Just a quick note to let you know that this site changed ownership earlier this year and they no longer keep the animals that the earlier post mentions.

We also thought that the road was quite noisy and the washing up/shower facilities were very basic indeed.

Not sure if the new owners have any plans for improvement but this really is a very basic site. The views are lovely, though, and it seems to be the only site in the area.

This campsite has a friendly and layed back atmosphere.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon. The owners were nowhere to be seen, so we just pitched our tent where we liked. That is I believe the norm for this site. When we did manage to catch up with the owner the following day, we duly paid but we did'nt get a ticket so it felt almost as if we could heve sliped in and out without being charged! Not that we would do such a thing of course.

The site is next to a field of very vocal sheep, which lends a nice rural touch as in fact it is suprisingly close to residential areas. Yet once within the camp fields (there are a couple to chose from) you feel you are in the heart of the downs with a great view over the hills to the Jack and Jill wind mills.

The washing up area lacks sufficient hot water on tap, but an electric kettle is provided to suppliment this defect. Unfortunately the mens showers were somewhat erratic in their delivery of hot water too. This is a shame as you have to feed a meter with 50 pence pieces so I felt a little let down when the aparatus failed to give a decent hot shower.

The site is in an excellent position for a visit to Brighton as it is literly only a short drive away.

Lovely site, pleasant atmosphere, nice and level, and the views are fantastic. Downsides are that for 1 night, 2 people with campervan and 1 small tent paid £25, the owner simply seemed to pick this figure from off the top of her head. Particularly annoying since I was quoted £18 on phone only two days before.

Brighton does seem to have a lack of campsites for such a popular place, maybe this is why the fee was high.

Also, if you are going to have electric hookup you will need a long cable as there are only a few hookup points.

Don't however, let my negative comments put you off, this is a really nice place to stay.

Had great time here all friendly on site greeted by chickens and goats lol. Still the site is just two fields fairly level not many electric hookup points so book in advance. Toilets and shower block clean but I thought could do with more of as the site gets busy. You should go just for the view

Great site, reasonable price for the area, great views of the downs, toilet/showers in decent condition and a relaxed atmosphere. Also has a few good shops/pubs in the village and the big bonus was that the railway station was only a 15 min walk away with regular services to Brighton with the last train back at around midnight.

On the downside the fact that it's quite near the dual carraigeway and underneath a flightpath for Gatwick means it can seem a little noisy in the evenings if your'e a light sleeper. Also 50p for a shower is unnesessary and inconvenient, why not just add 50p to the daily charge??

Overall though very good and we will be returning.

Stayed for two nights in early June. The weather was fantastic. A little too warm if anything!

Anyway, the site has a beautiful view of the South Downs complete with windmills Jack and Jill. There are parrots, goats, horses, chickens and sheep on site too which is nice. The facilities at the site are very good. You have to pay 50p for the showers but you get plenty of time and the water is lovely and hot. Staff are friendly and helpful.

All in all an excellent stay!

Beautiful setting, with wonderful views of the south downs. There is a stable and a few farmyard animals running about. A very laid back campsite with both kids and dogs running around freely. No set pitches, you can just plonk your tent anywhere which is great as your not piled up on top of each other. Showers and toilets nice and clean and cobweb free! Showers are 50p tho so take plenty of change.
Best thing about the site is that its within walking distance of Ditchling and Keymer and some fantastic country pubs.
Perfect for groups and families, highly recommended! will be going back deffo, even tho I only live round the corner in Haywards Heath!

From reading the reviews we decided to choose this campsite for a 4 day break, however, I feel I should let everyone be aware that however nice the place is and the people, they do not take groups, even though we were two couples sharing a 4 berth tent for convenience and are all over 21. We were sadly disappointed that they could not accommodate us and feel their policy on non-family bookings should be revised.

Stayed for 2 nights over the Easter weekend, it was extremely wet and the field turned into mud where the cars were in and out. I was concerned how my little car was going get out, but I did!

Overall a good site, but not having hot water for washing up dishes was a bit strange I thought. You also have to pay 50p for showers which gives you 10 mins of hot water. Personally don't see why they charge extra for showers when usually at sites they're free as you are paying for the site!

Overall a good site

We booked in for the Sunday night of August bank holiday and the weather was so good we stayed until the Wednesday. The staff were very friendly and a great relaxed atmosphere. Although not modern, the showers and toilets were fine. 50p for a lovely hot shower. Washing machines and dryers available to. Also they have about 20 BBQs that you can borrow for your stay as well as a few tables and chairs. Shops and pubs very close. The only mistake we made, was getting fish and chips from the local takeaway, would not recommend it. Fantastic views and central to all areas. Definately going back next year.
