Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic! A truly superb site. Beautifully lanscaped, Level pitches (some serviced) surrounding duck ponds with I must say the best toilet/shower facilities I have ever had the pleasure to use - spotless at all times. The site is a credit to Eddie & Shona who themselves are very friendly and helpful and work tirelessly to ensure a top class site. The site is within the village of Newcastleton and again we were warmly welcomed by all local residents and never felt like strangers! Local shops/pubs/hotels are a mere 2 minute walk from the site - all dog friendly which for us was a huge bonus! Also, plenty of dog walks in local and surrounding areas. An excellent location for outdoor activities such as cycling, canoeing, fishing and walking. We will definitely be using this site again and would not hesitate in recommending. Well worth a visit!

Perhaps I shouldn't be writing this review ;since I have been visiting Lidalia since 1996 I might be a little biased. This is my personal benchmark for all other sites I have visited and I cannot fault it. Newcastleton, or Copshaw Holm is one of the most friendly villages in the universe and the owner is a well loved and popular local character. He runs Lidalia with his daughter and the family is often to be seen. The site, situated on what was the goods yard of the past railway is kept in an impeccable fashion. The new, highly modern toilet blocks are kept spotlessly clean and hygienic by a fastidious them. They will bend over backwards to assist anyone staying on the site and are lovely people.
The site is peaceful and perfect for those with dogs. It is very child friendly in my opinion. The New Year/Hogmany celebrations hosted by the owner for the campsite and village community is worth a review in itself. There are 2 popular cafes the bars. The Grapes Hotel has links to Lidalia and a visit to Newcastleton cannot be complete without going into The Grapes for at least a drink. The town of Hawick is not exactly a buzzing metropolis but I love to visit. There are basic shops and a few cafes and bars for those who require them. Personally, I prefer to treat a 'run up to Eddie's' as a kind of relaxing retreat or stroll by the river Lidd to skim stones. Book early, everyone loves Lidalia. Not a place for those who want to tread the light fantastic apart from during the Traditional Music Festival, first weekend in July.

One of my favourite sites and we visit at least 4 times a year
Lovely lay out and not too big.
Generous pitches
(Top Tip No 36 overlooking the pond is fully serviced and my favourite)
Some fully serviced and only £1 extra a night
Some have TV hook up but digital TV is available using an ariel.
Lots of water and waste points.
Great dog walks. 1 in the middle and 1 at the end of the site.
Great walks all round 5 mins to the riverside.
Fantastic new ladies toilet block opened 2011 with 3 wet rooms that include a wash basin and toilet and a separate toilet only room as well
Underfloor heating means its always toasty hot
The old ladies/gents toilet block has now been totally refitted and opened in time for New Year 2011-2012. Again with all inclusive wet rooms, separate toilet only rooms and urinals
Totally disabled friendly
Hats off to Shona who keeps the place pristine
The site itself is immaculately kept Eddie and Shona work hard and always make you feel so welcome. Nothing is ever a bother.
Very reasonable priced
Right in the heart of the village
Wi-Fi available at cost
Open all year
There's usually an organised function on Hogmany for any who wish to attend
5 mins to the 2 hotels and about 7 mins to the pub where there's always a warm welcome from the locals
Bar prices are reasonable and food of a good -quality is reasonably priced in the hotels. Cheaper available in the pub along the road.
(They all do take away too)
All establishments are dog friendly
Free Wi-Fi in both hotels
5 mins to a great butchers (You must try Elliot's sausages), the shop, bakers, iron mongers
Totally flat on site and in the village.
25 mins from Hawick. Where you will find the bigger shops Etc.
Cons :
I struggle with this but must be objective
No children's facilities on site
No petrol garage in the village the nearest is 8 miles away in Langholm. Where you'll find a big Co-op too
I loath to post this review in case you all flock there and I can't get booked. No seriously I recommend this site 100%

Really nice site, very friendly, clean and well maintained.
The shower blocks are absolutely superb and comprise of your own large cubicle.
Newcastleton is nice for a meal out in the evening with the Grapes being our favourite, fantastic food and big portions !
Good area for mountain biking as plenty of trails in the area. If in Hawick visit the little museum in the park as they have a TT riders section. Great

This is definitely a 5 star site and a credit to the owners hard work and imagination. Immaculate grounds, all hard standing. A friendly, helpful chap whose good humour must transmit to his campers as everyone we met was friendly and seemed very happy with their visit to the site. The ladies showers are incredible, being 4 individual wet rooms with lots of hot water. We were honoured to watch the resident red squirrel feeding on 2 occasions. The local hotels, in easy walking distance, both sold a decent pint and catered for the dogs with water bowl and dog biscuits. Plenty of shops and a very well stocked butcher, excellent black pudding.

This was our second visit to this site, the first having been in the snow at New Year and once again we were amazed by the friendliness of the villagers and the site owners - nothing appears too much trouble for anybody.
Eddie & his daughter Shona work tirelessly to ensure that the site and facilities are kept immaculate yet they always have time for a chat and a laugh.
The site is situated at one end of the village and is well laid out with flowers, shrubs and a couple of unfenced ponds. All pitches are hard standing but they do vary in size. We have always had a pitch allocated when we arrive but this is something we don't mind - I know some people prefer to have a choice.
The much needed new toilet and shower facilities were in the process of being built whilst we were there and it shouldn't be long before they are in use. The laundry facilities are the best and cheapest that I have come across in our travels.
Newcastleton has got to be the friendliest place we have visited. It has several shops including a small general store, butchers, post office, bank and hardware shop - sorry, if I've missed anyone out. There is a pub, British Legion and two hotels. We can recommend the food in the Grapes but are unable to comment on the other eating places as we haven't visited them yet. There is a bus service to Hawick and Carlisle. There is plenty of walking in the area and you can purchase a booklet locally describing some of the routes.
My only disappointment is that I haven't spotted a red squirrel yet - I guess we will have to return to this site again.

We used this for an overnight stop on our way back form Scotland.
Lovely site in a nice location.Friendly helpful welcome. The pitch was allocated on arrival only down side being next to the unfenced pond so plenty of midges late evening and the next morning.
Info room on site with tourist info.
Motorhome service point on site.
The new toilet block is still under construction and is hoped to be completed by the end of 2010 (according to info sheet).
The site has direct access to a wood with a public footpath running the whole length of it, well signposted and leads back into village.
The Grapes Inn is dog friendly and sits in Douglas Square in the middle of the village, 5 mins from site.
Although there are 2 garages in the village there is no fuel - nearest fuel is Langholm 15 miles and Longtown 10 miles.
Seems to be a site that is popular with 'regulars', being sited on the lower pitches that have direct tv plug in. Tourers seem to be sited on pitches near to pond/right hand side of site with no tv plug in access.
Overall nice site, nice area.

The weather was fab, site was so peaceful, wonderful walks by the river. 2 good pubs, dog friendly, within minutes: The Grapes serves very good food, try the meat salad.
Eddie and daughter Shona very helpful. Site immaculate, will be even better when new toilet block finished. The only downfall were the midges, but Scotland is known for these. We will be back soon.

Beautiful site on edge of lovely village. However, the toilet block, although always very clean was not of the usual Caravan Club standard; small and past it's best. No choice of pitch meant we didn't get the one of the better ones and some are rather close together.
I can highly recommend The Grapes; great food and atmosphere (thanks Adam!), and they have Wi-Fi access - no mobile broadband or phone signal on site (apparently only Orange works in the village.

This is a nice quiet site with friendly owners. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed it. There's a lovely village with a nice river walk around it.
The toilet/shower facilities are small and basic but sufficient. We have 2 energetic 8 year olds and must admit to feeling paranoid about them making any noise so were constantly telling them to be quiet.
There are loads of birds and plenty pheasants walking around, we were lucky to get a lovely pitch overlooking woodland and even got to see Daddy pheasant walking his young in the evening.
There's a pond on site so people with toddlers should be aware.
