Just back from 5 night at this wonderful site. The kids (age 10) loved it and would have stayed forever. Pitches are large, and though ours was on a slight slope, most are not. The slope was compensated for by our lovely neighbour, who woke us up in the morning with her gentle grunts! We were right next to Molly the pig and her 6 piglets. The children meet at 9am and 6pm every day to help feed and pet the animals with Alan the owner. We had to plan our days to ensure being back on time each evening! The site had 2 toilets and 2 showers and though there was sometimes a queue, everyone was happy to take their turn. There was a fridge and freezer to store essentials in, and freeze ice blocks, and a dish wash area. You could buy logs for a campfire for the evening and hire bikes extremely cheaply. We chose the site to visit Longleat which is 14 miles away. There are also lots of places to visit locally eg. Stonehenge. I thought the area around the site was beautiful with tiny villages with thatched houses reminding me of jigsaw puzzle pictures. I never knew such places actually existed. I'd recommend this site and wish it was not so far from home.

Despite poor weather we had a great time, the campsite has a real family run feel about it. The facilities are more than adequate and kept clean.
The site makes an excellent base to explore Wiltshire and the surrounding area.
The village of Steeple Ashton has a good general store and an excellent pub serving good food.
A great introduction for novice campers!

Just come back from Midbrooks. First time camping and could not asked for a better site. Toilet and showers clean and hot water. Pitches all marked and lovely and peaceful. Alan the owner was very friendly and sold logs for a camp fire at night and fresh eggs for breakfast. During our stay it remained sunny and dry and found it easy to go out and about Wltshire and over to Somerset. A good base for exploring. We really could of not asked for a better place to have our first camping holiday. The animals also were so friendly and Alan encouraged children to help feed the animals. A lovely part of the country, peaceful and a good base for exploring the county. We will definitely be paying another vist next year and recommending the site. But its such a good find not sure I want to share the peace and tranquillity of Midbrooks.

We agree with everything positive thats been said about here. Owners great, location great, shower not so great but we don't go camping to be obsessive about 'must have a daily shower'. Pitches were nicely laid out and level. So please don't "improve anything" and we'll be back.

Great site, had three nights here. Children loved it. I have a medium sized outfit and the pitches were great - plenty of room - although I found the entry road a tight squeeze (glad I didn't meet anyone coming the other way as it's a single track lane)! It rained whilst we were there and the entrance to the site soon became muddy - what a shame Alan can't lay a little hardcore here as it would make a big difference. Showers and toilet very clean. Had a fantastic meal in the local pub, well worth a visit.

Wow - we had a wonderful stay here on this beautiful campsite. Perfect for families and small groups. Feeding the animals twice a day gets the kids right in the heart of it. Lots of bikes to hire for the little ones is a great activity for them, just £2 for a duration. Facilities are great, simple but just what you need, clean with hot water. Pitches are well laid out and mostly flat which helps for a comfortable night! Nearby pub in Steeple Ashton has good pub grub, reasonably priced and very friendly, children were well accommodated and the garden has good quality play area. In fact, it's all so good we're going back in August!

First visit to this lovely campsite. Well looked after and clean site, with really friendly owners. The pitches are nicely set out, Mown grass on the pitch with the longer grass in between as your borders. This was our kids first camping experience (ages 3 and 7) and they loved it especially feeding the animals and collecting the eggs, and saving scraps to feed to Molly the pig. Getting to hold newborn chicks was a huge favourite. They also liked the treehouse too! Great campfires and lots of marshmallow toasting. Loads of places to visit nearby, lots of small villages with great local pubs, plenty of National trust places to go to - Lacock abbey and village is beautiful , Bath has everything history, shops, places to eat and decent parking! The church in Steeple Ashton is definitely worth a visit and the local shop has everything in it even a cafe! We will definitely be back to Midbrooks, a great time was had by all. Fantastic.

My family & I have had the most wonderful weekend at this peaceful campsite. The children aged 13 & 6 had a great time feeding the animals & exploring. My youngest learnt to ride a bike with the selection of bikes that Alan & Sue hired out. The amenities were spotlessly clean, it was friendly & so quiet. We had campfires, bar-b-ques, cream teas which were my favourite. The little village shop & pub were a short walk away & Longleat was only 20 mins away. We will definitely be back next year.

This is our second visit to Midbrooks, and every bit as good as our first. We were made very welcome by Alan and Sue, and the children got straight into bottle feeding the lambs, collecting eggs and gathering scraps for Molly the pig. The setting really is magical - an ideal place to bring bikes as the village is about a mile up a quiet lane. We had a campfire each night - logs can be purchased by the bag. Since last year a new toilet has been added, and the pitches are now clearly marked. We visited Bradford-on-Avon (very nice) and walked from there along the river to Avoncliff where we had lunch at the pub by the river. (Can't remember it's name, but it was a lovely setting.) Spent the rest of the time at the campsite, as it was hard to drag the kids away from the animals!

To put this review in context, we go as a family, two girls, 8 and 10 (at the time of this visit) and we like small, peaceful campsites, that allow fires, and don't mind basic facilities. Midbrooks was wonderful. The children wanted to visit Longleat, so this site was ideally situated, and Steeple Ashton's a lovely little place, well worth a stroll around. The kids loved being allowed to help feed the pigs, sheep and chickens. Alan and his little band of helpers would wander around every evening feeding the animals, and you could see all the children got a real buzz out of it. It feels so different from some of the large, purely commercial, sites we've had the misfortune to visit. It was quiet at night (except for one night when an army helicopter seemed to buzz just above our tent). The facilities were good - clean, with soap etc. Highly recommended
