 This has got to be the best Club Site we've ever been to. Set amongst mature woodland, the site is so tranquil and quiet.
The area is teeming with wildlife and a deer regularly visited our pitch.
The compost toilets were no bother at all. The warders were so friendly and helpful as well.
Thoroughly recommend this site and we have already booked to stay longer in August.

The site was idyllic wooded throughout, peaceful.
Facilities were plentiful, clean and environmentally friendly.
The staff were very obliging.
A pub within walking distance was a bonus.

Stayed in the Tent area (4 pitches) and enjoyed our time on this site. We regularly had the Deer visit us and left them to wander round us - they are wild so do not attempt to feed them. The Wardens were very friendly and we had some nice chats and found out the history of the site.
The Toilet and Shower blocks were always very clean. The composting toilets are a clever idea, but the actual toilet is lower than a standard toilet so anyone with mobility issues may struggle. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
The tent pitches are right next to the B road which can be noisy first thing in the morning with the empty tipper lorries from the quarry bouncing along it. You can also hear the Train hoots and the warning siren from Level Crossing at the Station too, but it is not too loud.
There are very few lights around the site, so ensure that you bring a torch to use - the roads are absolutely pitch black and you cannot see a thing, except the wonderful stars above you.
Lots to do in the area and Dorchester is not to far away.
A lovely site and we will definitely be returning.

Stayed here for 14 nights in August 2020 and loved the site, apart from one fairly large area,
The pitches are spread around the site in small clearings sheltered by mature trees, where they are well spaced out and generally level, water and waste points are located by the toilet blocks and at other handy points around the site.
Drive around the site slowly and quietly and you will be rewarded by glimpses of the Deer and other wildlife such as Foxes, Pheasants and an odd Badger that roam freely, but you must be aware that these are wild animals and must be treated with due respect and take heed of the many signs warning you to keep your distance, rabbits and birdlife are plentiful.
However as with everything else in life the site has it`s drawbacks, the B3390 runs down one side and a railway line along another, and there is infrequent noise from Heavy Tank movements, all bring varying levels of what can be considered intrusive noise, a fast train zipping past fifty metres away, is not quiet by any standard, personally I could ignore the noise, but other caravanners found it obtrusive, between these bursts of noise the site is generally tranquil and there is sufficient room for younger children to play.
These points are covered in the site write up in the club handbook, as are the Composting toilets, so personally I feel that visitors should be prepared to accept the situation.
The only issue I had with the toilets came when the Disabled Toilet was occupied, the standard toilets have a very low seating arrangement, as a mobility impaired person I found them very difficult, in fact almost impossible to use, other than this the toilets, just like the rest of the site, were kept spotlessly clean, the Covid 19 situation had brought new systems that had increased the cleaning regime, and also restricted the amount of facilities in use in the toilet blocks, but I never heard one complaint from anyone, it actually worked very well.
Overall the site had everything I needed or wanted for that matter, and I enjoyed my stay immensely, there is a local supermarket just down the road with just about all your daily needs on it`s shelves.
Weymouth is only 15-20 minutes away, and the site is a short drive from various local attractions such as Monkey World and the Tank Museum, be warned, if you visit Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum and a local Sculpture Lake with two adults and two children you will say goodbye to the thick end of £150, under the Covid 19 regulations Monkey World were only offering pre-booked, pre-paid timed visiting slots through their website, and only take away drinks were available, but there are very good picnic area`s provided inside.

Crossways is situated in a woodland forest location just after the level crossing at crossways train station.
It is a lovely site with wild deer and other smaller animals roaming freely.
The staff were very helpful and informative and willing to share the local knowledge.
I have to however mention a few negatives. Train noise, road noise. Quarry noise and occasionally British army tank noise.
The toilets are basically a modern version of a thunderbox. However I must say there were no adverse smells. I know I'm going on, but the showers were very poor in terms of water pressure. However they were very clean and well maintained. I heard that many caravanners were using there toilet and shower to get a decent shower.
I have found out that the caravan club lease this site, so have no control over sewer and drainage. So not blaming the wardens or the caravan club, but this site has the potential to be a gem if the shower and toilet facilities were upgraded. I'm sure an organisation like the caravan and motorhome club could liaise with the owners to make this site a better experience.

What a stunning site. The pictures do not do it justice. You can drive round and pick your pitch whether it be amongst others in a more open area or more secluded amongst the trees. The squirrels are in abundance and have fun throwing conkers at you, hard hat recommended.
We only saw the deer a couple of times but a lovely sight. Cannot fault the site, if you like wooded areas with lots of trees then this is for you. Also having the train station a stones throw away is ideal if you want to travel into Weymouth or jolly off to Bournemouth.
Don’t be put off by the compost toilets, they are perfectly fine. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Superb site, superb location, Dolly the Deer came round the site most mornings for a feed & pat/ cuddle - her herd mates watched from the sidelines. The trains whistled but assume it is to warn the deer off the tracks.
Visited Monkey World & Bovington Tank museum - both great days out. Be warned it is steepish descent on gravel & then 144 steps down to Durdle Door beach, Man o War beach steps have been washed away so poor descent on soil, both beaches are steeply shelving shingle.
As for the toilets no problems, no pongy odours, the system works on fans blowing/ drying -quite pleasant breeze on your bum whilst you are sat down. The only down side was the slightly poor signal from the site tv booster aerial - some tree cutting required around it I suspect

I must admit we were slightly apprehensive when we booked this site due to mixed reviews, however we had a lovely stay!
I can imagine if you were in a tent by the road it would be noisy so appreciate that issue, but we were in a caravan well away from the road so didn't hear that, or any quarry noise and the train beeping its horn was not an issue for us at all. Also the site didn't appear to attract groups so it was really quiet at night.
The loos are unusual but didn't smell, showers a bit lacking in power but it all adds to the getting back to nature woodland experience !
There is a pub within walking distance that does nice food and also a local shop for all requirements.
The wardens were friendly and helpful.
Location wise It's a good location for exploring Dorset, coffe castle, lull worth, studland bay all accessible.
Our only problem was we became waterlogged and had to move pitch, and it was all a bit wet underfoot!
Overall though a really unusual quiet site.

First visit to this site and first time in a tent for many years. As other reviewers have mentioned, the tent field is adjacent to a road which seems to be used by very many noisy vehicles, such as motorcycles and tractors. I wonder why the club have put the tents in this field, would it not have been better to use it for caravans and motorhomes and put the tents further away from the road? Suggests to me that the Club do not place tent campers at the top of their priorities. On the positive side, the site is split into several different areas which are well spaced ( another noisy vehicle !) and there is plentiful wildlife including deer. As a long term Club member I feel that the site would benefit from some upgrading as the toilet blocks seem somewhat shabby. (And another). I would also thought that it would be good to have a water supply in the tent field and not at the nearest toilet block. I would certainly not visit this site again if using a tent due to the level of noise from road traffic, not something I am used to. The noise would not be such a problem in a caravan or motorhome. Should also mention that I found it difficult to knock tent pegs in due to the stony ground. Electric hook ups are available for tents although my 15 metre cable barely reached the bollard. There is a well stocked Co-op shop nearby for supplies and a pub, which I didn't visit is also within walking distance. Wardens were polite and helpful.
