This is a beautiful tranquil site about a mile from the local village, with fantastic views. We camped here just before Easter and had the site to ourselves. At £7/ night for a family of four this was good value. The facilities were clean and well kept, and there was plenty of hot water. We were made very welcome, especially the children - they were invited to bottle-feed the lambs each morning and evening and collect the eggs from the hen-house. This was the highlight of the holiday for them! The weather was freezing cold, but we were able to keep warm around our camp fire. We bought a barrowful of logs for £5 and this was enough for an evening and a breakfast fire as well (essential during heavy frost!). We visited Longleat, which is about 15-20 minutes drive.

A peaceful, tranquil site at the end of a long lane which was just perfect for our first weekend of family camping. We came with our 3 children (5 and under) and met up with two other families. The owners kindly put us together and since the site was not too busy we had no other neighbours.
The owners were very friendly and took the time to talk to all of us, especially the children. The children loved the whole experience and had the space to run around, play football, chuck balls all in total safety as well as having the opportunity to hand feed the tame lambs, collect eggs literally from under the hens and provide Molly the pig with her daily rations. The facilities were simple - an outdoor sink with hot water for washing up, one toilet and one shower but all were kept very clean. Our search for a site was lead by a desire to have a camp fire which the owners allowed - lifting and replacing the turf after the fire. A wheelbarrow of logs cost £5 and kept us going for the evening.
This site was perfect as a place to go to where you are made to feel very welcome and feel more down to earth. The pub in the village of Steeple Ashton (The Long Arms) was 1 mile from the campsite and was very smart but welcomed the 7 children and gave us a quick turnaround for an evening meal. A pleasant stroll along the Kennet and Avon Canal from Semmington gave the children the chance to see boats using the locks and an examination of one of the local White Horses completed our weekend. The weekend was more about camping than activities and Midbrooks was a fantastic, welcoming site for that.

We have just returned from this campsite having spent the Bank Holiday weekend there. We had a fabulous time and would thoroughly recommend it. We went with 2 other families and had a total of 7 children ranging from 20 months to 7 years old. It was a very safe, small and friendly site set in the most beautiful, peaceful countryside. The owners were wonderful and very friendly. The freshly laid eggs were a real hit with the children's breakfast (not to mention the parents!). Feeding the pet lambs, Molly the pig and the chickens was the highlight of my 5 year-old's weekend! Whereas my 7-year old son had a great time helping prepare the camp fire each night (logs available by the barrow load). There was a flushing toilet and hot shower, both kept very clean. The owners also had a number of adult and children's bikes available for hire (superb countryside for cycling around) and they even had a summer house and deck area where you could enjoy home-made cream teas.
We had tea in the local pub on Sunday night - it was very reasonably priced and they were very happy to cater for a large party with children. The food was very good.
A real gem of a camp site

This is our new favourite camp site! First place we've found that not only allows you to have camp fires, but will sell you firewood too. We were lucky enough to stay when the camp site was relatively quiet, so the single loo and shower room were not a problem, in excellent order, and spotless. Hosts are the friendliest you will find anywhere, and all the farm animals around the site make it really special. The local village is tiny but very picturesque with an excellent gastro-pub. With Bradford-on-avon 20 mins drive away, and Bath 45 mins, there is plenty to do for a longer stay. This site is highly recommended.

We took the family to Longleat for the weekend and found this site from the ukcampsite website. A small site with about room for 15 tents with only some flat pitches, there is also only one toilet, one shower and one sink so you may have to wait for amenities. That said, this is still a fantastic site. The site has several animals for the kids to feed including rabbits, ducks, chickens, pigs, goats and sheep. The views are beautiful across the fields with roaming cattle right next to you. The owners are the most friendliest I've met, they sell fresh eggs on site and when my little boy wanted just one for breakfast, he was given one as a gift! They allow the lighting of campfires with the turf lifted and sell a wheelbarrow of firewood for £4 which was great fun and the best thing? Pitches were £4 per tent per night!!

July 2004 This is a small site which is off of the beaten track and was very quiet on the weekend that we visited. The facilities are simple but clean & tidy
The owners were around most of the time and were very pleasant. There are a number of animals around - a pig, some goats & a couple of dogs when we visited.
Although we only had a very brief stay, I would definitely recommend this site to people who want something small and rural.
