A good friendly and relaxed site overlooking a small part sand part stone bay. Facilities clean and well cared for. I was told the prices were comparable to those in the surrounds of Ullapool but certainly more than any CC site I stayed at during our month in Scotland, but still satisfactory value for money. The area is wonderful and there is a choice of good eating establishments including directly opposite the site entrance.

The drive through to the Summer Isles should not be missed

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and can't wait to return. The kids keep talking about it and I keep thinking of how and when we can go again.

We are a family with 2 boys (8 and 6) and a dog. This site was ideal for us. There are lovely views of sea, sunset and the Summer Isles. We had easy access to the beach and spent most of our time here, (sand, rocks, pebbles, boulders, swimming) some others made beach fires. Dog friendly, though we needed to be careful as there's a lot of sheep.

Other campers used a mix of tents, motor homes, campervans and backpacking tents. The other campers were very friendly and full of information about the area.

Small site, shower blocks are lovely, clean, warm, handriers. Free WiFi in this building and a couple of tables and chairs to sit and use it. Space to clean dishes, use fridge/freezer (we didn't need). Chemical waste. Subtle lighting at the site.

The owners run a restaurant and bar which is really special, though perhaps some simpler fayre would be good to have too. You can't take the dog inside but there is space outside to drink and take in views. The small bar has a pool table and card table and was very very inviting.

There is a little vegetable/food stall at a house just before the site. This would be very useful. We also visited an truly amazing beach closeby (Achnahaird).

The best site for us yet.

Brilliant in all aspects. Just spent 2 nights there recently in motorhome with awning. It was hard to leave ! All facilities are well cared for and spotlessly clean. There are areas for all types of campers and the atmosphere in the campsite is great too. It is beautifully situated with fab sunsets and views, though it did help the weather was fantastic.

The nearest shop is 3 miles away in achiltibue, but close to the top of the site there is a croft selling home grown veg, salads and preserves. They have eggs too.

The food in the bar at the top of the site ( not noisy all and far enough away) looked amazing and sea food looked like it was landed that day. We had dogs and so didn't get a chance to eat there. You can take a dog onto the outside deck of you fancy a drink though.

My one bit of advice would be to go well stocked if you can, because if you have the weather we had you may not want to leave. I think it is open all year, we will definitely be back.

To visit Port A Bhaigh you must leave the A835 south of Drumrunie sharply out to the west for 12 miles on on the narrowest single track road.

The unnamed road traverses the left side of small lochs with views into rugged low lying West Highland countryside. A measure of the terrain - you will need 45 minutes to complete the 12 miles, but using the passing places for moments to collect, see the journey as part of the experience.

Port A Bhaigh campsite sits on a small bay, protected to the west by Isle Ristol and Eilean Mulagrach, the first of the Summer Islands, their low turf and heather clad moorland rimmed by creamy fawn rock shores on the line between sea and sky. The view is ‘heart-felt’ rather than breath-taking. It has an intimacy that tells you that you belong here.

The site

The terraced pitches are generally reasonably level, although it is wise to take blocks. Most are rough hard standing, separated by turf, but all have elevated views across the bay. If required electric points are available at the base of the wooden posts.

The facilities block is new and well appointed with wet-room level eco-showers, but no privacy cubicles. Central alongside facilities for the less able, is a kitchen with kettle and twin refrigerators, and the laundry. Just inside the doors is a small wifi area with seating and tables.

To book and pay, ascend the hill to the owner’s pub. With friendly bar and dining room serving snacks and main evening meals, it has a convivial atmosphere. Make the most of it for, to the north, the nearest next pub is in Iceland.

Our stay was for a lamentably short four nights, so we were not able to explore the diverse walks from the site. I recommend the road to Reiff offering headland views from the coastal path beyond. Others we noticed, took kayaks on an escorted trip around the islands.

The Pot Of Gold at the end of the rainbow!

The road here from the north of Ullapool sets the scene. Stac Pollah and mountains scenery that will leave you gasping. As you descend into Altandu you will have a fantastic view of the Summer Isles. Once seen never forgotten. The site is on the shore line. Sunsets guaranteed. Beautifull facilities. Very clean, warm, grade one showers and toilets. Wifi at the toilet block but phone and wifi signals non existent elsewhere. Who cares when you enjoy the Vista.

A 3 minute slog up the steep hill takes you to the Am Fuaran bar/ Inn. Excellent fresh sea food dishes at decent prices. Go for the scallops or Langoustines. Fantastic.

To miss this site is to miss the winning lottery ticket!

Good walking and please go to the Achiltibuie stores, the piping school cafe and Salt restaurant.

This is the best campsite we have stayed at, the location cannot be improved upon, if you are looking for stunning isolated beauty, far from the madding crowd this is the site to visit. Down a 15 mile single track road, with plenty of passing places and very considerate local drivers, the views get more and more stunning the closer you get to the site.

The facilities are excellent, very high quality fixtures and fittings, thoughtful design and kept clean. We very much appreciated free wifi as we hadn't appreciated how difficult it cabin be to get a signal in the highlands.

There is a pub run by the campsite owners next to the site, the food was delicious and pleasant surrounding but unfortunately a bit spoiled by the bar being adjacent to were we were eating and the locals were a bit rowdy, it would benefit from a redesign and separation of the bar and restaurant.

There is a brilliant little shop nearby which can cater for a lot of your immediate needs, otherwise nearest supermarket is Ullapool. If you like art, there is the most glorious gallery near the shop, wonderful.

Customer service by the owners of the campsite was a little confused and vague, I'm not sure if they have recently taken over but they we also gentle and friendly.

We spent three nights with our motorhome at this picturesque site which is right on the shore line with stunning views all around. The toilet/shower block is new with the past 5 years and is spotlessly clean and has superb showers. Laundry facilities again are first class. The site is run by the hotel at the top of the hill as you enter the site and serve good quality food. A trip around the peninsula is worth while. Its a single track road into the area with plenty of passing places so take the trip its well worth it and much recommended. We will be back next year

This is a lovely site, right on the side of a beach overlooking the Summer Isles. The site is tiered and well set out, so views wherever you pitch. Very popular with kayakers, but room for all comers. Well spaced hardstandings, plenty of grassy areas, no designated pitches. Outstanding facilities block, heated and immaculate, fridge, laundry facilities. It also has a couple of chairs/tables for sitting and using the free wifi, and where the tent campers congregated for breakfast in the warm and dry while planning where they could kayak!

The pub at the top of the drive (same owners) is excellent, booking advised.

First trip away in our new van. All I can say is if this is the quality of sites we have nothing to worry about.

The site is laid out so every plot has a view of the sea.

The utility block was spotless and warm. Showers were hot and easy to use.

No owners on site but a quick walk up the hill takes you to Am Fuaran Bar, where you book in. We couldn't eat at the bar as they don't allow dogs, but it did look very nice and reasonable priced.

There are no play facilities for children, but that was fine with us.

There is internet access in the utility block which also has tables and chair to use.

First stay here and very impressive it was. Excellent location right by the sea. Good pitching for tents and vans with splendid views.

New facilities block; modern and clean. Small kitchen with fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer. Microwave would have been good or a proper camping kitchen even. Meals are available in the owner's pub a short walk up the hill. Nice outdoor seating too.

It's worth the trip to get to it.
