Spent 8 nights here at Easter and will definitely return. For the 2 years previous we had been to Rowntree Park in York at this time of year but due to problems with the CC website did not manage to get it booked this year so decided to go for a more relaxing location instead, and were not disappointed. Had stayed in Hawes previously but not with the Caravan so knew what to expect from the area and can only echo the comments about the town and surrounding area. For us the drive from Hawes to Harrogate via Kettlewell and from Hawes to Kirby Lonsdale is stunning. Even managed a trip over to the Lake District for a day during our stay and the scenery along the route alone makes the trip worthwhile.
Site is split in 2 areas divided by the entrance road and the views of the surrounding hills are breathtaking. Upon arrival you are routed around 2 planted areas to where you park to check in and this is very tight for longer units. As I found to the expense of an alloy wheel repair - and the warden who witnessed explained this happens regularly. Might be an idea to put up a sign and my suggestion would be to park in the late arrivals area and walk the extra 50 yards to reception. Great site though and up to the usual CC standards. Would definitely recommend.

This was our first visit to a CC site having previously stayed on C+CC ones and what a difference!
This site is immaculate – with big pitches that accommodate the car, awning and caravan. The views from the site are amazing and we watched the paragliders on the fell opposite.
For dog owners, there is a good dog walk that is very well kept and maintained. It is bordered by the traditional Dales fields with stone walls and barns.
We walked into Hawes and then up onto the Roman Road. Hawes has everything you need and there are some interesting shops to have a look round too.
The kids missed having a play park but the tarmac roads meant they could cycle round the site.
It felt a bit strange finding your own pitch after the regimented approach of the C+CC but the wardens told me which ones were free and would suit our needs, so it worked perfectly.
Of all the sites we have stayed on, Hawes is one of the best.
The only downside is that it is some way off the A1 or M6. They do recommend not travelling from the M6 and they were right – it is too narrow with a sharp left in Sedbergh. We went home via the A1 and this was much easier but take heed when you see the warning signs of the road narrowing – especially when you have the big coaches coming at you!

1st time we've used Brown Moor and as expected really, well maintained, excellent facilities and friendly staff.
Main thing to note is listen to the instructions for approaching the site from the west, what seems like the obvious road in would be a nightmare whilst towing, we used the recommended route on arrival and after heading across to Kendal for an afternoon were very glad we did!

Spent three nights on this site over Easter.
First time here however will not be the last.
Wardens friendly
Really nice site kept clean and tidy. It is a large site, however does not feel like it as the pitches are well spaced out and kids do not run wild!
Very near to Hawes town which has several small shops and pubs.Great fish and chip shop in town eat in or take out well worth a visit!
Lovely walks in the area.

We spent two nights at Brown Moor and were very pleased with it. It is a short walk away from the town of Hawes, which has lots of pubs and cafes, a couple of restaurants and several shops. There's also the Dales Museum which was popular but we did not visit.
The site is right on the Pennine Way, and it's and easy 3 mile round trip to follow this to Hadraw Village and the impressive Hadraw Force waterfall. There's lots of other opportunities for fell-walking and other outdoor activities. Within driving distance is Semer Water, a picturesque lake in an isolated location, as well as Aysgarth Falls, which are worth seeing.
The site's facilities are excellent and well maintained, despite the fact that the site is huge. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. Overall, an excellent site. Will visit again.

We have visited this site many times. Excellent facilities. Dog walk beautiful but can be very muddy after heavy rain, 5 min walk to Hawes village with shops to cater for most things. 4 pubs all serving food. Walks for all abilities from the site. Easy walk across the fields to Hardraw force. Extensive bus services from village. Market day Tuesday. The current wardens reduced the available toilets / showers from September 1st, even though the site was fairly full which resulted in queues for showers. Very friendly peaceful site. Thoroughly recommended.

The site is absolutely beautiful and the dog walk was perfect for our 3 collies - it took about 10 minutes to walk around it. The walk into Hawes was lovely - about a 5-10 minute walk. There was a market in Hawes on one of the days we were there and it was well worth a visit. The only place in Hawes to do any food shopping was Spar which closed early (about 6 or 7pm). We had a pub lunch which was really nice. There were just a couple of downsides to this holiday which wasn't anything the wardens could have controlled - there were lots of midges around, especially in the evening, the Spar closed early and the nearest supermarkets are around a 45 minute drive from the site. I would highly recommend a visit to the Green Dragon pub in Hardraw village, turn right out of the campsite and its about 5 minutes along that road, or you can walk to it. The pub has an amazing waterfall at the back of it - they charge a couple of pounds admittance fee, but it is well worth it. The Wensleydale Cheese Factory was good as well.
We will definitely be returning to this site but would take some repellent to deter the midges and will go food shopping before we leave home - other than that we had a fantastic time and felt very refreshed after our 5 day break!

Lovely site with excellent facilities. Wardens very friendly and helpful. It was great being able to walk into Hawes for shopping and pubs etc. Used the bus to go to Middleham where we lived for four years. This is such a lovely part of the country and well worth a visit if you have not been before.

What a fantastic site, this is our 2nd visit. Very quiet site and very close to Hawes town centre. Excellent butchers that sell sausage rolls to die for! Wensleydale cheese factory is well worth a visit and you cfan buy lots of different varieties of thier cheeses. Dog walk not very big and it was a bit muddy when we were there so gave that a miss. Plenty of pubs to sit in or out with or without dogs. What a lovely place. Will visit again in 2008.

We visited this site during the october holidays and had a very enjoyable 4 days. The town of Hawes has a good selection of shops, pubs ,hotels and takeaways. There are numerous walks around the area and plenty to see and do.
The site is immaculate as you would expect from C.C site and the wardens are very friendly and helpful
Will definitely be back
