Spent one night at this fantastic campsite, and despite it being unseasonably cold for August, we had a lovely time.
The site and amenity block is absolutely spotless and there is nothing they could add to improve the overall presentation, in my opinion. I prefer rustic locations to camp, and the tent pitches at this site are well spread out and the terraces at the back of the site perfect for hiding away and also allowing for perfect views over the bay and sunsets, thus making a superb spot for combining plentiful facilities with a general feel of wild-camping.
The wee beach is great for beach-combing but is not immaculate, there is plenty of debris (washed up rope and bits n bobs), but great for a scramble along the rocks when the tide is out and there is some nice walking in the vicinity too.
We have a generous 4-berth tent, three large dogs and an estate car - one night = £14! Superb value.
The drive in to Altandhu past the Assynt range including Stac Pollaidh is second-to-none for scenery, and the pie-shop in Lochinver (whilst expensive) is well worth a visit too. Don't forget ullapool on the way back for fish n chips :)

Agree with comments regarding position of site, reasonable charges, hot water etc but was astounded to be told by the warden that there were no shaver points in their beautiful new male washroom.
She directed me instead to a single socket requiring an adaptor (which fortunately I had) in the laundrette/dish-washing room. This omission requires immediate attention!
Glad to hear that the top half of the steep approach road is to be improved, and at the same time that beach just below the site could do with some tidying-up.

Arrived here about 2pm. Office re-opens at 4pm.
Went fishing and returned at 5pm with freezer full of mackerel.
Got great position facing out to sea.
Perfect situation and close to the lovely Fuaran Bar and outside deck.
Facilities excellent, just as they should be. Similar to a site I stayed on near Arisaig. Hot water plentiful and free wifi.
Very reasonable price also, unlike some Caravan and Camping Club sites I've been to.
Only stayed one night as was touring but would go back again for longer.
Narrow roads with passing places but the 27ft vehicle was ok.
However we did not attempt the coastal road to Lochinver as this is restricted to 26ft and is a challenging drive.

Just back from this site. It's our campsite nirvana and one that we shall compare every other site too.
Ok so the tent pitches aren't quite level. In fact some are quite steep slopes. The grass pitches aren't like bowling greens but this really means nothing.
The on site facilities are second to none. So much thought and effort must have gone into these not to mention financial outlay. The free showers are excellent ( I didn't want to get out ) they even thought of shower seats for less abled campers. And a squeegee mop to get rid of excess water. The hand basins are immaculate and both hand dryers and paper towels are available. Even a low level soap dispenser for the little ones.
In the pot wash area are two sinks, huge washer and dryer, 2 fridges and full size freezer. Again everything is immaculate.
2 bistro tables in the entrance are for campers use. Great for sending emails using the free wi fi. And did I mention how warm it all is.
The site looks out over isle Ristol and the rest of the summer isles. Magnificent sunsets are to be seen.
We were woken early every morning to the sound of cuckoos, lambs and cockerels, wonderful.
To sum up. Don't go. We want it all to ourselves.

Just returned from a fabulous week's holiday on the North West Coast of Scotland. We stayed 3 nights at this fabulous site which is located in a superb spot with great views and fantastic sunsets.
The site seems mainly set up for motorhomes and caravans however there is ample space for tents. There is no reception as such, but as mentioned the owners have the pub opposite the site where you can go to book in.
There is a fantastic amenity block which has everything you could want and is absolutely spotlessly clean. The showers are free and are powerful and hot, if we had to make one minor criticism and this is really knit picking, the fridge is only one of those small fridges for chilling bottles of beer/lager and it would be more beneficial if there was a full size fridge especially for us in tents!
There is seating with a couple of tables in the amenity block which is a real bonus if it is cold outside as you can still enjoy a glass of wine in the warmth whilst watching the sun set.
The owners were very friendly and so were our fellow campers, especially Pat and George from Edinburgh who made our stay all the more pleasurable.
All this for 12 pound a night for the two of us, you couldn't wish for a nicer site. We will definitely be returning!

Just spent the last 5 days at this wonderful site, owners are extremely friendly and appear to keep a close watch on what is going on without being at all obtrusive.
This is a relatively new site and amenity block is kept spotless.
If visiting this site, a must is the cruise aboard the 'Isabella' which sails from Badentarbet Pier which is just along the road. If you are lucky you will come across a pod of dolphins, and Ian, the skipper, will make sure you are soon in among them.
Dolphins are also regularly seen swimming about in the bay directly in front of the site.

We stayed at this site for one night. Three Adults, one of whom was over 70.
Apart from improvement needed for the footpaths the overall site was excellent.
The hooks up all worked as did the facilities for water.
The toilet/shower etc block was very clean and warm!
We made use of the bar which was owned by the same people the food was very well priced, there was plenty of it and it was home cooked. Whay more could we ask for!
We would definitely go again and would recommend. Although this site is a drive from the Port for the Ferry it was definitely worth the journey.
The people who run the site were friendly and polite. Well done!

Absolutely superb! brand new site and spanking new facilities of very high quality. Owners also run the pub next to the site so a warm welcome and excellent food are guaranteed along with good beer too. The area is fantastic with superb sea views and views of the Isles. We were the only ones on the site in October and I bet when this site is better known we will not be as lucky to have the whole site to ourselves again. Nearby Smokery had superb local produce which is worth a visit and spending a few bob on their products. Site itself was terraced and well laid out so you would not be looking into someone elses van, good use of space.
We will definitely be back this year.

The views are spectacular and there is a true shoreline set of pitches, there is even a small burn running through the edge of the site.
In terms of facilities it has to be said these are second to none. The smallest details have been considered, the toilets are pleasantly scented with immaculate cleaning. The showers are probably 3 times the size of some, so much so you don't need a screen to keep your clothes dry as you shower.
Disabled facilities are outstanding. In terms of laundry and fridge facilities it is all there in an excellent utility room for washing. I really can't recommend this site strongly enough.
Just up the road is a pub and it is very friendly. If you want to eat there, then make sure you book, though you can get take away.
The only things I would consider needs improving or bearing in mind is that the shop is 4 miles away - so no emergency supplies on site. Also as we are talking a remote area of West Scotland it would be nice to see some facilities for tents to cook indoors as it can be very windy at times (and without any notice).
Excellent walks for the dog and the shop is a nice walk away, selling fair priced wine etc. For water loving dogs you really can't beat this site and at £17 per night in high season for 2 + dog in a motorhome with electric it is a true bargain.
Be warned if you don't like driving single track with passing places, then perhaps avoid the North-West of Scotland, it is a fairly long drive on single track, but it is so worth it.
This is the kind of site that you dream about returning to as soon as you leave.

The drive along the one track lane with passing places only has the most terrific views. At the end we found the most fantastic site with fantastic facilities in the middle of heaven.
There are ample spaces with large pitches all with a view. The pub was full of friendly people. We had a lovely meal, the food was great and so was the service.
Worth a visit to the shop 4 miles along the road if you run out of anything its an Aladdins den.
Only problems we found with the site was the smell from the septic tanks could be over powering.
It will not stop us from going back next year, now we know where the tanks are we would just pitch elsewhere on the site.
