Wow! We've just returned from a weekend at Sheldon House Farm and this really is a hidden gem. The weekend was the best weather this summer, during school holidays and there were only a handful of tents in a very large field. The views from the field were fantastic, and you could see for miles as there were no tents in the way! The farm is easy to find, well signposted from the road. The new shower / toilet block is excellent except for the need to collect 20p's. I can vouch for the fact that they are carefully cleaned everyday. The site is very dog friendly. It is in easy reach (via car) to the Manifold Valley and Leek. I've saved the most glowing comments til last, the owners; you truly feel you are their guests, the farmer checked in with us to ensure we had everything we needed and that we were having a good time (not to collect money, but to have a chat!). It was so relaxed and informal it really added to an already fantastic experience.

I stayed at sheldon farm for two nights and had the best weather all month. The camp site was brilliant there were three water taps on the field where we put the tent. The showers on the camp were lovely and clean and very hot and the toilets were clean . The owner of the site was very helpful and friendly and came round to see if there was any problems or if we needed any thing twice a day . The views were spectacular from the camp and made a good base for visiting the local area definitely going back there.

Not sure if I want people to know about this campsite - want to keep this site to my self.
Just returned from a night at Sheldon House Farm. The owners are both lovely people - very helpful - our tent broke trying to put it up in the wind and rain so the owners offered us the use of a holiday cottage that they had at a reduced price - we were more than grateful.
The owners told us about walks to go on; places to eat and places to go - Bakewell is a lovely little town as are the surrounding villages. The views from the campsite are spectacular
My boyfriend and I will definitely be returning to this campsite but with a stronger tent.

Stayed here for just one night on a trip through the area.
Had read other reviews saying the site was in a nice spot and the owners were friendly so I thought it would be the right place for us. I have to say the previous reviews were correct. The owners pretty much left everybody alone but were very pleasant when needed. The surrounding countryside is outstanding and well worth exploring.
Please make sure you take plenty of warm clothing as it is very exposed but that's the price you pay to enjoy the position of the site. (Sitting on the brow of 2 beautiful valleys with views from anywhere in the site)

Came here on recommendation from a colleague. Used many sites in the Peak District as I take groups of young people camping with the Duke of Edniburgh's Award.
This site is absolutely fantastic and still being developed! it can only get better and better.
Dave and Sandra Bullock are very friendly and helpful and will always spend time with the guests on the site.
Its a safe site, child/young people friendly and dog friendly. They have dogs themselves who are also friendly with campers (one quite happily joined us for tea!)
Toilet block was clean as were the showers.
No washing up facilities but our young people managed by their tents.
I can imagine that if there was a lot of rain, the ground could get waterlogged and tricky to get out, but the owners are sorting out drainage on the site.
The owners are also looking to build an indoor area for training, first aid facilities, and office, and emergency shelter. Good Luck with that!
Will be returning in 2008 definitely. Worth it for the chat with Sandra and Dave!

Stayed at the first bank holiday of May. Large pitches. Got a bit boggy when it rained we were glad we were in 4x4. Some people weren't so lucky and had to be towed off by the owners tractor!Drainage system still being set up.
Very friendly staff, great views, very relaxed. Everything being built in and around the old barns.
Site is still being set up, no washing up facilities but shower and toilet block are done and clean and tidy.
When fully complete will be an absolute gem - will ahve to make sure we visit when it is.

I had yet to find a campsite that had the views, the freedom for the kids and the dogs and also the friendly owners. Too much to ask I thought then I found dave and cynthia. The site is fantastic with amenities that are fantastic, the owners can't do enough for you and well the fact that I feel safe allowing my kids to play in the fields is a relief in itself. I personally have no complaints because its my ideal place. There is a local pub in onecote and if you have a car about 15mins away from shops.

We have just returned from this fantastic site in the last bank holiday of May.
It could not have been better. The Site is really roomy, plenty of space between each tent, very good price and the views across the Staffordshire countryside are fabulous!
Toilet blocks are kept spotlessly clean, and the showers nice and hot and very spacious, which makes a change as most sites are tiny and cold! (and only 20p)
Do take along a washing up bowl as there are no washing up facilities.
The local pub, The Jarvis Arms is about a mile and a half away in Onecote, which serves good food at a descent price.
The owners, Mr & Mrs Bullock I must say are the nicest site owners I have ever met. So pleasant and welcoming and very helpful even when I woke Mr Bullock up on Sunday morning to help me with the Shower! Thanks again for that!
I can't wait to go back! A must for everyone!

Nice site, and Mr Bullock is very friendly & helpful. Very dog friendly which is brilliant, beautiful views as your right on top of the hills.
Nearest pub is about 1 mile down hill but steep hill walk back !Lovely pub right on a stream with nice beer garden. Unfortunately the pub is not open all day so if you walk all the way down you may have to walk all the way back without having a shandy !check the opening times. The site is v.Nice, good shower/toilet facilities v.Clean. Pitches well spaced out. Only neg re the facilities is no where to wash your pots but I can put up with not washing up for a couple of days.
The lack of shelter was a big problem, & the wind did spoil our stay a little. We came home a day early as it was getting v.Uncomfortable in the high winds.
The area is stunning. Recommend the site if forecasat is wind free !

We booked this site as we had planned a weekend at Alton towers which is only 15mins away from this site! We had a fantastic weekend here. Upon our arrival we couldn't find anyone to start with and had the problem that the only electric hookup was mainly for caravans with a hardstanding area. I was never going to get my large tent on this site. We had two other large tents in the group and at first thought the weekend was doomed as it started to rain! When the farmer turned up we had a long discussion about where to pitch as there would be others turning up on the Saturday with us and we didnt want to disturb anyone! The farmer couldnt be more helpful and was so apologetic about not being able to give us EHU. He put us down in his bottom field away from others and was very concerned we didnt let the children near the pond. The scenery around this site is second to none. The toilets and showers were spotless although take lots of 20ps as the hot water goes off quite quickly. What made this weekend so nice was that the farmer allowed us to enjoy our weekend without interference, we had 17 of us in 3 tents (adults and children) and he had no problem. We were happy as we didnt disturb anyone else, by being down in the bottom field on our own. On one afternoon he took the kids for a ride on his quad bike (which they thought was better than anything at Alton Towers!) He came and got them all to help him feed the fish! He told my friend off as she had gone and bought a duvet as she had been cold the previous night and he told her she should of gone to the house and asked for one! This is THE MOST FRIENDLY site I have ever stayed on! The owner is obviously working as hard as he can to make this is a great site. It is pretty basic toilets and showers only but hey we go camping what more do we need! Will I go back? Without question!
