WOW. I went here with partner, 14 yr old lad and a dog and was not disappointed.

What a site. This site is located in the most amazing setting.

The site benefits from 360 degree views of the moors. And is an excellent base for those who enjoy walking as many routes start and end at the site

It is not for someone who wants commercialised sites with playgrounds and clubhouses, but if you are looking for a quiet site this is the place for you!

There is nothing on site except an exceptional toilet and shower block which has music piped into it and is always clean and tidy. Showers are 50p each which gives you more than enough time to do what you need to.

This suits us perfectly.

The site is well laid out with a grassed area and a few hardstanding slabbed pitches all with electric, which was a great help to us as we went the wknd after it had rained for a month!

The owners are extremely friendly and even came to speak to us in person to see if we had any ideas of what campers may require on site as they are looking to add facilities such as a laundry.

The owners had thought about the well being and comfort of their campers as they had refrained from cutting the grass due to the bad weather so that grass was not trampled into peoples tents, campers etc.

The laid back and friendly attitude is very welcoming, always willing to help and give change for the shower. They also allowed us to set up before we paid.

They accept D of E groups which did not bother us at all, in fact it is a pleasure to see. They arrived approx 10 am and left shortly after, they returned as we returned from our walk at approx 5pm and were quiet by 10pm and gone by 8am the next morning. So although the large amount of tents may be daunting to some, there is no need to worry as the peacefulness is not effected.

There is a pub only a mile ish away Jarvis Arms but only opens after 6pm and does food until 9 pm.

All in all this is a great site, with great owners in a great location with great facilities and I will be returning again.

Been two or three times to this site.

Owners very friendly & welcoming.

New shower block & toilets with piped music.

Very enjoyable stay even though the weather was not as we had hoped.

Will definitely use this site again for locality, cleanliness & friendliness.

Local pub (Jervis Arms ) good food & beer - about 20 minute walk downhill - bit longer coming back.

Plenty of good walks in surrounding area - short walk over the hills to Butterton and good walk to pub at waterfell?

We got back from here last night what a wonderful end to a trip. Fantastic campsite and fantastic owners, new shower blocks had been installed and it Is perfect. Great views cute lambs, great fresh duck eggs on sale. We got snowed( yes in April! ) in overnight and had a bit of a shock when we woke up to a blizzard! However it was a lovely rest day for us even made a snowman when the wind calmed down then a tractor cleared the drive when the blizzard stopped which the kids loved! Boys can't wait to go back and see farmer dave! We will be back!

This was the first camping trip for our 5mth old puppy. Exactly what we needed from a campsite, plus lots of space.

The showers gave me ample time for one 20 pence piece.

Pleasant views, nice relaxing site without all the paraphernalia that comes with a lot of sites now (ie music in the toilet blocks & a bar etc).

We walked to The Jervis Arms, this took about 20mins with a slow puppy, nice pub, good beer, friendly locals, lovely garden for playing in.

I can't comment on the shelter, or lack of, as the weather was very good.

We will definitely make a return trip.

Loved the location owners very friendly

Nice walk across fields to the Jervis Arms great food and ale, site being updated will return as

This could be a top site when all work is completed, found grass a little long and when cut it seemed to stick to your boots and end up in the van, this may sound a bit petty as everything else was spot on.

Views are magnificent, cant wait till the new shower blocks are up and running, owner says they are nearly finished, easy to find site well signed posted.

Stayed here over a bank holiday weekend as most of the other nearby campsites were full. Unfortunately, the weather was against us, and it was a little wet and windy in the evenings.

As other reviewers have commented, there is almost no shelter on the site, and so the wind was pretty strong. We managed to give ourselves a little respite by parking our car upwind of our tent, and using a guy-roped beach windbreak (essential if you want your stove to stay alight!). Rows of trees have been planted - which will improve the shelter (and privacy) of the site in future, but these won't be mature for a good few years.

The shower block is currently a little basic, but clean. The lights are are a sensor though, so if you shower in the evening, be aware that the lights may go out (as I discovered!) - rectified by a quick dash out of the shower to re-activate the sensor. The showers are hot, but take 20ps, which don't last that long, so get ready first before turning it on!

The campsite owners are very friendly and relaxed - we arrived just before dark and so pitched our tent straight away, only bothering to check in and pay the following morning (which caused no problems).

Leek is only a short 20 min drive away, and the campsite is right in the Peak District with plenty to explore nearby.

Overall this isn't the best campsite around (from a facilities & exposure point of view), but is certainly one of the cheapest, and probably also one of the quietest (there weren't many around even on our bank holiday weekend). It seems to be used by many people who are visiting Alton Towers, as well as Duke of Edinburgh trips.

Electric pick ups (for caravans and tents) are available, but we didn't make use of them.

Please note that before I begin my review you must understand that this is a relatively new camp/caravanning site.

The camping area is well maintained and grass cut short, the ground is almost flat for good positioning of tents, caravan places are fully slabbed for stability and full electrics are available.

This site is situated high in the peak district of Staffordshire with breath taking panoramic views. The site is very clean and well maintained the owners are as polite helpful friendly as you would expect and are always there to offer help advice. The site is well worth the value. Hot and cold running water with shower facilities (20p)for so many minutes) cold water taps around the park too.

Close to Leek market town and about 12 miles from Alton Towers and various other attractions all within a 20 min drive. To be honest if youu are planning a trip to Alton Towers and are looking for a quiet friendly camp site this is for you. Will definitely put this on my places to return to

There are indeed great views from the site but this comes at a price when the wind blows. When it blows, it blows. The large, open camping field certainly lets people spread out but bar one row of trees, there’s little shelter to be found.

The weather forecast for Leek for the weekend we stayed suggested wind speeds of around 15mph – I think we had all of that, if not more. I can sleep through most things but several times over the two nights I would wake up and spend a few minutes listening to the tent being well tested. I was half waiting for a crack as a pole lost the fight but we survived the weekend with no damage – keep those guy lines nice and tight!

There’s no pot washing facilities, so don’t forget your bowl and the Fairy. The current shower / toilet blocks were reasonably basic but very clean (remember the 20p coins for the showers).

There was some building work being finished near the field but I don’t know if this is the new shower block mentioned by other reviewers. The site seemed well run in general.

I hope the above doesn’t sound too negative – we would return, we’d just want to be sure there was minimal wind forecast!

We have had a great weekend on this campsite. Views are incredible. The owners very very friendly, helpful and relaxed. Lots of space. New toilet and shower block being built which will make the site perfect. Lots of animals and although a 20 minute walk to the nearest pub, the countryside is so beautiful and the back to nature feeling rare to find! There are hook-ups for tents as well as tourers.Plenty of standpipes close at hand for water. The whole atmosphere was of lots of different groups of people really enjoying the fabulous weather and campsite.

Three night stay and no complaints. Nice level field - owners very helpful. Great views - rolling agricultural land one side, Southern Peak district on the other. Wake up to sound of sheep and sight of swallows swooping over the lake.

Clean toilets and hot showers. Highly recommended - cheap as chips.

Handy for Thor's Cave and the Roaches for excellent walks. And if it rains, then Ashbourne, Leek and even Stoke are not too far away. And don't miss Cheadle and St Giles Church - Pugin's breath-taking masterpiece.
