A wonderful, welcoming site which both we and the children (9, 5 and 5) all thoroughly enjoyed.
The pitches were substantial enough to fit our 2 4-man tents and a gazebo, and the car.
At first the 2 showers and 2 toilets seemed light. But the lack of more simply was never a problem. The toilets were always spotlessly clean. The showers had plentiful hot water. The only reason we have given 9/10 for the facilities is the limited toilet block which genuinely was not a problem for us (and the site was full) but others may want to be aware of.
For children, the site is a dream. Safe, secure and fun. Feeding time was much loved, as were the hired bikes (£3 for duration of the stay), and, in particular, the evening fires. The Children were able to enjoy a real freedom.
Feeding time, twice a day, meant the children being taken around various animals for half-an-hour on each occasion to feed the animals, and get in their pens. Alan had a very free approach with the children in with the animals which allowed them, again, a freedom they are not always able to enjoy.
The local village has a pub which we would highly recommend for Sunday lunch, and fish and chips on Tuesdays.
Trowbridge, 10 minutes drive away, has all the shops you'd need for provisions and had a great camping shop (B&H Camping).
Plenty of English Heritage and National Trust properties around.
There is no question: we will be back.

First visit to Midbrooks but won't be our last, there are only 17 pitches and so not to manic! Kids got to feed the animals in the morning and at night which they loved. The pitches were a reasonable size, we were lucky as we had the biggest one. You can have a fire at night and they supply grill and firewood for £6.
They have a microwave (handy for sterilising if you have a baby, which we did)2 fridges and a freezer. A couple of points to charge phone but anyone could take it but you are all in the same boat as such so didn't feel worried. 2 Showers and toilets is the only down fall, queueing can be a little stressful but had hot water and strong spray so could of been worse! Excellent value for money I feel. Looking forward to going again as is my 5 yr old who wanted to stay all summer holidays!

A lovely small friendly site, with large marked out pitches and extremely helpful owners. An ideal site for children who are able to feed the animals and rent out bikes. There are 2 toilets and 2 showers which are in separate small sheds but which were adequate for our needs very rarely had to wait. There is a fridge freezer a fridge and a microwave available which is very useful. The campsite is quite a long way down a single track country lane and out of the way for everything so you need a car, but all in all this campsite more than filled our expectations and a good time was had by all

This is a very friendly campsite with lovely grass pitches, all good sized and sheltered. The children loved feeding the animals and you can get a bucket for scraps to feed Molly the pig.
Fresh eggs (hen and duck) are available from the site and you can also buy firewood to have your own campfire, which was lovely.
The site is great for children to run around in and play.
There is no electricity but there is a fridge and freezer for use by campers so didn't mind that at all.
Only criticism would be that there are only 2 showers and 2 toilets, and on a busy weekend you often had to wait. Hot water variable. There is 1 washing up sink, with no shelter from rain, which made the washing up even less pleasant than usual!
However the warm welcome and the beautiful surroundings made this a very pleasant stay.

This is our third visit to Midbrooks, at the specific request of our children (aged 10 & 8). The site was full (max 17 pitches) but it still felt spacious without being on top of each other.
Next door to Keevil Airfield, lots of gliders to watch. Helicopters often also do night practises, great to watch and they don't stay for long.
Alan installed a new fridge whilst we were there, which was a good idea as there is no freezer block facility. He is always checking for things that need fixing and that pitches are ok etc and as has been said before, is very cheerful and great with the children at animal feeding time. We had one of Sue's cream teas this time and what yummy scones they were!
Would also recommend hiring a Canadian Canoe on the Kennet & Avon canal at Bradford-on-Avon. Only £10 an hour and it is a lovely gentle way to enjoy the water, the wildlife and the narrowboats.

We spent just the one night here, to try our new tent (and our new baby!) out. Our two older children loved the place, and so did we. The baby hasn't told us what she thought, but she seemed happy enough.
The facilities were perfect for our needs, the toilets etc clean and the fridge & microwave very handy. The small size of the site makes it very friendly, a lot of children seemed to be on site, and everyone played together happily.
Contrary to what someone else said below, there seemed to me to be plenty of room to play in between tents and in a couple of extra green spaces.
The owners were very friendly and helpful - we bought firewood for £6 a big bag (would have done 2 nights) and loved having a campfire. The spot was very sheltered and rural - not too windy, and it felt very peaceful putting the children to bed and being able to hear the occasional moo in the background. Lovely.
I can't comment further on the surrounding area due to not having left the campsite at all, but it seemed well placed to get to Wiltshire's attractions.
Bike hire was a steal at £1 a day or £3 for the duration of your stay. They also have ones with stabilisers on, and also scooters of all sizes, so even toddlers will find something to play with. Some good slopes for zooming down, as well! If I were to offer a tiny bit of constructive criticism (and it's difficult to) I might say that a few swings or something to climb on might be a useful addition to one of the spaces.
We really enjoyed the animal feeding, at 6pm and 9am, and the children were able to collect eggs, which you can buy for £1.25 a half dozen - very reasonable indeed. We even saw baby rabbits 2 days old, and a nest of tiny baby birds.
I will definitely be coming back here, it was a fantastic camping experience.

We love this campsite - very small, very friendly and in a beautiful setting with fields all around so a real peaceful get away from it all location. Alan and Sue are very friendly and Alan takes the children round to feed the animals in the morning and the evening and we have even had to leave Longleat early in order that the children didn't miss this! Surrounding area lovely for bike rides and bikes can be hired at the site which is a great idea. Site very well kept - facilities quite basic but more than adequate although we have never stayed there when very busy. Are returning again August bank holiday so no doubt will find out how they are when the site is busier then! We sampled a cream teas on our last visit and will be having another on our next visit - delicious! Our children (currently 6 and 7) love this site just as much as we do. And a real plus for us is that you can have an open fire - wood, etc needs to be purchased from Alan and Sue but is reasonably priced and well, well worth it in our opinion. Probably one of our favourite campsites.

This was our 3rd visit to this wonderful site.
Alan and Sue were as friendly as ever.
There were loads of baby animals for my sons to see. Baby chicks, blue tits, rabbits. They got to feed loads of animals and even bottle feed the baby sheep their milk, which was amazing.
Alan is so great with the kids, he spends loads of time talking to them about the animals and making sure they are not scared of them and it is lovely to see him putting a smile on all the children's faces.
The site was very clean and tidy and lovely and peaceful. On our first night it was just us there but the next 2 nights there were about half a dozen other tents/camper vans. Everyone was so considerate, by nine thirty the site was quiet and the only noise in the morning was from the birds doing their dawn chorus and the cows.
On our last day we arranged to have a cream tea. Sue made fresh scones, which we had on the terrace along with home made jams and clotted cream. It was really delicious and nicely finished off our break here.
These 3 nights were by special request of my eldest son Noah who was going to turn 6 whilst we were here. When asked what he wanted to do for his Birthday he asked to come back here.
I think that says it all really. Him and his brother are already asking when we will be going back to see Molly the pig and the other animals. (we will be returning in August with some more of our family)
Simply magical

We visited Midbrooks at the beginning of September, 4 adults, 1 child and 3 dogs. Great site and great owners. Local shop has everything you need and more. Site was clean tidy and well kept. Feeding time for the animals went down well with everyone(including the adults). The fridges and microwave are a great addition and a welcome surprise. The shower & toilet blocks are clean. There is plenty to do in the area, but just a note Stonehenge doesn't allow dogs, but longleat has a great day kennel block for dogs so you don't have to miss out on the safari and then the dogs are allowed on the ground(but not in any of the attractions). Our son had a bike for a couple of days, the site is perfect for children, dogs everyone really, we will be back. Loved it.
