 Nice site with good, clean facilities.
Maybe a little too clinical for those used to the rough & tumble of living in tents (we've only just got our campervan).
Handy for walking to the Strid, Barden tower & Bolton abbey.
Be prepared for visits by the ducks.
This is primarily a site for older people; not much for the kids to do as ball games not allowed.
Being a club site it's fairly pricey compared to "normal" campsites.

We choose this site for location, you can walk from the site onto the Bolton Abbey myriad of footpaths without having to walk on any roads.
There are miles and miles of accessible walking paths. Dogs welcome but note no cycling allowed.
Site itself fairly small, as expected very well kept with typically clean facilities block.
The cafe outside the entrance is closed and up for sale. Next closest would be at the pavilion about 35 minutes walk.
The various walks and the Abbey itself are more than enough to keep you occupied for a few days. Skipton 15 minutes drive well worth a visit too.
No phone signal on site. We used free CAMC WiFi which was enough to send /receive email or look up stuff but not much else.
Very peaceful site which we will use again.

Lovely site, in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed walks on the Bolton Abbey estate, despite the rain.
Helpful friendly staff who kept facilities very clean. On site shop( which we didn’t use). Cafe near by( less than 5min walk)
Only draw back if wishing to visit local towns and villages was an infrequent bus service.

We stayed on this site for a couple of nights, testing out a campervan that we'd hired for the weekend.
The site is a bit of a way out from Skipton, further than we'd anticipated, but the scenery is amazing and its far enough away from roads that all you can hear is the local wildlife and the river.
There are rabbits, a field of alpacas close by and when we stayed, two mischievous kittens, who kept going under the van and loitering to see what we were up to.
We sat out and star watched the first night as it was so dark and clear.
The facilities were good - free showers and nice toilets and washrooms. Staff were friendly too and kept everything nice and clean.
All you could ask for from a site.

Lovely site in the grounds of Bolton Abbey - we visited at the start of July when Lockdown easing began. Plentiful walking around the estate, with one way systems in place to ensure social distancing.
Site itself is lovely and peaceful, unless you’re pitched next to the school on a weekday. Usual standards to be expected from CC site.
Understand now why this site is always booked up - will be back when we can get in again !

What a lovely setting! In a peaceful area adjacent to Strid Woods, with numerous walking trails through, or down to the River Wharfe. Gorgeous walks alongside the river to either Barden Bridge or to Bolton Priory.
Lawrence and Yvonne keep the site impeccably clean and tidy. Always at hand with, a friendly smile, willingness to help, to make sure you enjoy your stay as much as possible.
A special place.

Terrific location for those who like walking, particularly the path from the site which leads down to the Strid. There is a great cafe at the entrance where we enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast and then afternoon tea another day following an early morning walk. It was a delight.
The site is on two levels. We were on the bottom level where it is quite shaded at one end. That is probably a bonus in the height of summer, but late in the season it is probably a bit better on the higher ground.
Overall the site deserves all the high praise, not least for the beautiful surroundings.

We loved the campsite, we arrived just after 1 pm and had our choice of pitches. The site manager told us the sunniest spots were on the top level, around pitch 50 area, so we chose there.
The toilets and showers were immaculate (although I was a bit irritated by other campers leaving the door wide open allowing insects in). There are only 4 showers, but they were never busy and there are individual washing areas in cubicles.
There's a dishwashing area and motorhome service point. The site is wooded and beautifully laid out. You can access all the Bolton Abbey walks - although as other reviewers say, there is a reasonbly steep hill down to the river. The walking along the river is lovely, and Bolton Abbey itself is stunning.
We got a taxi into Skipton one day - the taxi company was recommended by the campsite, and it cost £10. Parking for Bolton Abbey is £10, so its a good idea to walk in from campsite.
There's a narrow archway coming from Bolton Abbey, so if you have a wide unit, you need to take account of this (although the service bus got through - with his mirrors pulled in!).

We stayed on the upper level along from reception. Bright open pitches with plenty of light - we looked at the lower level and thought it seemed a bit over-shadowed with trees.
We had a non awning pitch but it was plenty big enough - not sure how much difference in price as we still paid £25 a night. The loos and showers do seemed a bit dated, but always clean and the showers were piping hot.
For us it was all about location, campsite entrance is on the Strid footpath network, mile after mile of footpaths through the woods, to the abbey or the village.
From the campsite there is also a wheelchair friendly walk in the woods, well set out with gravel paths.
We did the walk from campsite to the Abbey, there was a small coffee / sandwich van parked up at the children's play area approx 30 minutes from site, then there is the Pavillion cafe about an hour down the path and another cafe at the Abbey.
We found the site expensive but its £10 to park in the car-park next to the campsite, so that taken into consideration a night there isnt too bad.

We have just returned from a four night stay at the Bolton Abbey club site. The approach to the site was quite hairy as there is a narrow bridge as you approach Bolton Abbey. We had a few inches to spare on each side of the caravan, but it took a bit of maneuvering to get through.
The site itself is divided into two areas, the lower area is all awning pitches whereas the upper area has a mixture of awning and non-awning pitches.
We had a non awning pitch which was level from side to side but sloped quite a bit from front to back, so much so that the front of the caravan was right down to almost its lowest point while the rear steadies were extended to their maximum. Most pitches seemed to be like this on the top section of the site.
The toilet and shower facilities were satisfactory and always kept very clean. There were only four toilets and four showers but as cleaning doesn’t begin until 11:30 AM there was a more staggered approach to showering in the morning which meant that the four showers were adequate and I never had to queue.
The site itself is on the edge of a wood and you can walk directly from the site into the woods and along the river in both directions.
Turn left along the river and you can pick up the Dales Way which goes to Grassington and beyond (that would be a long walk) or turn right and you can walk along to the ruins at Bolton Abbey which is about 4 miles away. We really enjoyed walking in the woods and had a couple of lovely days out walking to different places.
However, walks from the site are not suitable for those with limited mobility as there is a very very steep hill from the site down to the river, so whilst when you get to the river you can have a nice gentle stroll along the banks, getting up and down to the river from the site is a bit of a climb.
There is a tearoom in the car park right beside the site but we didn’t try it so I can’t comment, however we did find a great farm shop and restaurant in Skipton called Keelham farm and we went there often to either eat in the restaurant or buy lovely local food from the farm shop to cook at the van. The Devonshire arms is about 5 miles from the site but it was very expensive.
Due to the isolated nature of the site there is no mobile signal at all. I am with Vodafone and my husband is with Virgin which uses the EE signal and neither of us could get any signal on site.
There is also no television signal so you have to plug into the EHU bollard which gives you eight channels, however we found our bollard particularly temperamental and we were only able to get a signal on a couple of occasions during our four days. This doesn’t really matter to us as we are not big technology users and we don’t watch a lot of TV but it might be a problem for some people who like to stay connected.
Overall, we really enjoyed staying at this site due to the peace and quiet and great walking and we will definitely return in the future.
