail at Wadebridge. There are a few hire shops to choose from right by the trail entrance- we used the Camel Trail Bike Shop as they had free parking on their premises.

There is a head-sculpture workshop at Wadebridge that you should consider too - ideal if you end up with rainy days with the kids. Make a big clay head and take it home.

Padstow and the beaches need no explaining - they were great.

I would use this site again and recommend it to families who like it playful for kids in the day but peaceful at night.

Quite easy to find this site, owners were very accommodating getting us in at short notice.

Reasonable shop, one shower block is superb, the other is clean, but showing signs of wear and tear.

A lot of seasonal pitches here, makes it busy on weekends, plus there is a seasonal click, in the caravan area anyway, although everyone was very friendly.

We didn't use the pool, kids loved the pigmy goats, who they regularly read on carrots.

Kids enjoyed the site very much, so that makes the stay good for us.

Would visit again.

A big thank you to the warden, never got to know his name but he was always around for help and advice when ever it was needed.

Spent 4 nights at this wonderful site. A real gem. Very clean everywhere, in fact the cleanest site I have stayed on!. Toilets and showers were plentiful, spotless and lots of hot water. The new block was a particular treat. The playgrounds were fun and well kept and my 7 year old daughter made lots of new friends. I felt happy to let her roam on her own as the site is not too big and strangers would have been noticed. There was also a small arcade with a few indoor activities. The swimming pool was excellent. Warm, a good size, decent depth to let the kids play safely. Lots of patio and grass space for the adults to watch and chill. The dog field was large and clean and just the job for our little Westie terrier. We used the shop which was well stocked and reasonably priced. Morning croissants and sausage rolls were tasty and welcome. The visiting chip shop was great too.

If I had any criticism it would be that our pitch was only just big enough for our 6 man Vango tent and parking for the Bongo. Neighbours were immediately next to us so if you are looking for a lot of privacy this probably isn't the site for you. However, all our neighbours were fine and it helped the children mix. Given the very reasonable tariff I don't think this is a huge issue.

The Mabyn Arms is well worth a lunch stop. Very friendly, great food and reasonable prices.

The site is less than an hour from us and I can see it being a family favourite for weekend breaks. Fabulous!

Excellent as relaxing and peaceful. Not full of chavs. Very respectful people. Up till today!-new arrivals on tent non electric hook up pitch-(at start in middle) kids launching a sock filled with balls crashing off opposite tents and belting a football off people's property when there is an adequate field with no cars or tents a stones throw away!-shame-always get one lot!

Wash up outdoor facilities by loos stink at times. Think after caravans empty their portaloos. Needs resolving! And could be more 'on site', entertainment more often. But then that may spoil how peaceful it is, and clientele it attracts. Otherwise facilities would have got a ten also

SIL & MIL had a static, we did the touring park, part hard and part grass.

The static was virtually brand new and very well equipped. It could have done with a power vacuum cleaner because MIL is messy! Otherwise brilliant.

Our touring caravan pitch was all we wanted. Thank goodness we had grass for the awning which stopped the hardstanding grit entering the caravan, .

Most of the pitches are seasonals but this proved to be an advantage. Most of the time we had the site to ourselves and never once queued for the facilities.

The original toilet block is super clean and plenty of hot water. The new block built by owner Dave Lloyd last year is to die for. Probably the very best I have experienced in 35 years of caravanning. Your very own mega large fully equipped bathroom. Absolute luxury.

The shop has shortish opening hours but ignore that. The mLloyd family will open up for you at most times, within reason, for your needs.

The 10 acre dog walk was more than sufficient for my two nuclear powered springer spaniels.

In the whole of Cornwall this site now qualifies as my second most secret gem of sites I want to return to.

I'll say nothing about the area. You know that anyway. The locals at The Mabyn Inn and the local village store PO couldn't be more welcoming and friendly.
