Friendly and helpful owner of pleasant site with level hardstanding pitches with plenty of room. Very quiet. Great shower, though ladies only has one loo and then 3 "all in one" shower, loo and basin combos, but means lots of space (though shower curtain is still a bit clingy).
Village has 2 little shops, a pub or two and a nice looking cafe.
However site is virtually floodlit at night, which is not for me but may re-assure others, though the area is very rural and quiet.
And the local roads are not great. In particular the 20 or so miles to Hawick on the B6399 is in very poor repair, narrow and winding so anyone in a larger vehicle may find it very tricky.
The main A7 is much better and so on my second trip out I actually added a few miles but had a much better run going back south west to Canonbie and then up the A7 (I was going to Tweedbank to get the train to Edinburgh, which is really convenient, cheap and has a huge free car park)

A very well run camping site - probably one of the most comfortable sites we have stayed on in the last 10 years.
Individual bathroom facilities excellent; warm and clean.
Site ideally placed for exploring the wonderful surrounding area and its history.
A very short walk into the village with adequate stores, pubs and a lovely café plus a regular bus service into Carlisle.

We enjoyed our few days here. As others have said, a well tended site with wide pitches. 3 ladies washrooms on our visit, not 4 (staff only in the 4th one) but never a queue; closed 11-1 for cleaning.
Ideal for the 7Stanes bike circuits, there’s a bike/dog wash. Good dog walk along the former railway line from the north end of the site. We were shaded by tall trees by late afternoon, and backed onto a terrace of new houses, so views out were limited.
I think the rooks referred to in a previous review are actually jackdaws, but the hundreds of birds coming back to roost at dusk were indeed impressive, and very noisy.
3G mobile signal, it would have been nice to have Wi-Fi included in the £31pn, but the awning was free.
Enough local shops to provide the essentials, including a butcher making their own sausages etc. Cracking views of the pretty scenery & as far as the Lakeland Fells from up on the golf course; you can pay to play (a bargain £12. 50), at one of the tea rooms in town.
Buses are rare. The B road from Hawick is single track in places, with unsighted tight bends, so it’s a slow cautious drive. I wouldn’t take a big vehicle or caravan on the C road over to Langholm: it’s single track with few passing places & some very narrow bridges; great to cycle or car drive though, look out for the beautiful Hugh MacDiarmid monument.

Very pretty and well laid out grassy site with hardstanding, ponds and views of lovely hillsides and woods.
Amazing rookery in nearest ridge of trees, and get a rook "murmuration" in evening.
Town pretty good, with small general stores supplying everything!
Plus 2 hotel/pubs for evening meals, lovely river walks and moorland walks to dramatic Blackburn Falls.
The drive down Liddesdale to here is superb too.

The campsite sits right in the village, a couple of minutes walk to a large Spar, 2 pubs and 3 cafes. From the site good walks along the old railway line or down to the loch over and onto the 7Stanes cycle and walkways. There are 4 walkways and 2 cycle paths listed from the village which lead into other routes.
Campsite facilities are very clean and well kept. Ladies have 4 x combined shower/ toilet cubicles and one single toilet. Showers are excellent with good pressure, hot water and no dreaded push buttons.
Site is beautifully manicured, almost park like, we were told on a couple of occasions not to drive, put awnings or the legs of our canopy or possessions on the grass. It was wet so guess it's to keep it in pristine condition.
Internet was nearly non existent, we purchased access to site WiFi. It cost £5 for 48 hours and was excellent signal.
Pitches are a good size on gravel all with ehu. It's a very peaceful site, plenty to see and do in the area - we loved Hermitage castle and Langholm. The drive over the Langholm Moors is absolutely spectacular.

What a beautiful, beautiful site. Got to be up there with one if our most favourite sites we have ever stayed at. Grounds totally immaculate, a credit to the team!
Toilets and showers amazing, huge cubicles with a shower (not push button, YAY!), toilet and sink all in the one cubicle.
Pitches are completely glorious! Spacious, extremely well serviced and well drained.
Friendly and helpful site owners and staff, nothing too much bother for them.
Newcastleton is small (and remote, so come prepared) but there is a well stocked Spar, Costcutters, butchers, ironmongers, a couple of cafes and 2 hotels and a pub.
Fantastic safe, off lead dog walks direct from the site, and a gentle 5 min stroll further down the village.
Just THE most perfect location for a relaxing week. We have loved it and hope to return.
Phone signal can be weak depending on your network, but WiFi available for a very reasonable charge (we paid £10 for 7 nights, as many devices as you wanted).
10/10 For everything - some sites need to take a look at this one to see how it should be done. Thank you Lidalia, you should be so proud of your site, its beautiful 😍
We even enjoyed daily visits from the very friendly resident puss 🐱
