Just Returned from our second visit to Burrs, there was a mix up with our Fob, some of it was my fault anyway that was sorted.
We do like this site as it is local to us, the showers and toilets are so clean.
We did receive a call from the Warden to say the Electric may be off till 6 pm on the friday but that never happened ?.
We did not have a Drink in the Brown Cow this time but my Sister did on the Saturday and she said it was quite empty but the small room was full of kids and of course the dogs.
The walks are great for the dogs and adults and of course the kids. I find that the people here say hi and that's it, when its time to pack up that's when you see the people on this site.
The Train was a bit of a pain this morning at 7 am, not good if you wanted a lie in.
We will return again as we do like it here.

As long-time members of C&CC, recently joined CC as well so this was first time on a CC site for over 10 years and was of a standard I expected, spotless.
The approach road to the site contains a 300 metre section of good old cobble-stones, enough to shake the joints and seams of a motorhome (or caravan), so approach slowly or the contents of your fridge will be everywhere, ours were.
The steam trains only run at weekends at this time of year but do occasional 'test runs' through the week, a lovely sight and not at all disturbing.
Bury is a good town to visit and nearby Rochdale to a lesser degree but other surrounding towns are a bit of a let-down.
Found it difficult to find things to do at this time of year, not helped by pouring rain.

Just the two of us.
Excellent site, with all facilities well maintained and helpful staff.
Bury is 10 mins in car, 25 mins on foot, 10 mins walk to hourly bus and £4 by excellent taxi service. The transport museum in Bury is worth a visit and the market is a better than most, especially if you like a bit of fish. Manchester easy by tram (and central Manchester has free bus transport which accesses most museums etc. ).
We enjoyed Helmshore Mill, a textile museum to the North (20 mins drive from Bury)and Blackburn is an interesting(!) experience, where we visited the museum/art gallery (some good stuff), and the newish centre.
We couldn't park in Rawtenstall, as it seems to be all disc
Not bad for 4 days in Feb.

Close to Bury town centre which is surprisingly impressive with great shops and a market full of bargains, this is a brilliant site.
Good for industrial archaeology buffs, it's set close to two old cotton mills whose remains can still be seen.
The River Irwell runs past the site and outdoor activities are available, but if you prefer you can just take your dog for a long walk in the country park and enjoy the greenery.
Not forgetting steam train enthusiasts - the East Lancs heritage railway runs along the edge of the site and old steam trains run up and down it all the time.
The shower block is fantastic, obviously new and is spotlessly clean. The Brown Cow pub is literally a few yards away with decent food on offer. Handy for Manchester and the Trafford Centre too. Recommended!

Back from a Weekend at Burrs, our first time in our caravan. The weather was cold and frosty but we enjoyed it nevertheless.
Site very clean and spotless, walks for the Dog very good.
We drank in the Brown Cow on the Saturday, dog friendly pub. We did not eat in there but my sister did and she said it was ok.
There was no entertainment on though.
We are definitely going again as we enjoyed it and it is local to us so that is a bonus.
There is no facilities for kids but plenty of area to walk. The Train passes the site and the steam train is lovely to see.

We usually go to Burrs Country Park every December with friends, it's a nice break after the season has finished. We like to go there because of the location, it's a short bus journey into Bury to have a look round the famous market then a tram journey into Manchester, last year we caught the German market, which was excellent. The site itself is very well run with nicely kept grassed areas and lots of hard standings, (which we usually need in December) The shower/toilet block is very clean and lovely and warm. The icing on the cake are the steam trains which run at the weekends along the edge of the site, even if you're not a steam train fan they are very nostalgic.

Very well maintained site and surprisingly quiet, given the adjoining country park - though the dog still can't figure out what a steam train is!
Facilities are pretty much what you would expect of a CC site, not much ON SITE for kids, but plenty immediately off site to fill the time, including lots of opportunity for walks. Very good for dog owners too.
The Brown Cow, by the entrance is welcoming and they said they were going to have 'turns' on every Saturday, whenever possible.
We didn't eat there, but did at the Garsdale, just down the road. It was very good food and well priced. We also stayed for the quiz and play your cards right on the Thursday night - didn't win! We didn't find any info about these pubs events on site.
Bury's 'famous' market is. Well. A market.
A good site though, well worth a visit.

Good standard Caravan Club site with usually well maintained facilities, hook up etc, good TV reception and TV connection available on all hook up posts, wardens very helpful and approachable. Very close to the centre of Bury but you wouldn't know it as it is a quiet site surrounded by a country park. Steam railway runs at back of site only running at the weekend when we visited. All the shops you need in centre called 'The Rock' Tesco a few minutes away. Children friendly with playground in the country park and plenty of walks with information about the history of this former wool mill site. Brown Cow pub outside entrance to the site serving standard range of food @£8-£10 for a main course and a good choice of beers.

Another great weekend at this beautiful site. Wardens while very efficient are most welcoming and keep the site in tip top condition.
Showers and toilets are spotless. We picked a grass pitch as they assured us it would be well drained and it was.
Visited local pub, Brown cow for meal on Saturday night and always receive a friendly welcome, even with the kids.
Burrs Country Park itself was very busy due to the fab weather but it is still a very nice place visit even though only 12 miles from our home!
Only downside is no play area on site for children and as they seem to have the land for it this would be a welcome addition. Saying that there is one at the pub but you don't always want to sit in the beer garden all weekend.

Burrs Country Park, surprising nice site and location - especially considering this is just outside Bury.
Spacious pitches, clean site, good toilet block.
Great area for walking and these are directly from site.
Bury ‘famous’ market is on Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays offering good quality food, good fish market not to mention the black puddings !
Highly recommended and will be back – 5* site.
