Beautiful site, even in winter! Amazing shower/toilet block. Warm, immaculate and lovely hot showers. Site managers were very helpful and it was great to be able to choose our own pitch on both our visits. Will definitely be going there again, even though we only live 25 minutes away! Loved the steam trains passing. Some lovely walks too.
Can't comment on child friendliness really, as didn't take any. Country park close by, so good I suppose.

Just returned from our second visit we mainly go for the Bury Market but from the town you can get a bus or tram to lots of other places including Manchester. The site is well laid out but has very little trees or shrubs to say that is in a country park which has lots of walks and trails. The toilet block is very clean and warm and there are several water points, we did book a fully serviced pitch but could not find any, but pitched near the toilet block on a hard standing with electric hook up. I think the staff must have had post Christmas blues as they were not very friendly or helpful this time. There is no shop near to the site and so be prepared no papers much to my husbands disappointment, but Bury is only 25 minutes walk or a 10 minute bus ride away the stop is just out side the park entrance about 10 minutes walk from the van near a small pub cannot remember the name did not go in. There is also a pub on site that does good food but was a bit cold while we were there though they did put the heat on for us, but I believe it is on the market so could be different in the future. Bury has lots of shops the great market and plenty of places to eat and drink. I do not think we will go again the walk to the bus stops was a bit much for my other half but a lovely site to see the country side and towns in the area.

Booked this caravan site some months ago so that we could use it to visit Old Trafford for the Rugby League play off final. Stayed 3 nights, Thursday to Sunday. A really good site just outside Bury town centre on the edge of the country park.
Very welcoming lady on reception on our arrival and other members of staff we saw during our stay were friendly & helpful. The toilet block facilities were excellent & very clean at all times. The shower cubicles were a good size and I liked the step down into the shower area which meant the standing area where you dress was clean & dry. Pitches are large & almost everyone was on hard standing as the grass pitches were very wet.
The country park is a dog walkers paradise with paths criss-crossing the grassed areas. Also the river Irlam & canals which previously served the old mills made walking a pleasure.
We visited Bury town centre on 2 occasions and parking was very easy although cost £2 for 2 hours. The Rock & Millgate shopping centres were excellent according to my wife and even I visited the market and enjoyed it.
We visited the Brown Cow pub just outside the caravan park entrance and found it friendly with a good selection of beers and the food was typical pub grub and was of a reasonable standard for the price.
We had a good long weekend & will definitely return in the future.

We were very scared to return to Burrs after our last experience - nothing to do with the site just the caravan & the weather. We were worried! I have to say we had an absolutely fabulous time. No problems with caravan and the weather was great. The site access is cobbles and I would advise extreme caution go slow and it'll be fine! The site itself is lovely with the steam train going past regularly, although if your not fussy on the noise don't go on the weekend of the stream train event - woke us up at 7am on a Sunday & continued going up & down the track hooting for all its worth for an hour or more! Shower a great size better than most cc sites I've visited and up to cc standard for cleanliness as is the site. Surrounding countryside fabulous for long leisurely walks and the Brown Cow pun highly recommended. The river and the canal are within 5 mins walk. Went into Bury market to get provisions on Saturday morning, great is all I can say. All in all a great site will be going back soon. It is a little more expensive than most of cc sites not sure if I'd say value for money but as it is a lovely site in a lovely position you decide if you want to pay the extra.

A quite excellent site with a real queer entrance!
There are two entrance barriers operated by card. The card contact for the first barrier is at the left hand side of the car! I kid you not!
There is a bit of noise from the park but it's not a problem - just the sound of people enjoying themselves. More of a nuisance during the weekends of our stay was the noise of loud music from the nearby pub from mid afternoon but it finished early enough that it wasn't a bedtime problem.

A fantastic caravan club site on the edge of the Burrs Country Park at Bury. Friendly wardens keep the site and shower block immaculate. There are many walks straight from the site, we went for 10 days and didn't move our car once!
A 15 minute walk gets you to Bury town centre, with its super world famous market, excellent shopping centres (The Rock and Millgate) as well as art gallery and museums. We went on the East Lancashire Railway, the station is in central Bury, and the steam trains travel alongside the caravan site. Great for enthusiasts! You can buy an all-line ticket so you can get on and off the train at different stations along the route as many times as you like. If you're caravan club members remember to take a Great Days Out voucher and your membership card, so you get 2 tickets for the price of 1.
We also made use of our bus passes to explore the surrounding area, the bus stop being just a 5 minute walk from the site. A bus or tram from Bury soon gets you to Manchester with all its attractions. We would recommend the Industry and Science Museum, and the People's History museum, both free entry and perfect for a rainy day! Give yourself plenty of time to get round them as the Science museum in particular is huge.
There is no playground on the actual site but a very good one on Woodhill Road, again only 5 minutes from the site. The Brown Cow pub situated next to the site seemed to be popular but we didn't go there so cannot comment on that. We can however, recommend the fish and chip shop on Brandlesholme Road! This was our second visit to this site and will not be our last.

Visited this site over the new year. We arrived on a wet and windy Sunday. Beware the cobbled entrance quite a bumpy ride that shook us to the bones - best take it as slow as possible. Pitches are large and we had hard standing as the grass was very boggy due to the weather. The electrics kept blowing and the warden was really helpful, they had only arrived a day or two before but were in full swing already.
The site itself is in a lovely location close to the town centre and the steam train passing by makes it really picturesque. Facilities are great warm and spacious showers await after a cold and wet walk - lovely. The pub at the entrance of the pub sells good food and real ale but prices are higher than usual - a captive market.
All in all despite the weather, the electrics and a mountain of issues with our van we had a lovely time & will be visiting again when it gets warmer!

Love this site and everything about it and the surrounding areas. Will visit again as I cannot give any negatives about it. For me, being able to sit and watch steam trains and the odd plane fly over in the sunshine and watch the world go by was heaven. Dog walks a plenty. Very basic shop in reception but Bury is a short walk away for stocking up. Loads to do in the area or you can do nothing and just relax. Typical Caravan Club standards, no issues there.

Have just returned from a weekend break at Burrs Country Park Caravan Club Site. It was our first time on a Club site. You can't fault this site, the pitches are a good size, toilets and showers immaculate and the East Lancashire Steam Railway runs right next to the site which is lovely. The wardens were very friendly and helpful.
We had a nice weekend. However my only personal negative is that I did find the way the pitches are laid out a bit 'car park' ish. Not much character, clean and tidy but without personality ! This is only my personal opinion and I do still highly recommend the site if you are visiting the Bury area.
Only a 20 minute walk into Bury where you can catch the tram straight into Manchester. Tried the Brown Cow Pub at the entrance to the site for lunch and it was very nice and close and handy for the site.

This is a lovely site within reach of Bury town centre. The site was excellently kept & the wardens obviously spend a lot of time on keeping it looking great.
The toilet block is very modern & was clean at all times. The showers are some of the best I have seen on any site.
Burrs country park is on the doorstep with some lovely walks & plenty of activities.
The site is an easy walk from the Tram station which goes straight into Manchester.
