This site is just as good as all the reviews say!
The pitches are well-labelled & fitted our large 8 berth Khyam Espace tent. The toilets, showers & washing-up area are very clean & well maintained.
There is loads for children to do. We found the site to be safe for the children (4 & 5) to run off & play by themselves. There is a selection of bikes for hire at £2 per bike per stay. They went round with the owner twice a day & fed the lambs, Molly the pig, the rabbits & guinea pigs, & collected the duck & hen eggs.
You can light a campfire on one of the braziers in the evening.
The site is quiet, except for animal noise & children playing!
The pub in Steeple Ashton has a huge beer garden with a children's play area.
I'd certainly recommend this site, & it is quite inexpensive compared to many others.

What a brilliant site it was peaceful and idylic.
The pitch was reasonably level, there were ample recycling facilities and the loos & showers were spotless.
The shop in the village is run by volunteers for the benefit of the community and does a very reasonable breakfast choice, amongst other things. We would recommend it.
A site we will be visiting again. If it's not fully booked!

We have just returned from Midbrooks and can fully recommend it from a family point of view. When we arrived the site was perfect, lovely green grass, pitches divided beautifully - unfortunately it then started raining and felt like it didn't stop - but a bit of mud didn't deter Alan from taking all the children round to feed the animals twice a day. The owners - Alan and Sue - are very friendly and welcoming but not at all intrusive. Sue's Cream teas are a must - homemade, warm scones, homemade jam, clotted cream and a huge teapot of lovely tea - this is taken outside the summerhouse overlooking their beautiful garden, the chickens and the baby rabbits and guinea pigs. You really don't want to move when you're there.
The toilets and showers were very clean considering the muddy weather and the shower always had lovely hot water. Amongst the facilities there is a useful fridge/freezer and a washing up area, braziers and logs to hire, a wide selection of bikes to hire at £2 for your entire stay. Lovely walks around the local area, short 1 mile walk to Steeple Ashton and a very nice pub called The Longs Arms - lovely big beer garden with play equipment and very nice food - especially Sunday Lunch - and real ales. There is also a village shop that pretty much sells everything. If we were to criticise anything it would be when the site is busy the toilets and showers can be rather busy! But this is the case everywhere when it's busy.
Our children 8, 7 and nearly 3 loved the animals and equally loved Alan as he involved them in feeding the pigs, lambs, chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs. The children had endless fun playing football, cricket, riding the borrowed bikes. It also felt really safe as there was no main roads and you could usually see them when they wondered off to see the animals. Probably the best campsite we've ever been to.

What a wonderful campsite. The setting is beautiful and is ideal for kids as there's no traffic like you get at more commercial sites. Our 2 kids aged 4 and 2 had a great time especially at 9am and 6pm each day when the owner allows the kids to help out with feeding. They currently have baby rabbits which are so cute and the children were allowed to pick them up (carefully). The toilets and showers look basic when you arrive but they are clean and there's plenty of hot water. Steeple Ashton is well worth a visit. We also visited Bradford on Avon parking by the canal and walking along the canal and river into town - v. Nice. Saw the white horse at Westbury too - lovely views. But we were more than happy to spend the rest of the time lazing around the campsite. We hope to return soon!

Just back from a 2 day stay on this wonderful site. Having 5 Whippets it's not easy to find a site that will accept them all without wanting to charge stupid rates!. On arrival we were welcomed by Sue and Alan. he site was a joy to stay in, no young children ourselves but several campers with children enjoyed the daily routine of feeding the lambs chicken rabbits pig etc with Alan who clearly had endless time and patience for them and their questions. The facilities were great the showers hot, clean & tidy.We returned home totally relaxed. Thank-you Sue & Alan for allowing us to share your corner of paradise, as threatened. We will return

Site is located at the end of a country lane with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Sue and Alan who told us all we needed to know, then said we could park in any of the the premarked pitches which are of a reasonable size. There are no electric hook ups but Alan charged our battery every day for us so no problems there.
The kids immediately went off to explore and came back with a summary of the facilities. Two showers with hot and cold, two toilets, where the water disposal, water points and recycling and rubbish areas were. The highlight for them was the tree house, a great hideaway for them in which they spent many an hour in 'their space'.
We immediately felt relaxed and at peace with the world in this quiet relaxing part of Wiltshire. With the awning up, a cup of tea on the go and and everything unpacked pride of place was given to Molly's bucket for the vegetable scraps.
Although Molly wasn't there (expectant mother) two other pigs were in their pen ready for feeding later in the day. In another field were the three new lambs which the kids looked foward to feeding and as this happened three times each day everyone got the chance to have a go including picking them up and putting them to bed at the end of the day.
You can hire bikes from Alan and Sue for the duration of your stay and with all sizes available and a variety to chose from it hardly seemed worth taking ours. The village pub which has a good menu is only 15 minutes cycle ride down the lane so mums and dads can go for a drink without the car.
Alan and Sue hire out braziers and logs to have your own camp fires which the kids loved as this meant roasting marshmellows over an open fire, it was nice to see the other campers doing similar things with their families - the log fires is a nice touch. Please note that only logs bought on site should be used.
Cream teas can be purchased from Sue given one hours notice but we were so busy being out and about we didn't get the chance to try them, I guess we will have to go back another time to try.
Alan and Sue always had time for a chat and are very good with the children of all ages. Whilst feeding the animals our hosts would tell us much about the site and also local places to visit which are not necessarily in the area guide books so do ask.
We would definitely return here as we found the hosts, place and ambience welcoming and relaxing with space for the kids to have fun. I remember Alan telling me that he loves to see the kids and families having camp fires, playing games and enjoying themselves and as if on cue just as we were leaving the kids asked if we could come back again which for us says it all.

We chose this site based apon previous users reviews which gave the site glowing reports. For the most part we must agree, we were made very welcome by Alan, the pitches were spacious, the animals kept the grandchildren occupied as did the bikes which were available for hire. The site safety being such a distance from other properties was was a bonus as was the fact that so many of the children got together and played like kids are meant to. We did however suffer from some spells of poor weather which did spoil things a little. Steeple Ashton the nearby village was a delight as indeed was the local pub, serving great food and a nice pint, the local church was also realy interesting and the local anglers lake provided a good mornings fishing. If one was to make a criticism of Midbrooks it would have to be the toilet / shower facilities which were unfortunately completely inadequate. The extremely flimsy engaged / vacant system just did not work as with a breath of wind the labels were spun around. At the time of our visit (High Season) there were about 25/30 adults on site as well as many children and two WCs is simply not enough especially as each loo also contained the wash basin.

Fabulous, friendly site, what camping is all about. Very much a family site for those with young children. We visited with our 2yr-old and 4 month old. Had a lovely homemade cream tea at a bargain £2.50, set out beautifully by the summer house.
Upon arrival we were presented with a 'Molly' bucket which was to be filled with all our left over foods. At 9am and 6pm we met with Alan (aka The Pied Piper) to feed the pigs (Molly+ piglets), chickens, ducks, rabbits and sheep. Our daughter was as excited to see 'Yalan' (excuse her pronunciation Alan) as she was the animals!
Truly great stay. Good village shop selling local bacon. Go but pls don't tell too many people!

Wow! This site was great. The site is simple, but has showers and toilets, which seemed to be cleaned out several times a day. 'Farmer' Alan is the best host you can imagine. At 9am and 6pm he has a host of kids leading him around the site to feed the animals. If you have kids then missing the feeds is not an option. In addition the kids help collect the eggs each morning. Fried Duck eggs were great! We each got a 'Molly' bin into which our scraps of food were placed, so that they could be taken to Molly each morning and evening. The location of the site is great. Trowbridge only a 10 minute drive away has plenty of shops for all essentials (and not so essentials!), and we found the train service brilliant. The station car park was almost empty, and cost £2 per day, and then there were 2 trains an hour to Bath and Bristol. Much more relaxing than driving! We cycled to Devizes one day (approx 12 miles each way) along mostly flat country lanes. FANTASTIC! We seemed to find brilliant pubs everywhere. The ones we found all seemed to do excellent food, and serve good local beer. To sum it up. Great location, Great Site.

This is a wonderful, refreshing site to visit. The facilities are basic but clean and the owners are extremely friendly. The pitches are adequate with plenty of room for large tent, car and seating. Fresh water on tap and recycling facilities provided. We picked this site initially because it allowed camp fires, with bags of firewood on sale at the site - £5 a bag. Great fun! Children are excellently catered for - a tree house has been constructed at the front of the site, bikes can be hired for the duration and of course the animals are fed daily - you'll be in trouble if your not back on site by feeding time! 9am and 6pm feedings. There were baby rabbits and chicks for the children to hold and play with while we were there, chickens, lambs, pig and piglets to feed as well. Centrally placed, there are many places to visit - Longleat, Wookey Hole, Roman Bath, Stonehenge, Westbury white horse and Bratton camp.Enjoy!
