Have just returned from Southdown Way, in our folding camper*[other!] and glad to say that it is fine, new shower block good hot & free showers, but no soap dispenser at washbasins. friendly helpful staff [one who gets sea sick in her caravan on a windy night!] not to many punters there as would be expected due to just re-opening, but sounds like the coming season is one they are looking forward to.
There are some photos near the reception area telling of the damage caused by travellers, total wipe out! so to have come back to this is great for them, it is now a work in progress site and would expect it to be very popular as it matures. We were on a hard stand but I would say that even as a minor thing the grass in the larger field could have done with a cut.
We will return here as it will suit us fine for visiting our son in Brighton, Also convenient for decent walks on the Southdown way trails, Jack and Jill windmills[view your own rig from here on a clear day! Bluebell railway and more, Our only down view was the traffic noise from Ditchling/Brighton road B2112 it is a fast and well used road

Just arrived back from spending the long Easter weekend at this site. We had electric hook-up so managed to stay warm. They have a number of fully serviced hard-standing pitches and a number of Grass pitches with electric hook-up (12 or 16 - can't remember). The field was flat and ideal for us. We were one of only 10 units that weekend. The site had just re-opened. The toilet and shower blocks were brand new and cleaned on a daily basis. In the men's there were 6 showers, 2 urinals and 4 toilets and 4 sinks. The ladies had 6 toilets and 6 showers. Shaver points were also provided, however there was no soap by the sinks so we had to get our own. The campsite owners were friendly and accommodating and lived on site.
There was no play area for children, but as we don't have any this was probably a bonus, however there are plenty of fields for them to play in.
The village of Hassocks is just a few minutes walk away and you will find everything you need there. We had some of our meals in the Greyhound Inn and found this a nice friendly local pub which welcomed dogs. We thoroughly enjoyed the food in there and the atmosphere.
We will definitely be returning to this site in the near future.

Stayed on this freshly re-opened site in our caravan for 4 days in early April on an excellent, fully serviced, hard-standing pitch.
We are convinced that this site will become a firm favourite in the area, once the word gets around.
Everyone on site was helpful and friendly and the brand new shower / toilet block was excellent.
The location for exploring the South Downs is great and it's close enough to Brighton for a day trip (If you can afford the exorbitant parking fees in Brighton that is!)
We don't often go back to the same site in any one year, but we are just about to re-book for 5 days in early July - enough said !

We had a booking for August this year for Brighton Pride. Yesterday we had an email from the site to say that the site is closed. No other information was given. We have enjoyed this site for several years. Hope someone else takes it on.

We have had some reports of people not being able to contact this site during the first few months of 2010. We haven't been able to contact them either unfortunately.
We have contacted the local Tourist Board office to see if they have any further information. They replied to say they have contacted Hassocks Parish Council and spoken to the Town Clerk to find out the situation of the campsite, and they have been advised that it may no longer be operating as a camp site, but they do not know for certain.
They have also tried many times to contact them but unfortunately, with no success.
So, as it stands we are not sure on the status of this site, and await further updates - if you happen to know anything we'd be very grateful for any information.

We were at this site over Pride weekend when everywhere within 10 miles of Brighton is packed. The site was clean, decent facilities and the toilets and showers were good. The lack of an on site shop might both some but there is an excellent Marks and Spencer garage at the Hassocks exit from the A23 and the Greyhound pub (half a mile away) does a fabulous vegetarian Sunday roast dinner! There is also a pretty decent chinese takeaway and beautiful walks looking over the downs at the Jack and Jill windmills.

We arrived in glorious sunshine for 1 night before going to a VW event in Brighton. We received a warm welcome, there was only a handful of tents and a few motorhomes there.
The field was spacious with great views. The busy road didn't bother us as was quiet at night.
Shower facilities clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. At night they are on a key code to stop unwanted passers by using them( this seemed strange as its in the middle of nowhere!)
The local village has great amenities and was a 10 minute stroll, takeaways, supermarkets and pubs.
We will definitely return-excellent value at £12.

Stayed here and had a great time. Facilities were good, food in the local pub was excellent. A bonus was it's proximity to Brighton. The people in the next tent on our first night were going to a show in Brighton and with transport costs added it was still cheaper for them to stay there than in a hotel in Brighton.

We stayed for our first ever camping trip with our two children of 1 and three last weekend. There are no facilities for children but the great open field led to no end of possibilities for them, although the cricket being played right next to our pitch with a real cricket ball made an interesting morning!
The facilities were extremely good with 6 toilets and six showers piping hot water evening and am, with good pressure!, the washing up area was clean as all parties at the site seemed to respect others.
The thing that I cannot believe nobody has previously mentioned is the noise at Keymer, the road that runs parallel to the site is a two mile country road that is obviously used as some kind of race track, it has no let up in noise all night.
The views from the site are breathtaking and the Greyhound pub up the road was fantastic food and beer really good value, will be visiting the pub again from another campsite!
