This site is a gem. We had booked for two nights and stayed an extra night.
Situated in a village close to shops and pubs. Once here you don't really need your car. We used the Grapes Hotel in the evenings as they do an early bird menu until 6. 30 so for our three night stay we ate out every evening. On the way back to the site we called in at the bowling club and were made to feel really welcome.
The warden Eddie is a character and never seems to stop. I would highly recommend this site.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of June, would have liked to have stayed longer however site was fully booked. This site has touring and seasonal pitches and the touring pitch had plenty room for car, caravan and awning. The site is very well maintained and beautifully landscaped and the shower blocks are very clean and well looked after.
There is a small summerhouse with plenty leaflets and information. This site is a good base for exploring the Borders and we will certainly return for hopefully a longer spell.

Our stay at Lidalia started on Wednesday with a howling gale blowing most of the night. In the morning the awning at the next caravan had collapsed. My husband mentioned this to them who said they would fix it later.
The site has some red squirrels and the wardens have a feed box fixed to a tree for them. Unfortunately we didn't see any. The three resident ducks are comical as they follow each other around the site. There are two ponds for them. It's a haven for wildlife. We saw rabbits, a heron and numerous birds at the feeders. While we were there. The crows nesting in some of the trees were very noisy. I think we would pick a pitch in a different area the next time we go.
The toilet block is out of this world. The ladies block looks very new. It is so warm as you enter the building. You could think you were in a 5* hotel. They clean the toilet blocks 3 times a day. They are spotless.
The village is really nice. The Grapes Hotel has a great early evening menu at very reasonable prices. The food is excellent. There is a butchers shop which we were told sells excellent pies etc all of which are home made.
We will definitely be returning.

Despite the extremely cold and snowy conditions this site can only be described as a 'gem'. The pitches are hardstanding and huge. The toilet facilities are second to none. The showers consist of a wet room with WC and basin and acres of space. They are also heated. The site is in a very rural but lovely position with numerous walks from the site. There are two hotels close by that serve excellent food (The Grapes is dog friendly). There are also two good cafes and a very good butchers in the village. The village has a bank, post office and other shops.
The site is run by the owners (father and daughter) who lean over backwards to assist.
Most of the pitches are 16A but there are a few @ 10A. TV hook ups are also on most pitches.

Excellent site clean and well run, only criticism I had was that gents toilet block was rather cold. Heating wasn't on until our last day but other than that great a site. Lots to see and do, and Seven Staines mountain bike trail is only a couple of miles from site. The site is a bit remote but Carlisle is only 21 miles away and has great shopping. Vindolanda site on Hadrians wall is worth a visit as is Solway aviation museum at Carlisle airport.

Just returned from newcastleton. The site was very well kept and Eddie and Shona were always on hand to help with any problems. The pitch sizes are very generous and plenty of room for both awning and car.
The ladies toilet block, which is new was spotless and this is the first time I`ve been in a shower which has toilet and wash hand basin altogether this was very good and the whole block was beautiful.
Our only gripe would be the village is quite far from most supermarkets and petrol stations. The hardware store in the village was very good they sold most things and the owner was very helpful, we bought a booster cable for the tv which gave us an excellent picture the site has booster points on most of the pitches.
All in all we had a great holiday but very mixed weather

If you want a caravan park neat and tidy and well run and ever so peaceful with village with shops and pubs and countryside to die for this is it. Area is stunning plenty walks from site.
Site itself is not that big but it is perfect for chill out break and very well looked after
The owners do a great job showers are well updated and spotless site also has 3 resident ducks who are well looked after.
Village has spar butcher post office hardware and newsagent 2 cafes and 3 pubs so plenty of places to spend your cash. Hawick is a nice drive about 20 miles and a nice town. But best of all is the peace and quiet. I will return great site.

This is a lovely site, with friendly and very helpful owners. The site is partly landscaped and seems to be constantly maintained - weed-spraying and wall-painting were in progress while I was there.
Toilets are immaculate and the shower rooms (cubicles seems too small a word!) are probably the best I've seen.
There are plenty of water points. Pitches are a good size and all have power; some have TV aerial hook-up. One end of the site feels a little more private than the other (although the crows in the trees behind can make a bit of a racket, and there is currently a building site on one side), but the other end has a more open outlook.
There is a little summer-house with lots of leaflets and other information about things to see and do in and around Newcastleton, and reception has books on walking in the area and reference maps.
No shop on-site (but fresh eggs for sale) but there are shops in the village, including a Costcutter, a newsagent / grocer and a hardware shop, within 5-10 minutes walk. There are also a few places to eat and drink, including the two hotels and the pub. The Grapes Hotel currently has an 'early bird' evening menu. As others have said, the locals are all very friendly.
I did feel a little out of place here, since absolutely everyone else had, as far as I could determine, a minimum of one dog, but these were never a nuisance in any way.
I really enjoyed my short stay at this site and hope to return soon.

Our first time at this lovely site and proof what a useful asset UKCampsite.co.uk reviews are, as majority comments of others are borne out as 100% correct.
No point in us repeating what others have said/say about the site; immaculate, well maintained, great wardens, and even the comment (repeated several time) that the locals are most friendly ever. All true in abundance.
Not too much to do in Newcastleton unless you are into walking or mountain biking, for us mountain biking was the main reason for the visit, hence had a great time and we will return.

First time visitors. Very clean site and excellent facilities. Be careful not to drive on the grass when manoeuvring caravan as the manager is not a happy chappie about it.
Also read the instructions about the gate too Ha ha.
We had a brilliant time and weather was great. The villagers are so friendly and helpful.
Its worth a trip to eskdalemuir to visit the tibetan centre. Beautiful place and an experience to try.
I went with adult party but if I had children to take, the ducks are good but no play area.
