Recently spent a week at Glenmorris, during all the rain. Site coped very well and we all managed to stay dry. We had adjacent pitches to our other family members. Owners very welcoming and friendly. Toilets and showers basic but very clean (cleaned at 6.30am and throughout the day until 11pm!) and water hot. Small launderette with one washer and one dryer. Swimming pool great for the kids and fenced off with lockable gate. Good choice of supermarkets within about 10 mile, but the site shop stocked with the basics, sweets for the kids etc. Our little ones aged 1,3, and 5 really enjoyed their holiday.
Will be returning again next year.

Just come back from 7 (rainy!) nights here. The touring pitches are an average size, well tended & very slightly sloping.
The extreme weather meant that the touring fields were very muddy, & drivers not following the instruction not to park near their vans, but to use the car park, just added to the mud-fest! Wellies are therefore recommended, but in sunny conditions it would be fine.
The site owners were extremely friendly & helpful. The site shop stocked all necessities, and also sold freshly baked bread and croissants.
The shower & toilet blocks were adequate, although I felt that there was an insufficient amount for the number of pitches. There was hot water in the day, but it appeared to run out in the evenings. I believe that this was a plumbing problem, which would be remedied once the replacement part arrived. Again, given the weather, they got very muddy and wet, but it would have taken a valiant battle to keep them spotless. We didn't use the laundry, but it was always very busy! (Rained for the whole 7 days!).
The swimming pool looked great, but we didn't use it. The children's play areas were also of a good standard. The TV and games room had a Pool table, table tennis, and video games, and was very clean and tidy.
The park is peaceful & quiet, has plenty of open space, is also tidy, and well laid out. It is situated about 15 minutes from Bodmin, and is close to Newquay. Lands End was only about an hour away, so the site is well placed for seeing any part of Cornwall.
I believe it is recently under new management, who have plans for further refinement.
I would recommend visiting this park, but, if it is raining, be prepared for lots of mud!

Have just returned from this site after spending two weeks here in our caravan with friends in their caravan. What can I say these owners are so hard working and really want to do their best for you . We travelled through the night down to this site as we come from the north. We arrived on site at 7.30 am and pulled up into the car park. The owner came out to greet us and after finding out who we were then told us that we would have to wait for our pitch to be ready and also because of the hour we were not allowed to go down the pitch but were able to wonder about me and my friend headed to the toilets and were first off all not too impressed. How wrong could we be after being taken to our pitches by the owner in person we set up (do note that some of the pitches do slope as most fields do). The rain then came and stayed for most of our time so the field and toilets got muddy. However the owner asked people to park on the area near the toilets or in the car park no problem for us and did as we were told. Some people thought that they were beyond this and carried on driving on the field so all of them got chewed up did they care these people cause not. Even when they saw one of the owners with a walking stick helping to put gravel down on the field. The toilets were cleaned within an inch of their lives about 6 times a day. However more self centred people messed them up at ever opportunity that they could. These owners deserve a medal we found out that they had only taken over the site in feb and will be improving this site next year. Had a great time in the outdoor pool and shop was good would stay again was worth the drive down. Thanks for the great time and good luck with the site

Have just spent 15 nights at this site. The weather left a lot to be desired but the site coped very well. Sites are all spacious and well marked out. They were all well draining, and when the touring field started to get muddy, we were happy to leave our cars parked as requested on the hardstanding area near the toilet block. Toilets were kept very clean and there was always lots of hot water when I showered. (in fact I think these are the best free of charge camp showers I've experienced)
The laundry was adequate the first week but got quite busy the second - could do with another washing machine and tumble drier (there's only one of each at present)
The outdoor pool and baby pool were lovely and very clean - the kids loved them (tip-it's warmer in the evening than the morning)
Shop well stocked and not expensive. Freshly baked croissants and french sticks lovely !
I'd definitely stay here again.

My family and I visited this site for 1 week late July 2008. 1st impression was what a lovely picturesque site. Nice level grassed area throughout, well cared for. The owners at reception personally showed us to our pitch. The site is level throughout and pitch sizes were ample. Toilet / shower blocks reasonably clean, though usual bad experiences in high season i.E. Not enough hand towels, hot water only tepid when heavily used etc.
The site shop was handy, but small and pricey. Childrens games room had ping pong table (bring your own bats and ball)+ 1 pool table, large t.V. Screen and books to borrow.
Swimming pool was clean though rather small. It was heated but still too cold for most adults to bother with. Noise levels were good, didnt once experience late partying or disturbances even though the camp was almost full. You are a bit restricted if you fancy a beer at a nearby pub. There is only one for choice and it is a good 10-15 minutes walk from campsite. Kids loved it and they enjoyed being able to ride their bikes around the site too.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Glenmorris and will return again. Graham.

What a lovely site. Came back last weekend after a 6 night stay. Would stay again. Its a simple site, true to the camping spirit, but with enough facilities to keep the kids amused. There is a pool (heavy gate to it so little ones can't just wander in) and two play areas. There is also a games room with pool table, table tennis and an array of games machines. It 'felt' nice too, we were comfortable with our 10 year old and our friends 7 year old to go and play by themselves, they made some great friends, and we never felt nervous about them being out of our sight.
It is a clean and tidy site, and the owners and staff work really hard to keep it all together. I have to say all of the staff were very friendly, helpful and really made us feel welcome. The shop has basic items in, but not much spare camping stock (however 4 miles away is Wadebridge, which has an excellent camping/DIY shop for everything you need. The site was quiet after about 9.30pm, with no-one causing any problems. There is one washing machine (£4.00 per wash incl powder) and one drier (20p for 15 mins) the drier broke when we were there, but within the hour it had been fixed, despite the problem not being identified until about 7pm. This was great, as it had rained a lot for the first few days, so being able to wash and dry stuff was a necessity.
The site is within easy distance of places such as Wadebridge and Padstow, and also some very nice dog friendly beaches (Constantine Bay was our favourite, we spent hours dune surfing :0) with a lovely Cornish Tea at Pencarrow house, about 2 miles away. The only minor things that could be improved are; the one day we spent by the pool was somewhat disturbed by the chap who cuts the grass, it was done half way through the day, was extremely noisy, and we all had to move off the grass to let him do his job. After 7pm when the pool is closed would have been better. There are only 4/5 showers, with only one being big enough to allow a parent with a pushchair, so unless you time it right, be prepared for a wait. Only 1 hairdryer worked and there are no plug points to use your own. Lastly, thought this didn't affect us, the pitches with electric hook-up seemed pretty close together. Maybe that's normal but I noticed it this time.
All in all this is an excellent site, and very reasonably priced at £13.50 incl. Dog, whereas a lot of Cornish campsite charge a lot more in high season with nothing better to offer.

We have just stayed here for 7 nights and this was our first outing in a tent. There were four of us me, my husband , and our two sons who are 8 and 4. On arrival we were greeted by very pleasant owners and were told to pick our pitch. Where ever you chose you wouldn't be far from the central shower/toilet blocks, these were always very clean with plenty of free hot water (shower cubicles are a bit on the small side, but that's just a tiny thing). The pitches are on a very slight slope and the whole site is very clean and well maintained. My boys enjoyed the two adventure play areas but loved the heated outdoor pools (1 large and a toddler pool), these were also very well kept with lovely grassy area and seating for poolside sunbathing. We had a bit of rain when we were there but the grass was only damp, there was no mud or puddles of water anywhere which meant the drainage must be very good. There is also a small games room with pool and table tennis, and a few arcade type games which are really cheap. The shop is stocked with basics plus some little extras and all at very reasonable prices. We heard the odd tractor trundle up the lane but overall it was very peaceful and it was very quite after 9pm. The site is in a quiet spot just of all the major routes which makes it easy to get about to local attractions. The Eden project is less than half an hour away(we went twice), we would recommend the cider farm and a trip to padstowe where you can have a speedboat ride also the Trethorne leisure farm is a must for young and not so young as it has slides and ball pools for adults too( We were there from the minute it opened at 10am until it closed at 5.30)Very reasonably priced and lots to do. Overall we had a great 7 nights and would certainly go there again. It was great value for money as you can buy 7 nights for the price of 6.

Despite it being June the weather was far from June like but this did not deter us. We were given a hearty welcome by the Owner and directed to the field. There was plenty of room to pitch our brand new tent (previously unpitched!) and despite quite a strong breeze we pitched happily. The site itself was well laid out on reasonably flat ground. The shower block was central. Although this was kept clean some of the showers were a little reluctant to deliver hot water in the morning. In essence the shower block could have done with a makeover. The site is a little remote but as we like the peace and quiet we were happy although the touring field is right by the road which does get a little noisy at times and if the wind is in the right direction (which it unfortunately was during the whole of our stay!) then the road noise from the A30 could be heard too. Unfortunately the weather did beat us into submission and we left a day earlier than expected. We will return, hopefully when the weather is kinder to us.

My family spent a week at this site for which we will most certainly be returning next year. The site is small but well maintained with level well drained pitches which are divided into two fields. It is very quiet which we liked with a great a pool for the children which was never crowded when we visited. A nice site for families with young children and couples looking for peace and tranquillity. Beaches are about 25mins drive which wasn't too bad and a couple of good pubs could be found in the nearby village and St Kew further down the road which both served good pub grub.

August 2005 Just got back from 5 nights at Glenmorris. First time there and very pleased. They've addressed the trees / hedges issue mentioned in an earlier review.
The site has plenty of space on gently sloping ground. We were in the touring field. The toilet / washing facilities could not be faulted, always very clean and heated which was great. The outdoor swimming pool is also heated and was very warm, almost like having a bath! The grass pitches are well mown and not marked out so you can pick a spot to suit. Despite being in the middle of August, which must be pretty much peak season, there were still plenty of space to choose from.
The reception / shop stock just the bare essentials like milk / bread / etc. But there is a small supermarket 4 or 5 miles away in St Kew for nearly everything else you may need. The site is very quiet as far as nearby road noise is concerned. It is well placed for exploring Cornwall as it is centrally placed just outside Bodmin.
There is a pub and small general store in St Mabyn itself which is at most 30 minutes walk from the campsite.
The site was ideally suited for my family (me, the missus, 3 kids 6, 10 & 11) and we will certainly return there again for our next trip to Cornwall. We had a great time with day trips to Eden Project, Mackerell fishing from Padstow and a few days on the beach at Daymer Bay.
