We visited on a hot summer weekend. The site was very tidy and well maintained the toilet block and facilities were immaculate. There are some service pitches (which are not advertised). All pitches spacious. The wardens are efficient. The adjoining park and canoeing centre were very busy and at times quite noisy. The pub at the entrance has a large beer garden which adjoins the caravan park, on the week-end we visited it was hosting a bouncy castle and obviously was very very busy and noisy. Inside the pub was welcoming and accepted well behaved dogs. The steam train passes the site several times during the day but it is not obtrusive and I understand a halt beside the site is planned. There is a regular bus to Bury a short walk from the site (does not run Sundays). Lots of good dog walking off site. The site is part of an old mill and has been nicely developed as an activity centre with both river and canal close by.

Just returned from a brilliant camp site. Cannot find one single fault with this site. The toilets and showers were spot on lots or hot water and very roomy. So much to see and do couldn't get it all in so we are going back. Credit to the wardens they work very hard. Two pubs close to the site one being just at the entrance. Burry market is massive and well worth a visit. Children of all ages will love the steam trains as the track runs along the back of site.

Fantastic site (also went December 2007)
Friendly staff.
Well spaced pitches. Immaculate toilet block.
Nearby pubs, parks and walks. Bury town centre has alot to offer especially the market.
The steam trains running through the back of this site make it a firm favourite with the children ( which is why we returned in December to go on the highly popular Santa Express)
We will definitely be using this site again

What a fabulous site. All the facilities are very clean and modern. Spacious shower cubicles and powerful showers. The toddler bathroom was a real hit with our 2 boys - especially as it is decorated out with Thomas the Tank stickers! The railway runs along the back of the site and the trains run just often enough to be entertaining rather than a nuisance. The line is purely run for tourism purposes only. There is no play area on site, but there are 2 close nearby in the country park.
There is surprisingly a lot to do in the area. The Bury market is well worth a look around, and a ride on the train is a must. Manchester is only a short tram ride away. The country park is also worth a visit - lovely walks by the river and water sports if you are feeling adventurous. We will be returning again when Thomas the Tank and his friends will be visiting the railway.

Our dog's favourite site - plenty of interesting walks and a Pub that allows well behaved dogs in.
It's also one of our favourite sites. Only trouble is that the site is so good, you have trouble getting on it at week-ends, so no chance of a last minute get-away.

A fantastic site, well maintained, very good location, lots of walks. Spotless toilets, showers etc. Excellent wardens, good security. Quite site in the evenings. Ensure you get a pitch near the back so you can watch the steam trains run by.
Highly recommended. Enough said.

Visited this site this weekend, just for the day as was fully booked. Just wish we were able to stay for a week as we found it a very pleasing clean and friendly site. Plenty to do with very nice walks extremely Dog Friendly. With a nice country Pub at the entrance to the site. Wardens were very obliging . Will certainly try and book a longer stay.

Highly recommended site - very friendly wardens who were helpful and kept the place immaculate. The facilities were brand new and very clean - they even have a bathroom for under 5's so the kids can have a bath in the evening which ours loved. We asked for a pitch backing on to the railway line and every 15 minutes or so in the daytime a lovely steam or diesel engine would chug by whistling its horn with all on board waving. There is a great country park next door with lovely walks along the riverbanks and fishing and tadpoling available. Right next door to the site is a pub with playarea for the kids although we thought the food was overpriced and poor quality. Overall a great place to spend the weekend and we will definitely be returning.

A great site with a pub sited at the entrance serving reasonable food at fair prices. Excellent for dog walking, toilet blocks well kept not a lot to grumble about. Only disappointment was steam trains only ran on Sunday, Diesel trains used on Saturday & during the week. Also the Wardens were insistent on saying the town centre was in easy walking distance of the site, in my opinion it wasn't - not with young children anyway! Good fun watching the canoes in the mini rapids. I will return again & can recommend the site

Just had a great weekend break here. Don't be put off by the drive through the outskirts of a housing estate to access the site. What lies beyond is a great surprise! The site has been fully refurbished to CC high standards. Lots of spacious hard standings, and some grass pitches all with electric hook ups. Also a couple of 'super pitches' with own water and drainage. Fab new toilet and shower block. The country park itself (owned and run by the local council) is very nice to explore and shows an imaginative use of industrial heritage land, with picnic areas, sculptures and trails. There is also a water activity centre - we saw groups doing kyaking. No play area on site but plenty of open space for children to wear themselves out. The trains coming past the site, both steam and diesel were great (East Lancashire Railway). We had a trip on the train using the CC vouchers to 'buy one get one free'. Would have loved to have had time to explore the 'Famous Bury Market'. The Brown Cow pub at the site entrance was friendly and good value, with basic food using local produce. It also has a large beer garden with playground for the children, which would be ideal in the summer. Locally we found ASDA five minutes away for the food shopping. Will we go again.yes.if only find time to explore that Market!
