Very clean & tidy site. Good facilities. Very helpful wardens on site who helped us out when our caravan was not charging properly. Lovely area and on edge of village just a few minutes walk. Nice surrounding walks in the hills and many tourist attractions within fairly short driving distance. This is a fairly large site and although pitches well spaced compared to many it is not for those who want seclusion. However compared to many bigger sites it is well set out. Nice dog walk around the site which was worth walking for the view even without a dog!

Visited mid July in what turned out to be a very wet week. A popular site within a 5 minute walk of the village of Hawes. As you would expect, nothing to complain about with the site, very well maintained, nice location, lower part of the site quite sloping, but all hardstanding pitches.

Some upper pitches seemed quite small & a little cramped & you do need to watch driving around the front of reception as it can be tight with a large outfit.

In between the rain we walked to Hardraw & up to Great Shunner fell, a visit to the falls are a must after all the rain too.A lovely drive around Arkengarthdale & a meal at the Tan Hill pub with great scenery along the way.Walked from the site to Aysgill falls near Gayle, which was nice, & had a lovely meal at the Cross Keys Inn & a fantastic walk up to Cautley Spout waterfall.

Visited the Lakes to Fell Foot park & took in a cruise on Windermere to Bowness, about an Hour 15 mins journey by car from Hawes. Can recommend a meal at The Crown Hotel in Hawes too.

Driving around Swaledale & all the pretty villages in the area are a must, & despite the rain, we had a great time.

Very nice site, typical caravan club toilets and showers, spot on. Friendly staff. Great surrounding area, haven for walkers and nature lovers. Hawes great little town with good shops, great pubs, the fountain pub is a real ale drinkers delight.

Walked to hardraw, go to green dragon pub, very old pub but superb, nice pint of old peculiar, then pay 2 pound to go to waterfall, well worth the visit.

Only gripe tv reception very poor, other sites you can hire booster cable for few pound, but here you have to buy one £13.50, bit steep that. But overall great site.

We have just visited this site and were very impressed with the beautiful location, cleanliness of the site and friendliness of the wardens both in the shop and on the site whose hard work is obvious to see.

This is my first visit to this area and every way you turn you are surrounded by lovely countryside, walks and places of interest to see.

The site itself has a good dog walking area, very clean showers and washing up facilities and although busy was not overcrowded as each caravan seemed to have plenty of space between them, often separated by hedging.

I would definitely recommend this site and area.

We visited Brown Moor CC at Hawes for the third time within a year. What can I say changing seasons better weather a whole new aspect of enjoyment? As we drove to Hawes from Leyburn the hedgerows were just starting to bloom, daffodils were everywhere and the Lambs were plentiful in the fields. In Hawes is the Dales Countryside museum is worth a visit telling the story of the Dales people and landscape past and present.

On this visit, we went on a wonderful country drive visiting firstly Hardraw Force, just in the village of Hardraw accessible bizarrely enough via the local Green Dragon Inn. It’s about a five minute walk from the pub and well worth it.

We then drove over the Dale via Buttertubs pass and into Swaledale through the small village of Muker, shortly after leaving Muker we turned right again to come back into Wensleydale via Oxnop common toward Askrigg. The road here is steep at first with sharp switchback turns 25% gradient. So very steep. There are some wonderful views from the top and on the way some wonderful cliff formations. Before arriving at Askrigg we turned left and made our way to Bolton Castle for a quick visit, before heading south and visiting the wonderful Aysgarth Falls. There is a wonderful visitor centre here with I’m told magnificent ladies toilets. They sell Brymor Ice cream which is brilliant. (Can well recommend the Rum and Raisin) There is a lovely walk in the woods to get you to see the lower, middle and upper falls. Each are a little different all are a delight to the eye.

This is our second visit to Brown Moor. We were so impressed by our first visit (during the floods of 2008!) we came back again this year.

The site is immaculate. The Wardens are very friendly and helpful and have hung up small shovels around the dog walk to make it even easier to clean up after our dog. The dog walk skirts around a wild flower meadow that was full of flowers in June.

The toilets and shower block were spotless but you had to remember your key to get in. As it is a members only site this seems over kill to have them locked.

Hawes is only a few minutes walk and on the way you pass a farm shop on a small industrial estate that sells everything you could possibly want. In the town there is a good chippy that was very well used. Good food here but a little dearer than at home.

In the day time there is a very nice short walk across the fields to a pub in Hardraw that serves several real Ales and for the evenings there are two or three nice pubs in Hawes that also serve real Ales.

The Wensleydale creamery is in Hawes. Well worth a visit to watch the cheese being made, sample and buy. They have a good restaurant that is open for Sunday lunches

If you visit between May and June the fields at Muker are a must as the wild flowers have to be seen to be believed.

The village of Dent, just on the border with Cumbria is well worth a visit. Just like stepping back into the past with cobbled roads and an air of the 18th century. Much as all the places we visited a fine selection of real ales here, The Dent brewery tap is in the village and also the Sun inn.

Allow plenty of time for the portion of the journey from the A1 as after you turn off for Hawes the roads are very twisting and quite hilly.

Well what can I say apart from as described previously. Fantastic site, well maintained and beautiful surroundings.

Some of the pitches are tighter than others so if you have a large awning you need to consider where you pitch up but no major worries and levelling blocks are needed on lots of the hard standings.

Lots to do near the site and some great walks.

Hawes village itself is a little gem and all provisions catered for.

Stumbled upon Tan hill while we wre out at Aysgarth falls which is great. Tan hill pub is a must with its cosy coal fires and real ales, nice and friendly.

Cant wait to go back next year

P.S take your time getting to the site when towing as the roads around are very hilly, narrow (in some parts )and windy and enjoy the scenery.

This was our 2nd stay at Brown Moor. The site was completely full (in October) which says a lot - as usual for CC site it as very clean, and even though only 5 showers, never had to queue. Wardens were friendly & efficient.

Hawes itself is about 10 minute walk with lots of 'gift' type and outdoor clothes shops & I think 4 pubs - we had a nice meal in The Fountain.

The chippy was always full, and food looked great, but as we didn't eat there, I cant comment (one for next time !)

Looking forward to our next visit !

It looked like we would not be able to visit here, as it is not recommended to drive from the M6 in the CC handbook. I phoned the site and they were very helpful. The CC handbook is misleading.

Well it is easily accessible from the M6 and the route is very relaxing to drive, even when towing a large twin axle Swift Conqueror and we're very inexperienced caravanners. You MUST take M6 J36 - A65 via Kirkby Longsdale and Ingleton. Both towns are bypassed. Then B6255 to Hawes. The B6255 is a good road, with no restrictions and light traffic, better than some A roads in the area. The road via Sedburg should not be taken and has many tight bridges etc. The recommeded route does not look good on the map, but I assure you it is.

Arrived early pm. Friendly reception. Told to chose a pitch. It was friday and though fully booked, there were plenty of pitches to chose from at 12.30. We settled for pitch 9, with good views of the fells. We were concerned about noise (and smells)from the farm nearby, but apart from the occasional early morning cockerel, it was a superb pitch.

All pitches looked a good size and in good condition. All are hard standing and well drained and of a good size. A well maintained and laid out site. Small in comparison to some, but with everything you need. No super pitches though.

A well maintained and very clean toilet block. They have a key system to the toilet block, which I think is unnecessary and rather silly.

Dog walk is nice, with fine views across the fields.

Hawes is a few minutes walk away and there are plenty of shops and nice traditional pubs. The walk is well lit for an eveing pint/meal. Also a Wensleydale cheese factory where you can watch the cheese being made. Spar supermarket and plenty of small shops.

There is an easy walk (1.25 miles) to Hardraw, a pleasant village with a great country pub and waterfall in the back garden. Too dark at night to walk though.

This is a fine site for exploring the dales, being in the middle between the M6 and A1. Sedburg, Kirkby Longsdale, Ingleton, Middleham Castle, Easby Abbey, Richmond Castle etc, all within easy reach.

Do not be put off by the access issue from the M6, the site recommended route is easy to navigate. Call the site if you have any concerns.

We will return for sure.

An immaculate well maintained site. Pleasant greeting by the duty warden gave us all the relevant details then it was up to us to pick a pitch. Found a good flat level pitch. All here are hard standing. Only one well taken care of toilet block quite far from some pitch's. Dog walk and play room. Good information room with two pay phones. (Only O2 and Orange work here my vodafone certainly didn't but that's a bonus! Good views up to the fell.

Not far from Hawes town a nice ten minute walk. It surprised me with its old but good setting some nice quant shops. Some good pubs too especially if you like real beer.

Plenty to do around here far too much for a weekend so we will return.

We visited Middleham and Bolton castle. Close by is also Aysgarth falls and a wealth of walks. Can't wait to return.
