Stayed here twice now and this site is brilliant. Remote site, clean, modern, well spaced pitches and not too big (I don't like big cramped loud sites with kids running riot. There is no play area which is always a good sign of some kids free bliss). The site is well supervised and friendly and the nearby pub is great, serving quality food. Location stunning right next to the sea. Very hard to fault anything but one small point - a sort of cinder is used on the hard standings and it seems to tread around into the van if you are not careful, so a quick tip - park your van to the edge of the cinder so you step on to the grass. Overall a fantastic site.

I'm trying very hard to understand how anyone can say anything derogatory about this site. Ok so no shaver points. There's always wet shaving. Look around while your shaving and imagine how much that wonderful facility block costs and by the way, it doesn't clean itself.
The rubbish on the beach is in now way any reflection on the site. Merely a reflection of the huge amount of waste deposited in the sea by various ships. As the owners also have a pub and restaurant to run. Not to mention a croft. I think they do a magnificent job.
As someone who lives in the highlands and doesn't just visit here I can vouch for the amount of work that goes into keeping this site in the wonderful condition it is in.
And to the people who notice the wash in debri. There's a beautiful view over isle rustic directly I front of you. Please focus on the positives.

Returned for first visit since october 2013 and pleased to see the facilities are still good although some campers left the gents washroom in a mess and didn't seem to understand the concept of mopping floors after taking a shower.
There were plenty of hardstand pitches available ( number 11 has the best view in my opinion) and the grass was short if not manicured. One issue is the amount of plastic rubbish that is washed in by each tide ( a problem common to most of the west coast I'm afraid) some of this gets blown onshore and onto the site and although I know this would be a constant battle, it would be nice to see this rubbish picked up more often.
The pub meal was great if a tad expensive and of course the view from the decking is magnificent.
Disappointed to find the nearby smokery has now closed. No doubt the owners have moved production to somewhere more cost effective ? Pity.
We had a great walk along the road north to Reiff and then onto the maccair (?) and got sunburnt the weather was that good. No sign of the dreaded midge at the end of May.
Will be back to this site mainly due to its location.

Stayed here on a calm night in February. Great facilities, heated and very modern toilets etc, plus a small seating area to wait around in. View to sea (SW) and intertidal area is great, and you could hop over to the shore if you wish. The pub run by the owners is just above the site and we ate there. That too is good - local seafood etc. And well prepared. The pitches are pretty stoney and pegging out an awning on the adjacent grass was a trial, but you can't do much about the soil (or lack of it). The peninsular is a wonderful quiet place to go with the remarkable and huge beach at Achnhaird on the north side. No idea what the site would be like in the summer but being on the shore the midge issue should be minimised.

We stayed at this site for two nights in January. It is an excellent small site with first class facilities. The toilet and shower block is new, very clean and warm. The whole site is well maintained my the friendly owners who clearly take pride in what they provide.
The site is located in an attractive sheltered bay with great views out to the Summer Isles. It is well worth the drive to reach this beautiful area and stay in such a good quality site. The Am Fuaran bar and restaurant owned by the site owners is an added bonus. Good food and beer beside warm wood fires!

Just returned from a weeks holiday on this site what a wonderful location, very quiet and out of the way at this time of year just what we wanted, weather was tremendous for most of the week but winter did arrive on the last 2 days and packed up in snow. The price is towards the top end of what we would usually pay but even so I think excellent value. The facilities are superb I notice one previous review mentions the lack of a shaver socket in the Gents and it is still the same but if that's the only problem found the rest must be good. Always clean nice warm showers a kitchen area with freezer and fridge for those who may need them and free access to wifi. The lady who runs the site is very nice chatty and welcoming but distant enough to let you get on with your vacation without feeling overpowered, there is direct access to a stoney beach and rock pools and plenty of hills to walk or climb, we saw sea otters and seals. But no chidrens play equipment so if you have children who need entertaining this is worth considering but that didn't bother me. We will definitely be visiting again.

Visited in September 2012 stayed 4 days.
The drive to the site is simply gorgeous do not be put off by the 'Single Track Road' plenty of passing places even for BIG units. Added to which I have to say the curtesy of all the drivers including 'White Van Man' was superb - a nice change for someone who drove 35, 000 miles per year until I retired.
Even although it was a bit dull and overcast when we arrived the view of the Summer Isles was serene.
The facilities are simply fantastic and the owners etc are very helpful.
Plenty good walking including on the roads which we do not normally like. However they are so quiet except at the 'rush hour' when maybe as many a 5 cars may pass you!??
The pub and food is good and reasonably priced - if the wood-burner is on be warned it gets HOT.
Will visit again without doubt

Arrived at campsite after a lovely drive in. booked in at the bar, warmly welcomed, booked in for three nights eventually stayed four, as the weather was holding out.
Site lay out very good plenty of room for everyone. Plenty of EHUs, I dont use them. Pitched tent, amazing scenery all around.
As said in previous reviews the facilities are immacculate, showers very good, facilities block lovely and warm.
Tent pitched (halfords 4 man tent) time to visit the bar, pleasantly met by the owners and others, bar was filling up with diners, I heard nothing but glowing reports about the food. I did have a scampi take away later lovely.
Drove up to lochinver on single track road hairy in places views stunning, always welcome back in the bar at evening time.
All said lovely place, lovely owners, staff and locals. Will return next year

Wow! Wow! Wow! What amazing scenery, and that's way before you arrive at the site. You feel like you've been transported to another time and place, with the enormous mountains, the Lochs, the crofters cottages its almost as if you were on some volcanic island somewhere and as for that single track road with lots an lots of passing places on either side, leading up to Port A Bhaigh, 12 miles of sheer delight and terror all in one, in the lead up to what can only be described as God's own back garden, when you come over that final crest and see the summer isles all laid out before you it takes your breath away. Honestly, it really does!
How many beautiful views can you keep pointing out to each other, look over here! and look over there!, wow, look at that! It's so difficult trying to soak it all up whilst also trying to manoeuvre the car and caravan around the sides of mountains on a single track road with other vehicles seeming to come out of nowhere, yes, its pretty daunting to me, the newbie caravanner, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
Eventually after about 45 minutes of weaving, stopping, starting, climbing and descending, you arrive at Port A Bhaigh which descends still further, down a steep winding gravel slope to a modern looking toilet block with a glass frontage and further down another level to a little outcrop of caravans, motorhomes and tents.
On the window was a sign saying that a member of staff would be there between 11 am - 1 pm and I think it was 4 pm - 6 pm and if not around to just pick a pitch as non were pre booked, so we picked a pitch further down the gravel road right at the front, so we were now facing an incredible view out to one of the summer isles, in a superb setting.
The gravel road descent had both Paula and I a little concerned as to whether or not we'd make it back up with the caravan attached but we needn't have worried, because when we voiced our concerns to a lovely lady when we finally booked in, she said, don't worry David will tow you out with his landrover, which he did and even when we tried to give him some money for him having to get up early and do it for us, he kindly refused and said 'No thank you, thanks all the same', and wished us a safe journey home. Many thanks again David.
The site then, what was it like? Well, the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and thanks to the staff for that because we were there when it was very busy. There was very warm under floor heating in there too, which was nice. Showers were fairly large with a seat included inside, plenty of hooks for your clothes etc and always plenty of hot water available.
The family run bar at the top of the site 'AM FUARAN Bar' didn't allow our little dog inside, which was understandable as they serve food, so we only went the once, but it was 'olde worlde' inside and we bought drinks and took them outside to drink on the terrace whilst watching the beautiful sunset.
The staff here couldn't do enough for you which made our stay all that more memorable. Thank you all very much.
Don't let the single track road nor the steep descent down to the site put you off, because I can guarantee that once you've settled down for your first night here you'll be captured by the place just as we were. We didn't have a 4x4, those that did had no trouble at all, plus David says he's planning to tarmac the road this year which will make it much easier to negotiate it.

Just returned from a 6 week tour of my homeland and can't rate this site highly enough. Brand new toilet block. Lovely owner and the lady who does the cleaning also very friendly and helpful.
Had brilliant weather, did lots of walking\cycling and a tour of the Summer Isles (would recommend).
Had the most fantastic seafood meal in the owner's restaurant above the campsite - beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Can't wait to go back.
Apparently killer whales (Orcas) were seen in the bay a few days before our arrival but sadly they didn't appear for us!
