In the 20 years that we have been camping we have never had to queue for 30 minutes to get into a site like we had at Hawes.
There is a strict arrival policy at this site, coupled with a trial of choosing your own pitch on arrival, this sounds good but isn't in practice because everyone turns up bang on arrival to bag a good pitch, and because it's a big site you end up queuing for a long time. Then you feel the need to grab the first good pitch you see. For me this didn't work. Right rant over let me do the rest of the review.
This is a large site. Ideally situated for Hawes, 5 minute stole into the village. Lots of lovely shops and a cracking fish and chip shop (highly recommend it. You can get deep fired Wensleydale Cheese). There lots of great walks directly from the site. We did part of the Hawes Circular walk.
Facilities are good, lots of toilets and showers which are both clean and warm in winter. There's washing up and a laundry room, plus a small site shop with essentials.
Would we come again? Yes.

Close to the town and walks.
Great food shops and pubs within walking distance.
Hawes site the usual high standards, amenity block immaculate, pitches and surrounding areas well manicured.
Huge dog walk. Perfect site.

A well laid out, clean site with excellent facilities & good access to all pitches.
Friendly & efficient staff always ready to help.
There is a working farm adjacent to the bottom edge of the site but this was in no way obtrusive
We experienced very heavy rain for a day and a half but the site is well served with excellent land drainage and so it was not a problem.
The site is a 15 minutes walk from of Hawes village where there are many attractions including the very interesting Dales Country Museum and the Wensleydale Creamery.
It is also an excellent centre for covering the Dales which has a varied selection of places to see and things to do, also many excellent places for eating and shopping.
Excellent.

Wonderful location in the Yorkshire Dale's with an easy walk into Hawes, magnificent views from some pitches.
Spotless facilities block but have to agree with other comments about closing all toilets at the same time. Shame they can't leave the facilities door open to avoid you having to touch them but I assume they are worried about passing walkers using them.
Also found hand sanitisers empty at several of the service points. They appear to be not cutting the grass at the moment but the wildflowers did look pretty.
We were unlucky enough to be situated at the bottom of the site Close to the farm, very smelly at times and noisy with tractors when we arrived but it did get better.
Also the WiFi is advertised as Gold but we found it to be very slow and constantly dropping out. Moved onto River Breamish afterwards and so much better. Poor TV signal even on the bollard. All minor points but the difference between four and five stars. Shame as it's a stunning location.

A lovely quiet site and well laid out in 2 areas. We were on a little cul de sac for 4 caravans.
The site was level gravel. The wardens friendly and helpful. The site was clean and tidy.
The toilet block always clean and spotlessly tidy. About a 10 minute walk into the town centre with quite a few little independent shops.
A lovely chippy in Hawes.

We decided to give this site a try due to all the excellent reviews that we have heard about it on various review platforms. Lots of Facebook groups that I’m on vote this as their favourite site so we had to give it a go. To be honest I was exceptionally disappointed but to try to be fair I’ll give you the pros and cons of the site.
Pros
1. The location of the site is excellent, a short walk from the centre of Hawes village.
2. The site and toilet block and other facilities were kept immaculately clean and tidy.
3. The wardens were very friendly and helpful
4. If you like walking there are lots of fantastic walks in the area.
Cons
1. The majority of the pitches were very sloping from side to side which meant use of levelling ramps which we really dislike.
2. The smell on the site was absolutely awful. There is a farm next door so you get the standard farmyard smell which is only to be expected in the countryside, but the site is directly opposite a sewage treatment works and you get the dreadful smell from there as well.
As we were there for a week, we put our awning up but we were unable to use it because the smell outside would get into your clothes and your hair and you could taste it in the air. We weren’t even able to cook or eat in the awning because the smell was so vile it made you want to vomit rather than enjoy your meal.
Even on nice sunny days I couldn’t sit outside and we spent the vast majority of every day off site because we couldn’t stand the smell. The guy on the pitch beside us left early, telling us he was going home to get some fresh air!
I lived the first 35 years of my life in the country so I am used to farmyard smells but this was something else and almost unbearable. Maybe this was an anomaly and isn’t the norm, maybe we were just unlucky, but I would never go back

Caravan and Motorhome Club site. Fabulous site very clean and tidy. Lovely warm toilet block with hot water all the time. Fantastic large field for dog walking.
Easy walk into Hawes where there are many pubs, cafes and shops. Rope making factory is very interesting and you can buy several rope items and the National Park shop/displays etc at the old railway station just behind the rope making place.
A nice riverside walk to Hardraw and pub that serves meals. This is also the turnstile entrance to the magnificent Hardraw Falls. In Hawes, on the outskirts, is the Wensleydale Cheese factory and cafe and restaurant. You can go on a guided tour of the cheese factory - have to pay, sorry don’t know the charge but reasonable.
Lots of places to visit round and about eg castle Bolton, Aysgarth Falls, Richmond castle and to the west within easy distance of the Lakes.
