Amazing campsite for all the family, our 4 year old loved feeding the animals twice daily. Clean toilets, hot shower's and the owners are fantastic with the kids. Just down the road from longleat Safari. Will be going again next year.

My family and I spent 6 nights at Midbrooks and had a great time. We had other family join us for the first part and everyone said they were disappointed to be leaving and would like to go back again. It was so relaxing and Alan and Sue were friendly and welcoming. Our daughter loved feeding the animals, the baby rabbits being the highlight for her. The facilities were nice and and clean, and all the campers were considerate of others using them. You had all the little luxuries of 2 fridges, freezer, microwave, hair dryer and a plug point which made it comfortable, but you didn't lose that simplicity of camping. It was lovely having a hot shower everyday, without having to race the meter or the push tap every 20 seconds! The cream teas are delicious, definitely worth making sure you fit one into your stay.
The local village was lovely and everyone was so friendly, the shop was well stocked and the pub had a lovely beer garden, great for children to play but spacious enough for adults to enjoy too.
We will definitely be back.

What an absolute gem of a campsite! Small but has everything you need, quaint showers and toilets in what appears to be a shed but has perfectly clean and functional facilities hidden inside!
There are chickens and rabbits, ducks and a pig called Molly who you can accompany the site owner, Alan, and feed twice a day, there is also a beautiful Romany caravan you can look inside !
Campfires are allowed providing you buy the wood from the site and you can hire a bicycle for your children for a really nominal fee for the week,
Alan and Sue are lovely welcoming people and although we didn't get chance you can order a cream tea with homemade scones and jam, definitely will be trying this on our next trip!
We had such an amazing week here, made some great new friends and can't wait to visit again next year!

We have just got back from a four night stay at Midbrooks campsite. I wish we could have stayed longer.
The site wasn't too bad to find, we probably wouldn't have found it as easily without a sat nav.
We pulled up just as the last of the bank holiday campers were leaving. We were greeted by Sue and she introduced us to her husband Alan. Both were very welcoming and said we had the pick of any pitch. They really are lovely people.
The site itself is very well laid out. Every pitch is marked out with long grass, trees or hedges separating each one. The weather was about to turn as we picked a spot at the far end of the site which is raised and level but had shelter from the wind near some trees. Some pitches were on a slight slope but all were of a decent size. Folk who have monster tents might feel a bit cramped. We had ample space for our Outwell cape coral S, with a 3mx3m gazebo and car. There were also a few pitches with electric hook ups. The site is well maintained and the grass kept short.
This small and idyllic campsite has a great rustic feel, with its hand painted signs and notices. But it is also very well equipped, the facilities included one unisex toilet and shower in the main field with a fridge, hair dryer and phone charger point. This is also were the the various recycling bins were. The toilets and showers are housed in converted sheds but are very well cleaned and supplied inside. If you go up past the hand built gypsy caravan (Which looks amazing) there is another unisex toilet and shower. This is also where the washing up sink is located. There is also another fridge with freezer and a microwave there also. The water was also lovely and hot.
This site is great for kids, we don't have any but I could imagine the site being a great place for kids to roam and play. There are animals to go see, Molly the pig was great and loved eating our left over veggies. There's also rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens and geese. You can go round with Alan at either nine in the morning or around six in the evening to help go feed the animals. We are huge animal lovers and got to witness a chick being born. It made my girlfriends day.
They also hire out bikes of all sizes for a very small fee. The site is very safe and secure for kids to go play. There's also no busy roads nearby.
The site also has a small tea room which I assume is open in the holiday season. You can order home baked scones for a small fee and you can also buy duck and chicken eggs too.
The site lets you have fires, part of the reason why we picked this site. It doesn't feel like camping without one. Wood has to be bought from the site for a cost of six pounds a bag. The hire of fire pits is also available. There's no fires allowed on the ground.
This site is in a quiet area with very little road noise, You also get a great nights sky as there is little light pollution to the area.
There are lots to do in the area. Longleat safari park is about half an hours drive away, Which was an awesome day out. If your going as a family I'd highly recommend buying a two day ticket. If your going as a couple a day ticket should be enough. Because a lot of the attractions there are for kids we managed to see everything (some twice) in a day. We did go off season though. Stone henge is worth a drive to if you have never seen it before also, It took less than an hour to get there. Be warned though it is very expensive for what you get to do. £16. 40 each to walk around (at a distance) the stones seemed a bit much. Avebury on the other hand is much better to go to. Its free for starters, its bigger, and there's more to do in the area. For motor lovers a trip to Haynes motor museum is a must, Its about an hours drive away from the site.
Supermarkets are nearby also and the local village has a pub but we didn't go there.
We generally go away off season, Which meant in this case we got an aerial display courtesy of the armed forces, With low flying Apache helicopters in the area. It was amazing to watch.
All in all this a great site. I would highly recommend this site to anyone, and looking at the other reviews of this site I'm not alone. I hope to return in the future to this site, even though its a good four hour drive away. I wish them all the best in keeping this site going. Its great to visit a site where the owners truly enjoy what they are doing and the place they have.

We have recently returned from a fantastic stay at Midbrooks. We travelled with out two children aged 8 and 2 and as this was our youngest daughters first camping trip we were slightly nervous about how she would be. We needn't have worried at all, she had the most fabulous time and loved every minute of being at the campsite. Alan and Sue are wonderful hosts and so patient with the children in allowing them to help feed the animals on site at feeding time. We were very lucky that during our stay we got to see Molly have her babies and this fascinated both our children and we made frequent trips to check how they were all doing. On our last evening we sat on the decking whilst watching the children help feed the animals with Alan and had the lovely cream tea (absolutely delicious and an absolute must for anyone visiting). The shower and toilet were both very clean and perfectly adequate for what you would need. Having the on site fridge and microwave facilities was a brilliant addition especially when travelling with our toddler who still enjoys her milk in the evening. The children can hire bikes whilst staying for a small fee and our daughter has nearly learnt how to peddle a bike as a result of this although the removal of the stabilisers could be a little way off! The pitches are a large size and give plenty of room. I could go on forever about how wonderful this site is and would not hesitate in a second in recommending this to any families looking for somewhere to stay. We will definitely be looking to return! Just got back from our first ever family camping trip and I decided to go to Midbrooks based on the reviews I had read, and we weren't disappointed at all. This is a brilliant camp site for young families, the kids had so much fun feeding the animals that are on site, this happens with the host twice a day.
The pitches are spacey, you can hire fire pits and buy logs at a reasonable price. Also, hire bikes, there are all shapes and sizes for a minimal fee.
The surrounding area is lovely, with a local pub, beautiful church and lovely village. A large Tesco, Aldi, b&q just up the road. We also spent a day in Longleat, just 7 miles away from the site. You are made very welcome and we will most definitely be going back again.

This is the most marvellous site for families with children, particularly younger children. The hosts are amazing, great with kids, very obliging (logs for fire at 9:40pm. I had forgotten) and lovely site with cosy pitches. There are animals, and feeding time is a great event. There are also bikes for hire, and our children essentially learned to ride here, in a lovely safe atmosphere,
The site is peaceful at night. Great site.

I have visited Midbrooks many times over the past four years and it continues to be both my and my children's favourite campsite.
Alan and Sue are wonderful hosts and their greeting is warm whatever the weather.
The pitches, although varying in size, are all very generous and well maintained.
A few highlights.
1) Animal feeding times (9am and 6pm daily) to delight the children
2) Sue's cream tea is a delicious treat
3) The walk (or bike ride) to the village with it's volunteer run shop and pub (great food and a fab beer garden)
4) The complete freedom it offers children - the site is incredibly safe for my 7 and 9 year old and very family friendly
5) Simplicity at it's best (we are not talking fancy shower blocks but everything is wonderfully clean) plus with little luxuries such as a shared fridge, microwave, phone charging point and hairdryer
6) Being able to have a campfire (braziers are provided but the wood must be bought from the owners at a reasonable price)
7) Kids bikes available to rent for just a few pounds - they love whizzing around the site on them!
I could go on but it has to be visited to really appreciate the magic of the place. Just don't tell too many people!

Just back from yet another amazing weekend at Alan and Sue's fantastic family campsite. We have been going at least twice a year for the last four years having totally fallen for this charming site, lovely family feel and brilliant owners.
Like others say it's situated down a long country lane so is extremely safe. The children get to feed the animals with Alan at 9am and 6pm each day - getting the chance to hold a baby chick or feed a lamb depending on the time of the year.
There are also bikes for hire for the children to cycle round the site. Alan boasts about how many children have learnt to ride at his site - my son is one of them.
For the parents the site is small enough that you can relax at your tent knowing the children are safe exploring and making friends and you get to sit around a campfire at night - relaxing while the kids sleep, exhausted from a brilliant day.
We live about an hour from this site so it's perfect for a weekend away. We have introduced lots of people to it - all of whom love its charm, simplicity and simply wonderful owners.
If you haven't visited yet and are looking for a site especially suitable for children from toddler age plus don't hesitate to make a booking. My only worry about this site is the day that my children decide they are too old for it because that will be the end of a beautiful era.
