Very pleasant clean meadow site. Friendly and helpful owner. Some sites come with an officious warden turned out in pressed khaki, with a clip board. None of that nonsense at The Barn, just common sense and practical rules, with a very friendly and helpful owner who personally checks everyone is OK every day. Facilities are basic but adequate and clean. A new shower/toilet block opened the day before our arrival and is very welcome. No curtains in the showers, but as an ex soldier the Nordic approach to hygiene doesn't bother me. Campers need to learn to use the mop and bucket provided to help keep the place clean - the floor gets muddy in the rain as the surrounding grass hasn't grown yet. This campsite is a definite tick in the box.

We arrived midday having found the campsite easily, we drove straight in and were greeted within a couple of minutes.
The gentleman who met us was very friendly and pointed out the facilities of the campsite - which is at present simply a toilet, but a more than adequate and fairly clean one.
The owner of the site whom we met at the end of our stay is currently building a new shower block (which looks very nice) which is due to be completed in 2 to 3 weeks.
The Barn Caravan Park is a nice very green pleasant field. Level enough for both tents and caravans, with electric stands for caravans. There are also brick built BBQs dotted around for your use.
It is next door to equestrian stables, so there are plenty of horses around, we also had a couple of swans wander into the field.
We had no problems with aeroplane noise and the single engine planes were actually a pleasure to watch.
Would we stay again. Defo. In fact we are already planning one.

We have stayed at this site many times with our camper and continue to return because of the location, value for money, friendly site owners and flexibility of arrival times.
The site is open yet sheltered, clean and level with electricity points and some hard standing. Electricity is paid for by meter.
There is a newly built toilet which is an improvement on the portable loo. The outdoor shower provides an invigorating challenge for some and has become a ritual rite of passage after April.
We look forward to many more visits here.

We booked a last minute camping weekend at the The barn caravan park. We took our 4 children and they absolutely loved it, they enjoyed playing with the play equipment and football goal. The free wifi was a good bonus, as we could check emails.
Close to lancing town centre and asda
Local bus service to brighton and worthing every 10 minutes [bus stop short walk from site]
The cold shower was ok as the weather was good but a hot shower would complete the site. Great price compared to others in the area.
We had a great weekend away, will be returning this summer.

We came to this site to visit family in the area and chose it because of price.
Though the facilities are limited this small site was not bad value for money.
There was only one toilet, but it was clean and well maintained. Though there was no running hot water and the urinal had no water pipe connected (not a major problem though). The portable loos were out of service but it was never a problem as the one loo seemed adequate for the number of campers there
There are no hot showers at all (but we new that before arriving so it was not a shock). There is no on site shop (but it's not far to the shops in Lancing)
The lighting at night was quite good good compared to some other sites and the electric hookups seemed good value (though there was a short power-cut during our stay).
The field was quite bumpy in parts which could prove a problem when busy and when space is limited. Especially if you have to pitch your large tunnel tent on a bumpy bit! But the site wasn't busy so finding a flat bit was easy.
Having the play equipment in the middle of the field was great for keeping an eye on the kids. They especially loved the full-sized football goal (and the ball provided)
The owners did openly acknowledge the sites lack of facilities and did say that upgrades are in the pipeline.
Shoreham Airport nearby was a nice distraction for the kids to watch the planes coming and going, as were the horses in the next field.
One bad point was what seemed to be rubbish dump at one end of the site which I had to fetch my kids out of a few times
All-in-all, not a bad site for the price. We will come here again next year

Great site, had my daughter's birthday party there, 9 girls altogether and they really enjoyed it. It was quiet, they were free to run around and there is a nice little wooden climbing frame/slide/swing in the middle of the field so it is easy to keep an eye on children. There is also a large goalpost which my 2 sons loved.
As we went in October it was very quiet, don't know how busy it gets in summer.
The site is quite small. Facilities were basic but clean. A toilet with sink and there were 2 or 3 portaloos which are used when it is busier. Only an outside beach type shower, a couple of hot showers would improve the site.
There are several brick barbecues available and a very useful large table and bench.
There is an ASDA and a train station which could be walked to (about 5 min drive).
It is an easy short walk to beach.
The owner was very friendly, and the site is very good value. (It was £30 for 3 adults and 11 children in 2 large and 1 small tent).
We will definitely return.

Just returned from a lovely weekend here, the site is relaxing and owners and warden very friendly.
As already mentioned in previous reviews there is a play area in the middle of the field which my youngest son spend many a happy hour making new friends around.
Also a large football goal to entertain the football fans.
There was also room for us to host a small cricket match, with other campers and children joining in.
Facilities on site perfectly adequate, nice toilet with urinal in as well and small sink, does have a coded lock but was left unlocked on our visit which made it easier for the children to use to.
Couple of portaloos dotted around as well.
No washing up sink as yet, I understand that this is in the pipeline as is a shower (outdoor shower only at the moment and that's cold water so only for the brave hearted).
Loved the built in bbqs which we made use of on our first night and also a picnic table was an added bonus.
We managed to wash up quite well with water boiled on the stove and a washing up bowl.
We took a five min stroll down the road and spent the afternoon on the beach, there is a small play area and kiosk a short stroll along the beach and a grass area that on a bank hol monday has a market.
If you feel like a more energetic walk brooklands park is further along the seafront and has a boating lake,a small ride around train and trampolines etc at an extra cost but a free play area.
The town is a ten minute walk the other way from the campsite and has a small asda by the railway station and other shops such as takeaways, bakers etc etc.
The planes taking off and landing at shoreham airport wasn't a problem in fact was great to watch.
The horse stables next door was interesting too and the horse quite friendly,on the sunday we were there they had some sort of jumping competition and the children enjoyed watching the beautiful horses going through their paces.
We will be returning to this site as soon as we can if the weather allows us to squeeze another trip in this year if not will certainly be there next year.

Do not follow Tom Tom in as it takes you through a large residential area and this makes you feel like you're lost, however the field is set back from the houses. It is down a single track which also has livery stables which gives it an out door feel.
The field is a nice size, it had a full size goal for kids and adults, also a climbing frame in the middle of the field so if you had kids you could keep an eye on them. There is a residential caravan site across the next field.
The farm behind the field has 2 setters that tend to bark a lot, not dangerous, just skitty. There is a cheap lovely Indian restaurant about 5-10 mins away just over the railway crossing called The Naaz. Recommend it for take away or sit in. It was recommended to us by the owner of the setters.
There is a Total garage with a Spar not too far from the site. The noise of the aeroplanes did not bother us at all. In fact a very quiet pleasant 4 night stay. It was £10 a night approx. plus £1 electric. You will need £1 coins for the meter.

We have been visiting the barn for the last few years and the site has improved year on year, the site is mainly grass with some hard standings more trees and shrubs planted since my last visit will form more shelter in future years.
Close to Brighton / Worthing public transport short walk bus / train. Electric hookups are spaced around and children's slide swings are very nice to keep the kids occupied. Very pleased with my visits and will return again.

We needed a site close to Shoreham for our spare bedroom during daughter's confinement. The Barn proved the ideal location. Do not be put off by the proximity of houses, rail line, or airfield. The site is in a meadow area, with plenty of natural wildlife and nearby stables and grazing. It is sufficiently removed from habitation for it to be unobtrusive as were the trains and planes! The site now has a cold shower for those hot summer days (!) and a renewed play area. The site owners (Joe & Kirsty) and their children were delightful hosts and could not be more helpful. Shops (includes launderette), rail station (frequent services to Brighton/Worthing etc)are 1 mile away via flat walk.
The site, which is generally flat and drains well, is improving shelter wise but be prepared with tie-downs for some stiff breezes. My one criticism - replace the portaloo with a composting unit if possible. Electric hookups were ample at 10A rating and cost aprox£1 per day. Brick BBQs very useful. All in all, a lovely practical site which we have no hesitation in recommending to members. We will most certainly return - even in the winter!
