We spent a wonderful week at this new campsite. We had only planned to stay a day or two but the location and views were amazing!

The facilities for such a remote site were excellent. Spotlessly clean and spacious. Free WI Fi connection with little tables and chairs to sit at. Free milk and coffee etc for campers. Large hot showers and laundry facilities. Everything was new and tasteful.

We had a wonderful position looking out over the sea and Summer Isles but in saying that, all plots were spacious and had sea view.

Can't praise the site enough. We will be back.

The owners pub food, opposite, was pleasant although a little dear. That was the only slight negative. We would have gone more often if it had been a little less expensive. The take away fish and chips were very good though!

Stayed here for 1 night on a tour of the Highlands and was impressed with the layout, facilities and location.

The site is on several levels so that most pitches have a sea view. The toilet block was modern and very clean. The heating inside was appreciated and there is a small reception area with chairs and tables where you can sit whilst waiting for your washing to finish or to use the free wi-fi connection protected from the midges.

We used the laundry and paid £3. 50 for a 34 min wash and 50p per 5 mins of drying (we just paid for 5 mins then hung the washing out on the fence)

The pitch was £10 for the van, £2 per person and £3 for electric.

Showers were free but my only gripe was that there was no temperature control, just a push button and I had to jump back out of the flow a couple of times to keep from getting scalded. I wound most certainly not wash a small child in these showers.

The pub at the top of the hill had great views but we couldn't sample the food as they said they had a number of tables booked for later in the evening and they only had enough potatoes to do chips for the booked parties (the menu was pretty much fish & chips, scampi & chips, burger & chips. ). Admittedly they are out in the sticks so it's not as though they could pop to the local shop to get some more.

This site appears to be a gem this far north as there aren't a huge number of sites to choose from and it has been by far the best we've seen in the highlands.

This is the best campsite I have ever stayed at. It is in a great place and on the way there you will pass stunning views of the Summer Isles.

The beach is mostly rocky but there is another big white sandy beach just a couple of miles up the road.

The site itself is well set out with great sea views. Boat trips to the Summer Isles and more are from Polbain just 2 miles away.

I stayed at Port A Bhaigh Campsite for 5 nights and used it as a base to explore the Assynt region for photography but it would be just as good for hiking, climbing kayaking and more.

The facilities are excellent with the heated shower block right in the middle of the site. It is all spotlessly clean with big roomy showers. There is a disabled shower/toilet room which is excellent. In the washroom, as well as dish-washing facilities there is a washer and dryer (coin operated). To the side of the building are the chemical disposal facilities.

There is free WIFI with tables and chairs for you to sit inside to use this in comfort.

If you go to the pub (just across the road) to meet the locals you will have a great time the people are friendly and enjoy meeting visitors and are just as eager to share their stories with you. The food is excellent with local seafood a speciality. There is a take away menu which is excellent value.

Dave and Katrina (your hosts of both the campsite and pub) are very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay very much and will definitely return.

Great People, a great place and a great campsite.

Very quiet tidy well maintained site, good selection of pitches, free Wi-Fi. Clean toilet/shower block plenty of hot water.

Beach access not easy if you have walking difficulties.

Restaurant was a bit out of our budget, but I suppose location dictates a good part of this and people have to make a living.

Takes a long time driving to go no-where on beautifully scenic single track roads. We went to Lochinver which had rip off prices and very poor mannered shop assistants but Ullapool was very good.

This must now be the best campsite on the west coast of Scotland. The toilet/shower/kitchen block is modern, clean, hygienic and believe it or not, heated. The campsite layout is excellent with several terraces, all seaward facing with great sunset views.

The owner is friendly and helpful. I have been a camper for 40 years and never experienced such a well designed and well thought out campsite anywhere in the UK.

The pub is at the campsite entrance, it serves good food and beer. Its location in Assynt is an area of outstanding beauty, with great walking trails on the coast and in the mountains.

This is a cracking new campsite in a lovely remote area. Facilities are brand new. 3 showers and 6 toilets and sinks in the ladies and presumably the same in the gents. Modern and spotless. A laundrette with washing machine and tumble drier etc.

Free Wifi connection. The pitches are on several different levels with the lowest ones looking straight out over the water to the Summer Isles. Not sure how many had EHU.

There is a pub directly across the road from the campsite which is owned by the same people. Very friendly, and the food is excellent. We had freshly caught languistines which were fantastic. There was a small band playing at the pub one of the nights we were there.

Achiltibuie is 4 miles along the road and it has a store for provisions. Ullapool is the nearest town and it is about 20/30 mins south. The scenery in the area is beyond compare.

I don't think this site would be great for young children as there is nothing much to entertain them and also there are three deep pools which are unfenced with water running down the hill into them and on down over the beach and into the sea.

Most of the campers there were walkers / cyclists / scuba divers etc. But for simply sitting, chilling out and drinking in the scenery it is ideal.

I would definitely recommend this site to those wishing to visit the far north west of Scotland or as part of a Scottish touring holiday.
